That's probably one of the coolest official set mods I've ever seen. I have the Jungle Cutter, but it's a static display sitting on my shelf :-p wouldn't mind making it work, but I don't have the power functions

Ideas for Future Indiana Jones Sets
Thee Pirate replied to Flatfoot Thompsen's topic in LEGO Licensed
It's been said that people want a Mine cart set.. and I'd just like to throw it out there, that I'd be willing to spend well over $100 on a set like this if Lego engineered a new track system that could also be used in a City set for roller coasters!!! They could have two different inclines (one to get up as high as possible really fast, a chain catch system, weighted cars, and banked turns, gravity operation.. All these Lego train clubs would start throwing in little amusement parks and stuff. Alternatively, there could also be flat turns, and a battery operated narrow gauge trainset using the same track pieces. As long as the city sets were made in the same color (red brown?), this would be a great, and incredibly fun set.. It'd be about as universal as Lego's old monorail which found it's way into town and space sets  -
good eye!!! I bought 3 copies of that set, one of them is still sealed, and I didn't even notice that
-
those are some old, old soldiers when their hats are falling off they have solid studded heads
-
It kinda makes me wish I had a grey croc all I have are the old green and new dark green ones. That's a pretty creative MOC
-
I still haven't put together Market Street, but the other two modular buildings are on display on my Lego shelves.. Regardless, a 4th building would be pretty bad a.

The best is a toss up between the Pirate chick with the eyepatch, the new Mermaid chick, and Indiana Jones (Do you realize that Harrison Ford is the only person in the entire world to be immortalized in Lego form twice? That's how you know you've made it in the world  ) Worst... Irena from IJ, or that stupid smiley freckled face in the Pirate Builder set. After I put the police captain from the 2005 Police station (7237) that pirate captain looked a lot better.

1974: Smuggler's Hayride 6245: Harbor Sentry 6265: Sabre Island 6661: Mobile TV Studio I don't actually remember which one of those sets it was... but I know it was one of them. I also have 1 set that is older than those, but I know I got that set later, it was either a set my dad bought for himself, or he bought it on sale and gave it to me.. The only sets that I still have all the pieces for, even if neither one is still put together is Sabre Island and Harbor Sentry... but I don't have the figure for Harbor Sentry anymore. I probably traded him away for a minifig Soldier with a Shako. Actually, the Harbor Sentry boat is put together I don't believe I have the windows for 6661, but I know I still have the pieces for the camera, and those printed TV sides. I don't have that minifig anymore I have everything from the Smuggler's Hayride, except the Forestman. I have no idea what happened to him, but he's long gone.. I either lost him, or he got swiped by one of my friends :-/

Pieces - does it have something I need or want in it? Theme - Pirates, Indiana Jones are must buys, castle is a possibility, town/city vehicles are also a possibilty Collectability - I've ordered a couple LE sets when I couldn't find them anywhere else (Peril in Peru) and I got the SDCC IJ exclusive set. Design - If it looks cool, I'll pick it up. I really want the UCS Falcon right now, but I also have an engagement ring to save up for Availability - Oh look!!! Wal Mart, TRU, et cetera has it on the shelves! I'll pick that up. *note that with the Pirates 09 sets, I hunted down TRU's until I had picked them all up :-p Price:Pieces ratio Oh look!!! I need brown bricks, and the Sandcrawler is on sale!!! plus I need a lot of those treadlinks to MOC the Indy tank Price - Not too important.. when I was in Iraq, I ordered over $400 of Lego at the same time.. Market Street, Cafe Corner, Green Grocer and a little odds and ends at the same time Figures (or lack thereof) Again, I don't really care, but I'm kinda wanting a greater flesh head variety so my German Soldiers don't all look the same Impulse buying - I make a lot of purchases on Impulse.. Play Features - Not important to me. Suggested Age - last make or break. I bought a few +4 sets awhile back just because they were discounted 75% at TRU
-
For what it's worth, it's like that in Florida too. There's 4 Wal Marts within a half hour of me and all of them are lacking in sets. They all have about a billion Indiana Jones Jungle Cutter sets, all marked down, and the shelves are left marked down for sets they don't have anymore... like that $45 police semi, which I actually kind of wanted to pick up. The local Target had 1 new IJ set (the fight on the flying wing) I bought it, and put it together, but it didnt have any shelf space marked for Shanghai chase. TRU is overstocked on everything but Lego, and Megaflops POTC sets are spilling over into the Lego section. This is the worst time of year to buy Lego sets

Ideas for Future Indiana Jones Sets
Thee Pirate replied to Flatfoot Thompsen's topic in LEGO Licensed
It's probably possible using around 800 pieces... it just won't look too accurate, and it'll end up being about as recognizable as the current flying wing is to the one in the movie. -
I think the best solution here would be to either hop on BL and buy another hull section or two, or just buy another BB. (that's the route I took, I bought it when TRU had their buy 1 get one 50% off sale)

Woah, MOC request? Never had one of those before :-D I'm trying to fall asleep right now (it's 5:39 am) but EB is apparently not a great place to try to do that I will take pictures before Saturday. My week has been exhausting as hell. and on the steering note, why not check out how it was done on the SES and the Imperial Flagship. I think the Imperial Flagship is the most underrated ship in the Pirates line, and it's steering was almost as ingenious as the SES way of doing things... given the single... uhm... port? built into the new hulls (as opposed to the way it was done on the SES) the Imperial Flagship probably would be the easiest to fashion it after.

The number one cause of death among pirates was venereal disease. The number one cause of death among men in the Navy was bleeding because of splintering wood flying everywhere in naval battles.. So which is worse, dying from a disease you got from pleasure, or dying scared shitless and bleeding to death? I vote for VD at least it was fun catching it
-
River Guards is a sweet MOC, and I'm gonna end up using a variation of that water pump... I like that a lot.
-
Best set of 2008 that I bought - Indiana Jones, the Race for stolen treasure, or the Green Grocer Worst set... 6192: Pirate Building Set, or Xlarge grey baseplate
-
Those model ships on the desk are a neat little touch. I like that a lot... might copy that sometime.
-
Wait, the lift works? Sweet!
-
that lift almost looks like it actually works
-
That's interesting.. When you're done you should film it and put it on Youtube.
-
The only thing I don't like about the SES is the way the cannons move around, the mid deck section, and the color selection.. If those parts of it were built like the BSB, it'd be a far better ship. The bow and aft designs (color aside) are IMHO far superior to everything else Lego has ever done.
-
So much brown!! My first moc in a few years is waiting on a couple orders to get shipped that have a crapload of brown in them
-
That would be an expensive army to build... people are really trying to sell that minifig for $7.50 on BL? *hops on the bandwagon*
-
Holy cow!! That's a kick a idea! I effing love it
-
There's another one... Renegade Runner, but it was built with the same color hulls as the Imperial Flagship Anyway... I own 7776 the shipwreck 7016 viking boat and 4768 the durmstrang ship but I voted for 6057 The Sea Serpent. The only one of the three that I've left together is 7016.. I had it sitting in a harbor I built a while back, minus the Viking looking stuff. I'll trade my Durmstrang Hull, the pennants and a few other odds and ends to one of you guys in exchange for Pirate Brown Vest Ascot :pir_laugh2:
