Bit strange the Advent Calender comes with the old Snowtrooper and not the new one.

FBTB has some nice close ups of the X-Men set. http://www.fbtb.net/2014/02/16/toy-fair-report-76022-x-men-1/#more-26628

Thats the Snowtrooper Commander. The other two are just regular Snowtroopers. They changed the face so he now has cheekbones to match the new Tatooine Luke. I agree it would've been nice to get a different pilot in the advent calender.
-
There's a shot of Luke's alternate face on the Advent Calender box. Looks similar to the one we got in the last Millennium Falcon. http://news.toyark.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2014/02/Toy-Fair-2014-LEGO-Star-Wars-087.jpg

I'd use the same hairpiece he has in the video game. Reddish brown would be the most accurate although the darker brown is more common in sets.

B-Wing Looks like a good improvement over the last one. Nice selection of figures. Still not sure why Lego went with Ten Numb over Nien Numb though. Snowspeeder While the shape is a bit better its still too similar to the last (5?) snowspeeders we've gotten over the years. The new Snowtrooper looks good but why did they have to change Luke's face again? The Phantom Pretty average on its own, but should be better when paired with the Ghost. Jedi Scout Fighter Surprisingly quite good. The RA-7 Protocol Droid is awesome. Makes me wonder if we'll see the mold reused for either another RA-7 or a CZ Droid in the Sandcrawler. The Hammerhead Jedi is pretty cool too. The Ghost Looks good. Will wait until I've seen the show before I decide whether to buy it or not. AT-AT Still looks too disproportioned. Its sad that this is the fourth AT-AT and the original is still the best one. At least Veers finally has a unique face and the new AT-AT Driver looks good. Not sure if I'll be picking it up though. Star Destroyer Looks much sturdier than the previous version and I like that the front of the interior resembles the bridge of a Star Destroyer. Micro Palpatine looks awesome as does Vader and the new Stormtroopers. I still think its a missed opportunity we aren't getting an updated Tarkin or classic Leia in these sets. In fact I'm disapointed we aren't getting Leia at all this year. Other than that it looks to be a great set. Mos Eisley Cantina Awesome! I love the new Dewback and the colour of the Landspeeder. The moisture vaporator is a nice touch and the design is a massive improvement over the 1999 and 2002 versions. The cantina itself is a little small but should be easily to expand and looks to have plenty of detail. The set itself also looks to be a great parts pack for building your own Tatooine town. Obi-Wan's printed cloak looks great and I'd love to see this kind of variation on some of the prequel Jedi. Shame how Luke turned out. The grin and cheekbones look pretty ugly and I was hopeing he would continue using the dark tan hair. Would've been nice to also have a big more variety with the Cantina patrons.

The X-Jet looks awesome. Sure its a bit on the small side but I think they captured the look really well. The characters all look fantastic - especially Storm. She's definitely my favourite of the lot. Cyclops looks great too although I would've preferred his 90s costume or the Astonishing one over his classic look. Shame the Sentinel is a bit on the short side but at least its face print is improved. Really hope Wolverine's mask is going to be hard ABS like Batgirl's.

I don't remember hearing anything about an Inquisitor set.

This is definitely a set to pick up on clearance. The clone looks nice and I like that the battle droids now have stands, but thats the only thing this set has going for it. The BARC Speeder looks like a downgrade compared to the ones we got in the Clone Wars.

I don't suppose anyone who still posts at FBTB could ask Ace if he could find out whats going on with the LOTR theme?

Lego Hobbit Video Game Exclusive Minifigure Announced
wesker replied to mrfootball's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Looks good. I'm a little disapointed they didn't go with the older Bilbo from the LOTR trilogy though. -
I also like the idea of splitting the threads. Its been done for LOTR and the Hobbit so why not Marvel and DC?

You're not alone there. I'd love to see a new AAT! Even though the design of the Clone Wars one was near perfect I wasn't too keen on the blue and grey colours it had. A tan version from Episode I would be more than welcome. It would also be a good way to get a few more missing characters like Battle Padme, Boss Nass or Captain Tarpals.
-
Lets just hope they allow photography of the new sets.
-
Minas Morgul would look great with some glow in the dark bricks in the walls.

Michelle Pheiffer Catwoman would be awesome!

I'll be disapointed if this turns out to be true. Its bad enough DC is getting another exclusive when we haven't even gotten one for Marvel yet. Its even worse that the exclusive is wasted on another Tumbler. Bring on the X-Mansion already.

I don't have a problem with the lack of Captain America 2 sets. Aside from a SHIELD Helicarrier there really isn't anything in the movie that we haven't already gotten from The Avengers sets. Do we really need remakes so soon? Its either that or random junk not even in the movie like Trevor Slattery's Flamethrower Golf Cart of Doom. Besides the only notable character we're missing is the Winter Soldier. Hopefully he'll still show up as a promotional S@H figure like Martian Manhunter. Thor TDW on the otherhand was definitely a missed opportunity since there's so much they could've done with Asgard and the Dark Elves. One advantage with sets based on the cartoons is that it does give us a lot of comic characters and variants that we would otherwise be waiting a very long time for, as well as characters we might have missed from previous movies such as Red Skull.

The X-Mansion on Cuusoo is doing very well. Its already at 2021 supporters in just a few days. http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/53799

That hood piece looks great. I'm very interested in seeing how the printed robe turns out.
-
I don't think that part is entirely true. Remember both Azog and Classic Superman were Comic Con "exclusives" yet still appeared in retail sets with no alterations whatsoever. http://lego.wikia.co...perman_Giveaway http://lego.wikia.co...e_Azog_Giveaway Then there's the Nolan Trilogy Batman that was exclusive to the 2011 Comic Con. The only difference between that and the retail figure from the Tumbler set is the colour. The printing is identical and both figures are still based on the exact same costume. There's no reason why they couldn't release other SDCC minifigures with minor alterations.

If there's any truth behind the SDCC/Toy Fair minifigures originally being part of a CMF series then most of them have already been given away. I'm dreading which fan favourites we're going to see this year.

I supported it but they really need to cut down on the parts and simplify the design more, especially the interior. I'm not really sure whats the point in including 40-something minifigures in the picture either if its not intended to be part of the concept. The holographic villains are a nice touch though.

The lava playset sounds interesting. The Superheroes theme could use some more locations instead of just vehicles all the time.
