You can tell quite a bit from the photo we have, combined with the prelim of the box. Knowing the stud count as far as how wide/deep the buildings are says a lot about the depth of them and what interior they might hold. Besides, the interior of Creator buildings is usually a sort of half-done look anyway, the emphasis is generally on the outside design making the house look good.

Too bad they have no such interest on the DC side of things, spreading a whole bunch of system sets over the year.

Yeah, as cool as it is it's pretty clear they won't ever approve anything that big or elaborate, from what we've seen so far. Pretty much all of it's fallen in the same general price range.

I suppose it went over well enough last time (late '90s, I think?) for them to bring it back again. I expect the line will be reasonably successful, it still has cool adventure potential with its new vehicles and the like, plus the biggest set has a polar bear. Besides, with the mining emphasis it's not really so different, conceptually, from power miners or rock raiders or the mining subtheme we already got. I think those themes all probably went over well with the kids. I was a kid during Rock Raiders and the previous Arctic line and I loved them and couldn't get enough!

I seriously doubt Brickset has any special knowledge of when it's going to retire. 2010-Jan 2014 most likely just means last time that entry was updated (in January) it was still available. If Brickset knew when things were going EOL definitively, Brickpickers wouldn't need to have so much debate about it.

Zzz, I think you might've bitten off more than you could chew giving all of us the only morsel of information we've seen on GotG from Nuremberg! Let's not grill him too much, guys. What he saw evidently wasn't final and the stand-in minifigs might not have been immediately identifiable if he didn't get a great look.

Yeah the speculation is kinda weird. It's more a matter of "what set will have which people" (which a few people have asked, granted). They aren't gonna give us 3 sets for the movie and not include the whole team.

Fair enough. Either way they're being pretty generous, giving 4 dogs in each of the two sets that includes them. Maybe BL prices won't be too bad, considering, once the theme has been out for a little while.

The same way we managed to get no pictures whatsoever of Superheroes or TMNT, and only a few shots of the Ultra Agents line. That being, the actual Lego news outlets that were there do pretty shoddy work and only photograph their favorite lines. We really only got pictures of a few themes. I think we agree. MMV is a fantastic set, I was hoping for something just as good with another decent sized, two fold-out buildings set. Instead we got something so simplified I can't see how there's possibly 1000 pieces in it.

I hear you. Feels like one of the modulars would be better as a parts pack, with that price point in mind. And as a set it's pretty underwhelming (though I realize that's not really the point, with Creator). I can't get past the "bike shop" with only one bike. Why even call it that.

They're in the helicopter set, along with the main base. Both sets have a 4-dog sled team.

God I hope not. I still need it. And it would really suck if they left Fire Brigade and its successors around so long only to start rapid-fire retirement for them, FB hasn't been EOL for very long.

Skimmed over the thread and didn't see it asked but, where's that baseplate you used from? Assuming it is a baseplate, it looks like one. I've never seen it.

I totally get you, and I'm sure just because of the issues with Lego the scale is going to be way off. That's part of why I wasn't super thrilled at the prospect of a big ship set, even in a best case scenario it'd be something like the Malevolence or ISD playsets, which are a little silly. I was just meaning they may seem really cool to some of us even if you weren't thrilled by them. I'll second the question above me though, did Star-Lord have a new molded headpiece? And was it enclosed/goggled like the movie art or did it have a "visor" bit like the video game version? I'm also curious about Rocket Raccoon, but Star-Lord is my favorite of the group (besides Drax but I really doubt they'll mess him up).

Yeah that pic showed up a while back, along with one of Storm. Just no pictures of the actual jet yet, that I've seen. If you saw these in person though that confirms that we didn't get pictures or news through the usual channels simply on account of shoddy reporting that blows off certain themes. I'm not going to take one person calling them underwhelming too seriously (though given what Marvel sets usually look like I'm also not hopeful). Someone on Brickset or some other major website dismissed the Ultra Agents sets out of hand too and they look pretty awesome. Opinions can vary! I can kind of agree with this, it seems like we're getting quite a few big sets this year. That's a lot of money, especially for a lot of mediocre builds (Spider-copter, AIM lab, most likely the X-jet from everything we've heard, and now possibly the GotG sets too).

Did you see them in person or are you referring to pictures somewhere? I think it has more to do with laziness, considering how abruptly the previous X-men set vanished from shelves in the past few months. Sure, it was due for EOL but it was just there one day and totally gone the next, seemed like. Cleared out to make room for an upcoming set with 2/3 of its figures rehashed. There could be, if other companies hold action figure rights to the characters. Selling essentially a minifig by itself constitutes an "action figure" under some clauses, it's why they can't sell SW magnets that are just a figure on a magnet base anymore.

All I know is that the exclusive sets on the 1st are usually available to VIP members on the 17th-or-so of the preceding month. Since it looks like Feb. 17th is when we get the Sea Cow it stands to reason it's the "March" exclusive. Not saying it's not disappointing, I think everyone here knows my feelings in general on the Lego movie sets.

If they grew up (and it looks like they did) and read any X-men comics back when the debate was raging, there's a chance they're just sticking with their preferred pronunciation cartoons and movies be damned. That's not so uncommon in "nerd" communities with heated debate involved! I know a lot of people who reject the Harry Potter movies' pronunciation of "Hermione."
