I see that a lot of train MOC's use 7 stud wide bases, but how do you make an uneven base that fits in the center of a even number of studs on the track and wheelbase? Help please!

This little loco is my latest project, born from an LDD collaboration with another Lego afol, Claudio Brick. The FS 214 is an italian shunter, built between the 1979 and 1986. MOC: Ermewa Tankcar and Stakecar. Some new rolling stock.
