  1. Quest #122 Had a great time on this one - I do appreciate a straightforward, "kill-the-bad-guys, save-the-town," adventure! I thought the sheep people were a good view of the "normal" people of Eubric - the ones not vying directly for power in the big city. The battles were quirky, and while the finale seemed difficult a first glance, it proved pretty straightforward. Honestly the whole quest proved just a little too simple, which would not have been a bad thing if we hadn't moved so slowly. To illustrate what I mean, Quest #122 generated 12 pages in 3.5 months - less than 4 pages per month. By comparison, Quest #102 (the previous quest Matthias went on) was 48 pages in 5.5 months - about 9 pages per month. Anyway, not much else to say - thanks for a fun diversion and an escape from a fields run that was proving less than interesting. Siercon: I feel like Siercon is ...just a mage. I don't know anything about his motivations, or background, or thought processes, or anything. The most interesting thing about Siercon is his incorporeal form, which for some reason never seems to come up or get remarked on. He seems almost like a background NPC. Part of that could be that the quest was very straightforward and didn't demand a ton of character engagement. Purpearl: Purpearl seemed a lot more balanced, mentally, than in #102; taking to her role as a diplomatic knight pretty well. Lind: I think my comments on The Grey Foxer have already been said elsewhere and by other players; I won't belabor them here. Thanks to Kintobor! P.S. - As always I'm struggling with Matthias, and I'd appreciate whatever criticisms are out there!
  2. Like I said, I'm all for raising the ether cost, but I think it should scale based on how many characters are revived.
  3. Hop, says the cricket. Hahahahahahahahaha. Perhaps if he has such high morals, he might do better as a different class?
  4. On, and I really like the proposed changes to Cannoneer - makes things much more appealing in Matthias' future.
  5. I think the first proposed change to Druid makes a lot more sense than a flat ether cost - my question would be, what happens when a Druid rolls Shield and only has 3 ether? Roots of Life, at 1 Ether + 1 Ether per revival, will still revive (up to) 2 party members under the first plan; under the second, it's useless (nothing happens). I'm not saying I don't want the Roots of Life ether cost increased, and indeed I believe that it might even be worthwhile to increase it to 1 Ether plus 2 Ether per revival, but a flat cost just doesn't do it justice. I will also throw out that the initially proposed changes to Paladin infringed on the Druid's "Nurture" style, so I appreciate that it was dropped.
  6. So Lind turns down a threesome with two shepherd chicks and then drops a loincloth around his questee's feet....
  7. Isn't that the point?
  8. A gnome with a big cannon slides into the hall, doing his best to be inconspicuous, but failing miserably as the Fireball Extraordinaire bangs against first the door, then the floor, then the leg of a table, then a chair. About halfway across the room, Matthias gives up trying to escape notice and just barges up to the bar. A mug of cider slides across the counter and he accepts it without a fuss.
  9. Matthias stumbles rather distantly through several days of feasting and enjoying the countryside before heading back to Heroica Hall.... Thanks Kintobor, and thanks all!
  10. Well, I'm completely caught off guard this morning by the sudden bandwagon against me. So you all really think that scum would draw attention to themselves by voting first? And you think my vote against JJP has less reason than the others? I'm not changing it; it is the best vote I can see today. I suggested targets for investigation and big killing based on the idea proposed earlier (can't quote it since I'm on mobile) that we should all do so. For those who accuse me of parroting or fluff, everyone I have pointed out I did so first. I hope that when I am gone tomorrow you all look at this ridiculous bandwagon against me and find some scum. Superman's Pompadour gives bulletproof, so you all know before I go to the gallows, loyal Roscoe to the end. *vig killing, stupid autocorrect *loyal townie, stupid autocorrect (Roscoe? Seriously)
  11. "Yes, and thank goodness. Shall we all return to your father, Miss Sorsha?"
  12. ...is that it, mate? Nothing else? Just yes? I'll say this again, all I was presenting was a hypothetical scenario, I never was pushing for a no-lynch. Yep, that's it. It's day one, nothing anyone else has done seems nearly as out there as suggesting a no-lynch. Even if you weren't pushing hard, you tried to put it into our heads, and that's unacceptable behavior from my perspective. Yep, and thanks for the writeboard. This. Whoever has the investigator costume starts the town block tonight. (Pretty sure this is all basic Mafia stuff though.) I feel like all of this was covered before you said it, and that whole post just feels suspicious to me. This excuse is going to get old pretty quickly. Wait, what? As a closet feminist, I must now denounce you as scum! I was thinking something along these lines earlier, but I couldn't get it all to click. How can we find out if this has happened? I vote that the investigator investigates Tamamono tonight. My vig kill vote is for Dragonator.
  13. Closing his eyes for a few brief moments, Matthias inhales deeply of the slightly burnt air, tinged with gunpowder and electricity, and lets the aftermath of battle settle his frustrations with the talkative Black Knight. As he becomes aware of his surroundings once more, he notices Berthadhiell's intense glare towards the dead bodies and wonders what the Others might do with their departed. All the fight has gone out of the gnome, so he takes a seat atop the Extraordinaire to await whatever might happen next.
  14. "Brave, for someone who spends all his time hiding from battle," Matthias replies.
  15. Matthias nods to Siercon in acknowledgment of the party's accomplishments through the battle, but is interrupted, as ever, by Whisperer's self-important dramatics. "Oh, do enlighten us then, Master Scholar!" he says sarcastically.
  16. Hooray for being on the 'wrong' side of the world... might as well be the dark side of the moon.
  17. Matthias' mood of elation sours as the ridiculous munchkin comes out of hiding, begging immediately for the spoil. The 'man' has no honor, and knows no emotions but greed and self-pity, the Druid thinks. Kicking the shield towards Whisperer, the gnome grumbles, "Take it, and shut your face for once." As Berthadhiell begins to speak, Matthias weaves healing for Sorsha, himself, and (grudgingly), Whisperer. As he joins Berthadhiell in looking about the sky, fatigue begins to close in on the gnome, and he finally looks again toward the gear and consumables the 'Grey Foxer' had piled up. Stacking it in four piles, he pushes each towards a comrade. "If no one has any issues, I'm ready to find a good night's sleep." Loot Distribution Lind: Invader's Armor, Plasma Shield Matthias: Doomsday Bomb, Xeno Whip, 2x Scrap Metal Purpearl: Scroll of Electrical Warding, First Aid Kit, Scrap Metal, Grand Potion Siercon: Mythril Shard, Grand Potion, Smoke Bomb Sorsha: Grand Potion, 30 gold After Lind's share, I tried to divide as evenly as possible based on known prices (Marketplace/Hall) and preferences. Siercon, that Mythril shard has a Hall price of 150 gold, so it took out a lot of your loot. Any issues, just speak up, in character or out, and I'll make it right.
  18. Excellent! Yes. Vote: (Mary Jane) Jack Jonespaw Excellent, "revenge wondering". Defense noted. Read the rules!
  19. Don't forget his loyal steed! Hi-Yo, Silver! Away!
  20. Matthias can't help but roll his eyes at Whisperer's over-dramatic speech. "Oh, be quiet, you've shamed yourself enough already with the hiding and cowering in fear. Stand and strike to match your words!" he admonishes the Black Knight. Battle Order > Purpearl: Spell (Darkness) vs. Grunt C > Lind: Whip vs. Kaz > Siercon: Spear vs. Grunt A > Sorsha: Recovers (Stunned!) > Matthias: Extraordinaire vs. Gik Free Hits Grunt B vs. Purpearl: 20/2-14=0 Damage
  21. Why was Superman's Cape not an option?! I demand to know why Superman's Cape was left off the list! So, what do we do now?
  22. I'm Batman! I mean, I'm Superman! I mean, I'm Clark Kent. Definitely just a simple news reporter!
  23. The glint of battle bright in his eyes, Matthias picks himself up - the recoil from the Extraordinaire packs a punch on a big shot like that. Reloading, the gnome fires again, laughing as his comrades strike as well. Battle Order > Purpearl: Spell (Lightning) vs. Destroyer > Lind: Whip vs. Kaz > Siercon: Spear vs. Grunt A > Sorsha: Club vs. Grunt B > Matthias: Extraordinaire vs. Gik Free Hits Grunt C vs. Purpearl: 20/2-14=0 Damage
  24. Initially jubilant to see his shots fall, Matthias looks around and is concerned as each of the other party members - with the notable exception of Sorsha - takes a blow. However, each Hero recovers appropriately, so the gnome yells, "Again!" Battle Order > Purpearl: Spell (Lightning) vs. Destroyer > Lind: Whip vs. Kaz > Siercon: Recovers (Stunned) > Sorsha: Club vs. Grunt B > Matthias: Extraordinaire vs. Gik Free Hits Grunt A vs. Purpearl: 20/2-14=0 damage Grunt C vs. Lind: 20/2-11=0 damage Matthias has a power bonus of 10, and his cannon is lightning-elemental, so the damage should look like this I think: > Matthias vs. Gik-Hit (9+18+10=37x2=74 damage to Gik and Destroyer, 37 damage to Kaz) Gik: 246 health remaining Destroyer: 332 health remaining
