  1. Nice MOCs! I really like the Baja Bug.
  2. Woah, I like that! The red looks great! Is that a black differential I see? I never knew there was such a thing.
  3. Does this rock crawler have to be RC? Maybe we will have a rock crawler that isn't RC? Something along the lines of 8297 or 8466? Since we are referring to this as a "rock crawler" and not an "off-roader", I would tend to think we may see something like 8466, but with axles similar to the Unimog instead of the independent suspension. It could have a 5 or 6 speed transmission, 2 speed transfer case with center differential, V8 engine, and maybe even locking differentials. And, since LEGO likes motorized stuff, they could add a motorized winch, retractable steps, etc. I'd be really happy with something like that. I don't see anything larger than an XL motor. I have broken gears with XL motors, and even m motors, so I don't see anything larger, unless LEGO starts producing metal parts. I'd like to see a small motor with a self centering mechanism and built in clutch. It would be perfect for steering and moving pneumatic valves. Just my thoughts.
  4. Tow truck and quad don't look too bad. The jet is a real bummer. I still have hope for a nice helicopter with realistic rotor functions, and a log transporter sounds great as well. As much as I like real rock crawlers, a rock crawler as next years flagship model doesn't sound very exciting to me. Maybe it will be better if they have some new PF elements or working transmission, but I guess we'll see. ROFL...you and your black toggle joints...
  5. Awesome, thanks for the replies! I'll pass the info along to my friend's friend. Thanks again!
  6. Hey all, I have no experience with NXT stuff, and a friend of a friend asked some questions about NXT and PF compatibility. I thought I would ask the pros on this site. If I want to control a NXT with a PF remote, then I want to use the MINDSTORMS® NXT IR Receiver , correct? If I want to control a PF motor with a NXT, then I want to use the Infrared Link Sensor, as well as a PF receiver, correct? So, I guess the main question I have is this: can the Infrared Link Sensor receive signals from a PF controller? I get the impression that it is just a transmitter, but I'm not sure. Also, is the NXT IR Receiver made by HiTechnic as well? Thanks! Daniel
  7. LOL...well you picked a difficult project to be your first studless model! I'll be looking forward to your progress updates.
  8. Cool cool! I like it! Backhoes can be a challenge to build. I'm looking forward to this thread.
  9. I like the telescopic boom. It's a nice feature. As far as shows go, I don't know of any in the Boston area, other than what your local LUG may have. Brickfair is in DC every August, but that may be a bit further than you want to travel. It would be really nice to see more Technic builders at the expo. There is also an event in Toronto, but I've never been, so I can't say what that is like.
  10. This is awesome. I'm looking forward to your progress reports.
  11. Very cool. I miss those older sets. I think the only one I have from your list is the blue truck and boat. The grand prix set was on my wish list for a while, but I never got it. I really liked the trash truck as well. ROFL
  12. I built a tractor based on the Case Steiger here. Woah, that's pretty awesome! Looks like a fun project.
  13. True. I didn't think of that. I can still hope for a Tow Truck based on Mater, but perhaps it will be something like the the 8858 Rebel Wrecker.
  14. Jet Plane sounds great! I would have preferred a prop plane with fake engine, but I'm thrilled to see the possibility of having any kind of plane offered as a set. If produced, I hope it includes a full set of control surfaces (flaps, ailerons, rudder(s), elevators, etc). The pick-up tow truck sounds like a set that could include PF remote control functions. A motor for drive, a motor for steer, a motor to unfold the underlift, and a motor to raise/lower the underlift. Or, for a more complex model, a gearbox similar to 8043 could be used to drive, steer, run a winch, winch boom, underlift fold, and underlift raise/lower. However, I see a higher possibility of the tracked crane being a PF remote controlled set. Interesting! [edit]On second thought, maybe LEGO could create a pick-up tow truck based on the Car's character, Mater. I'd buy it, especially if it had lots of brown Technic elements.
  15. This thread fascinates me. I had never considered doing instructions for my mocs, but after reading this, I'd like to attempt some instructions for some mocs I have planned. I'll probably fail miserably, but it would be a fun attempt. dulcaoin, thanks for the informative posts! It's great to read an insider's opinions.
  16. I had a chance to see this car at Brickfair. IMHO, this is one of the best looking Technic cars I have seen. Paul did an excellent job creating this.
  17. Wow...that's pretty slick! I like it! Would it be possible to build this without the pneumatics? Good job!
  18. Awesome! I think 8258 was a great choice! I think it depends on what you want to do with the models. If you want to build a model to leave on display, than 8880 would be the set to buy. Great looking model with some great features. If you plan on building mocs, 8466, in my opinion, has more useful pieces. 8880 is just about all studded construction, while 8466 has some studless parts mixed in. The tires on 8466 would be a great addition to your parts inventory as well. In my opinion, if you want to buy sets just for their parts, then I would skip both and just buy 8043 and 8110 instead. However, if you want something to display, either one of the sets you mentioned would look great sitting on a shelf. Just my $.02. It's great to see somebody else getting into Technic!
  19. Thanks for posting that! It's always interesting to see how people build PF pneumatic valves.
  20. Looks great! I like the chairs as well. How did you make the RC pneumatic valves? I'm always curious to see how other people build the RC pneumatic valves. Any close up pictures of this section? Great pictures too! Nice build, and nice presentation.
  21. I agree! That would be fantastic! I would love more green and white parts as well, but there are still some panels that aren't available in black. I hope for a few more sets with the triangular black panels.
  22. I've got no problem with Nathanael charging for instructions. He has a fantastic moc, and if he wants to sell instructions for it, then I say go for it. With the amount of time it takes to make instructions, he deserves some compensation.
  23. Yeah, I'm really excited to see your finished harvester. I'll be working on a forwarder and feller buncher in a few months. Between the two of us, we may have a full line of forest equipment.
