Buying LEGO from other countries on-line stores
Notorious Guf replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I was just thinking of asking if anyone had received their Toys'R'Unts orders yet. I decided against ordering as I've read an awful lot of negative comments about them & the stores here are just dreadful when it comes to customer service. Really sorry to hear your received it so poorly, I guarantee they'll do nothing for you unfortunately. Has anyone else received their orders & would like to give feedback? -

Have you seriously not read the last few posts about putting information about OVERSEAS sales into the AUSTRALIAN sales thread? You even copy & pasted the same information into the CORRECT thread for this information! -

I believe they ship it in Bulk to a repacking facility in Sydney then it gets delivered through Australia Post. Anytime I've received a parcel, it has always been in a nice neat box with the AusPost label on it, definitely hasn't come directly from Overseas. -
Latest updates on LEGO set sales

Barnes & Noble have listed a bunch of 2013 sets for Pre-Order with 10% off. City, Friends, Superheroes, Chima, TMNT, Star Wars & Galaxy Squad, I think that was all! -

Another one has just popped up - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lego-Style-Decool-Ninjago-Minifigure-Green-Lloyd-Zx-compatible-with-Lego-5-/271114103401?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Building_Toys&hash=item3f1fa8ea69&_uhb=1#ht_500wt_1288 This is a new seller now, interestingly enough, the complaints about the other seller haven't gone too far with eBay! I think they have slightly reworded the title, but they still use the word LEGO in it, which is against eBay Policy! Still using official images too.
-
Yes they are much more expensive in Australia, so these are relatively cheap in comparison.
-
They've sold a tonne of the stuff in such a short period. It's popular products at really cheap prices (If it were real). Yes you are right, which I also picked up on, hence looking further. This is another Breach of eBay policy as you cannot use a Brand Name other than the one you are selling in the item Title. Not everyone, especially first time or new eBay buyers, realise that Lego Style doesn't mean LEGO. I believe the listing has multiple breaches & they should be able to shut them down, but they will come back quickly enough with a re worded listing. You cannot sell counterfeit goods on eBay, however in this case they'll get around it as it is a different "Brand Name". You can't use wrong brand names in your listing & I'm sure somewhere there is a rule against using wrong images, but I'm not certain on that one. From TLG point of view, the fact that the packaging & design of the sets are absolutely identical, this should hopefully be enough for them to take some form of action.
-
This is my concern, they appear to be real in many ways & unless you are very careful about reading the listing, you will get caught out. They even use "Official" LEGO images. You'll notice on some of the listings you can see the LEGO print on the studs! It really makes me sick that people will take advantage of fakes like this & more so that people are getting tricked into thinking they are buying an equivalent product.

Buyer's/seller's remorse: what are your experiences?
Notorious Guf replied to Martin_B's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Cool Topic! I can't say for sure that I have many purchases that I regret. The only ones I can think of are Licensed sets I've bought cheap, then realised that not only can't I use most of the parts, but the set is nearly worthless & I've wasted my money. It hasn't happened often & I'll most likely give them away as gifts. I have on the other hand looked at acquiring old sets, particularly some Space Themes that I remember loving as a kid, so that I can build a large MOC. I've held off as when I look at the photos, I'm not nearly as impressed by what I see as I was when I had them as a kid, so I'm frightened of ruining what I remember as an awesome set. I have purchased a couple of New Minifigs from those sets & that got me excited when I received them, so I think I'm likely to give the set buying a go as well. -

Quite bizarre, I've never trusted this site as they are basically acting as agents and if you have a problem, you generally have to deal with the supplier direct. They have a lot of old sets listed as coming from Walmart, so I highly doubt they are available, probably just old information that hasn't been removed from their system. They claim they are not obliged to fulfill the order, so you are more likely going to be chasing them down for a refund if purchased. Edit: As a side note to this, emails sent through to their customer service from their website bounce straight back to your email, so if you do have to chase down money, your going to have a hard time doing it. They also don't list a contact phone number. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Notorious Guf replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
So does anyone know whether LEGO have completed their distribution of this Series, or are stores expected to get more stock in the next couple of months? It seems to me that they have been much more difficult to get than the previous 4 or 5 series. -

It's a bit strange that you felt it necessary to join Eurobricks just to have a go at a genuine Eurobricks contributor. "TheDarkness" has informed so many people of great deals & have received no financial benefit whatsoever. That's not someone I'd want to encourage to keep quite & to keep the deals to themselves. Could it be that someone feels that unless they can buy something for the exact price or less than what was originally paid for the item, they feel ripped off? Maybe one of your customers "TheDarkness"? I'd like to thank "TheDarkness" for your regular input as you've certainly saved me some money. Keep it up! -
I can imagine that they will include a set of these. Or at least have some spelling out a bricktacular movie or something! If not, it should be quite simple to MOD the set to include these.

It will be interesting to hear your experience with them when you receive the stock. I don't trust ToysRUs at the best of times, so I'm too nervous to buy anything at the moment, even though they have a couple of sets that will help me finish off some collections. I notice they also won't give you the freebies they offer for Bricktober! Another reason why I hate ToysRUs.. -
I wish TLG gave Donatello a decent, purpose made weapon. What they have given him is simply Cheap! Although maybe harder to do, I also wish they were able to store their weapons on their back like the action figures I remember as a kid!

Have all the first wave of The Hobbit sets been announced yet? Set numbers and such?

It could be dangerous in many ways. I'd be very careful with your orders because if you order incorrectly or have a problem with what you receive, they don't look like they are able to offer much help. You could end up paying for returns or trying to organise things yourself. Personally, I think I will be staying clear of this site. -
Cool, did you get them in Australia or overseas?

Mindstorms Variations
Notorious Guf posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm really keen to buy myself a Mindstorms NXT 2.0 set & have found one from a German seller. It is however the German version & since I don't speak German, I was wondering how it varies from the English Version. Is it just the disk that comes with it, because if it is I can organise to purchase an English disk seperately. If there is more of a variation, I would love to know. Is it also possible to download the English software online so I don't have to buy a separate disk? Thanks :D -
Oh dear! Did you "Pre Order" from this eBay seller? If they haven't delivered can you make a claim through PayPal? If you can I'd be doing it immediately. In saying that, just because their store is closed, does not necessarily mean the seller has disappeared. If they have disappeared then definitely make your claim ASAP.

Excellent, thanks. So I take it then that it is just the software that makes a German version German? -

I'm looking at buying a Mindstorms NXT 2.0 from a German seller, only problem is it's the German version. Now in saying that I'm not sure how much of a problem it is. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the English version and the German version. Is it just the CD, in which case I can either download the software in English or buy the English Disk from another seller. Or is there more to it than that? Thanks :D
