AG - Introduction and Discussion

Introduction and discussion The Andromeda Discovery While official records are still scarce, the Andromeda discovery became one of our most important since the begining of space exploration. While approaching a planetary orbit during a mapping expedition of the Andromeda Galaxy, the ship was caught up in a strange gravitational anomaly. Records from the initial expedition were mostly lost, save that when the crew awoke, they found themselves in a different part of the galaxy. A second anomaly was located close to their new location, and when approached their craft was drawn in again, returning them to their original location. When word of this new discovery reached the Galactic Command Council, the Council commissioned a number of privateers to explore this strange new phenomenon, and it wasn’t long before a number of similar anomalies were discovered. Many early ships were lost mapping these strange gravitational anomalies, until minifig scientists discovered the ‘GATE’ system. The Gravitational Anomaly Transport Engine became a core component to allow ships travelling through Andromeda galaxy to use the anomalies safely. The Gate system allowed ships to successfully match the fluctuating speeds and coordinates needed to navigate through them. The vast reduction in transport times made Andromeda’s planetary systems prime candidates for massive scale resource exploitation. With the new GATE system tested and working, corporations were quick to retrofit these systems to their own ships, and a second resource race began. And if many corporations wanted to exploit Andromeda, only three of them had what it takes in resources and manpower to succeed in such a large expedition. In early AD 3815, they reached Andromeda and each settled in on a different planet. To survive in this new environment, they have the absolute need of water. Luckily water is present in diverse forms in Andromeda's systems. Biomass is another key element as it provides nutrients but also research materials. And lots of metals will be needed to expand each corporation's domination over the system, and also make profits! The Corporations Octan Corporation Kawashita Group M.A.N.T.I.S. Specialized in everything, Octan Corp is the leading company in providing minifigs with everything they need. From the outside, the company presents a smiling face. But is it the same face it shows to its competitors? Learn more on Octan Corporation An ancient company, big and powerful but clouded in mysteries... Specialized in advanced technologies, Kawashita surpass everyone in terms of robotics and genetics. Lots of secret projects wait to be revealed... Learn more on Kawashita Group After throwing away its violent and criminal past, the organization known as M.A.N.T.I.S. succesfully developed its activities, becoming one of the most legitimate and successful companies... But is it really true? Learn more on M.A.N.T.I.S. Goal of the game The main goal for the corporations is to harvest the maximum of the 3 resources: Water: Highly needed for the survival of humanity Awesomnium: A precious metal that is used in spaceship's construction Biomass: All sort of biological stuff to nourish employees and that scientists will study By building on a planet, a player's corporation will receive resources and Domination points. A corporation with 30 Domination points more than the other corporations will gain control of that planet, expanding its control area and the number of planets available for building. Resources can be used by corporations to progress on a tech tree that gives bonuses to its players. Top level technologies will require some rare resources that can only be found on one planet of the galaxy, or that can be rewarded by challenges: Gold: A valuable metal with many applications in technology and science Copper: An ancient metal which all stocks of were lost a long time ago Mithril: The hardest metal ever found By building, players will also receive Credits, that can be used to buy Personal Equipment. These items provide bonuses directly to a player who owns them. Link to the dynamic map

Zenith - Old Republic escort cruiser

The Zenith was designed to escort diplomatic missions. It's sizes are 800 meters long, 240 meters wide and 290 meter height. (1 stud = 5 meters) Four main engines and three thrusters allow the Zenith to achieve high speeds comparing to ships of the same size, both in sub-luminar and superluminar speed. It has strong deflector shield, that could also protect any docked ship. The armament is composed of 3 twin-mounted turbolasers, 20 double laser turrets, ion cannon, concussion missiles and proton torpedos. (Click for larger pictures) [/color]

[MOC] Wasteland Explorer #911

Years ago, I stumbled upon Daniyar Kdyrov's work and knew that one day I'd build something inspired by it. When I got the Porsche 911 set, it was clear that it was the perfect candidate for the transformation... The MOC is actually fully powered, with two motors, battery pack, working suspension and steering. But sadly, the frame isn't rigid enough for the car to drive for more than a meter... I actually built this one before the flying 911 I posted earlier. So I carefully removed the underframe, and transfered the bodywork on a new frame to build the hovercar. And then did the same thing in reverse. I decided to keep the red line that runs from the front to the rear, to tie a bit more the two builds... [MOC] Porsche 911 Turbo VV

"Built from the salvaged carcass from the 20th century, the Porsche 911 Turbo VV is, like its predecessor, one of the best racing hovercar of its category. The front of the car is built around two antigrav generators, while the back houses the powerful VV hydrogen repulsor motor, which was integrated in the old bodywork without disrupting the lines. The interior features very old accessories like the strange levers between the two seats, but also top notch controls." 8. Set information Set Name: Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote Set Number: 40559 Number of Pieces: 205 Theme: Brickheadz - Looney Tunes Year Release: 02/2022 Prices: £17.99 / $19.99 / €19.99 (Euro prices may vary) #40599 on Brickset #40559 on Rebrickable Box and content As usual with dual Brickheadz sets, the box contains 2 numbered bags and two instructions booklets, one for each character. The front of the box shows the two models, while the back shows... exactly the same... The build I started by building Coyote. It is a simple classic brickheadz build. Nothing fancy here... I think Lego missed an opportunity here as on my copy, I replaced the 2x2 pink brick (aka the brain brick) with a printed TNT brick, which to me seems a bit more appropriate. Road Runner build is a bit more interresting. Both the body and head use two black Brick, Modified 1 x 2 x 1 2/3 with Studs on 3 Sides. The head attach to the body with a 1x1 brick with axle hole that is positionned sideway. The final models look decent, but I think Coyote's head should have been done differently as it is too "square" (even for a brickheadz) compared to the its shape in the cartoon. Conclusion Design: 5/10 - While Road Runner is ok, I think Coyote's design could have been so much better. Parts: 5/10 - The part selection is average, especially for Coyote, as Road Runner's part selection is a bit more interesting. Price: 4/10 - With a high ppp of 0,097€ the set is quite pricy. Overall: 16/30 (53%) - An average Brickheadz set, with some misdesigns.

11. Set information Set Name: Temple of the Endless Sea Set Number: 71755 Number of Pieces: 1060 Theme: Ninjago Year Release: 06/2021 Prices: £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 (Euro prices may vary) #71755 on Brickset #71755 on Rebrickable Box and content The set come in a pretty large box, with the front showing all the parts of the playset. The other side of the box shows the back of all the buildings and their various play features. The box is filled with 9 numbered bags and two instruction booklets and a stickers sheet protected in a plastic wrapping. The first visual impression looking at the bags is that there is a lot of black, teal and gold in this set, which is a very good thing! The build The instructions are easy to follow, but building all the different aprts of the set may require some time. With the first bag we'll build Kai's small submarine and a small building with a clam shell. Bag 2 will start the construction of the sea serpent Wojira... ...And it's finished with bag 3. Bags 4 to 7 will guide you in building the biggest part of the temple. Glutinous laboratory and Wojira's shackles come with bag 8. And finally bag 9 gives us a part of the temple with a small prison and a spring shooter on top. Minifigures The minifigures are really nice, with detailed printings. Nya's minifigure is my prefered, with its pearl trans blue hair, a trans blue arm, and a simple but quite nice front and back printing that extends on the legs. On the good side we have Scuba Kai, NRG Nya and prince Benthomaar. A focus on the new scuba parts for our ninjas. On the evil side we have Glutinous, prince Kalmaar and two Maaray guards (and a manta ray) The completed set When assembled, the set looks really nice. Each part of the temple can stand on it's own or be attached to another part with clips. Both sides of the buildings are detailled. I'm justs a bit disappointed by Wojira, as I think it could have bee a bit beefier (especially on the neck area). Conclusion Design: 8/10 - Some very nice builds here, with a vibrant color scheme. Parts: 8/10 - The part selection is rather good (if you like black, gold and teal) with some unique or rare parts. Playability: 9/10 - There's a lot to do with this set and all the different buildings. I like that a small submarine is included. Minifigures: 8/10 - The minifigs selection is great, even if only prince Benthomaar and Glutinous' body are exclusive to this set. Price: 5/10 - With a ppp of 0,095€ and 7 minifigures, the set is a bit overpriced. Overall: 40/50 (80%) - A very nice playset, with nice minifigures. The set's color scheme is really nice even jsut as a display item..
12. The Uterceptor, Zar Mioln's personnal starfighter, was built from a damaged U-Wing salvagedby the Dawn's Raiders Guild from a recent space battle opposing the Rebellion and the Empire. After being brought into the Harvester's main hangar, the U-Wing damages were assessed. The ship lost its starboard engines, wing and door, but was otherwise in good condition. Wingss and twin ion engines from Tie Interceptors were used to repair the U-Wing. The missing door was replaced by armor plates and a missile launcher pod was added. The Uterceptor is used as a command and support ship, adding firepower to salvage parties when needed. Due to its shape, it can't land anywere but on a specific dock inside the Harvester's hangar. The Uterceptor by BobDeQuatre, on Flickr The Uterceptor by BobDeQuatre, on Flickr The Uterceptor by BobDeQuatre, on Flickr Finally done... It all started as a micro build last year, and I decided to start working on it during the last lockdown. I bought books to have access to schematics of both U-Wing and Tie Interceptor and made lots of measurements to get all the shapes and angles right. Of course it's not perfect as I had to make some choices. Sometimes getting one part right was messing up another part... I also faced difficuties adding details on the inside, as the measurements of the interior didn't quite matched the space available. I also tried not to look at other UCS sized U-Wing. I just compared solutions used on a few areas. I decided not to use the UCS X-Wing canopy as its shape isn't really great for the U-Wing, and switched for a "no glass" solution that I'm not completely happy with. I also tried Light My Bricks stuff for the first time, and it was a really great experience. I'm impressed by the small size of the leds and wires. Anyway, I hope you'll like it. [REVIEW] 41682 - Heartlake City School

Set information Set Name: Heartlake City School Set Number: 41682 Number of Pieces: 605 Theme: Friends Year Release: 06/2021 Prices: £59.99 / $59.99 / €64.99 (Euro prices may vary) #41682 on Brickset #41682 on Rebrickable Box and content The box contains 7 numbered bags, an instructions booklet and a loose stickers sheet. For set of this size, and a stickers sheet of this size (20 stickers!), I'd prefered it to come in a thicker plastic bag. The box front shows the facade of the buildings, while the back features the inside and all the activities that can be done. The build The build is pretty straightforward, with no difficulties. With each bag, you build each individual room, starting from the bottom left to the top right : the canteen, the school hall, the drama and music classroom, the art classroom, the bathroom (the mandatory toilets are included) and the lab. Bag one contais the 3 minidolls, the bike, the basketball panel and the canteen table that can be attached next to the canteen or used as an outside table. The completed build looks really good from both sides. The facade is especially very nice, with the colonnades, the dark orange brick bricks and multitude of windows. There is a lot to do in this school, and each room is greatly detailed (with the use of lots of stickers). My favorite classroom is the drama and music one, with all its accessories and its two glow in the dark shields! The sandwiches in the canteen are also cleverly done. There is no roof over the second floor rooms, so you can easily play with the minidolls. But the second floor don't detach, so the first floor rooms are maybe less playable.. Minidolls The set comes with 3 minidolls: - Olivia - Marisa - who makes her debuts as a Friends minidoll - Julian - Only appeared in set 41448: Heartlake City Movie Theatre There are sadly no animals on the school grounds. Conclusion Design: 7/10 - A simple build but very nice looking, especially the facade Parts: 6/10 - The part selection is average, nothing too fancy in this set, excepts if you really love windows. Playability: 8/10 - With 6 different rooms and the beginning, lots of accessories, of an exterior playground, the set offers a great playability. Minidolls: 6/10 - The 3 minidolls are nice, but one more for a set of this size would have been better. And no animals.. Price: 4/10 - With a high ppp of 0,107€ and 3 minidolls, this set is overpriced. Overall: 31/50 (62%) - A nice looking set that would make a great addition to any Friends display, but the price is too high for what the set offers.

[MOC] Two Vipers' Brewery

When traveling to the blacksmith, the captain of the black falcon always stop by his old friend's Leon. The two of them were in the same unit of the royal guard, until Leon quit the army, after getting back from a too long mission patroling the western border of the realm, only to find his wife had succumbed to a disease. [MOC] The Uterceptor - UCS U-Wing / Tie Interceptor ugly

According to Wookiepedia, the size of the wing is pretty good. A Tie Interceptor is 9.5m long while the U-Wing is almost 24m, so the Intercptor wing is almost 1/2 the length of the U-Wing. I based my calculation on the "Owner's Workshop Manual" books for both Alliance and Tie Fighhter (https://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Fighter-Owners-Workshop/dp/1683835271 https://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Starfighters-Owners-Workshop/dp/1683839366) Everyone should need a UCS ugly!

[MOC] The Uterceptor - UCS U-Wing / Tie Interceptor ugly

Thanks. I spent a lot of time measuring the schematics to get the sizes as close as possible to the real thing. I was not that fond of the U-Wing before working on it, and now I find it very interesting. And I always loved the Tie Interceptor!

20. Disclaimer: I'll (try to) stay purely factual about this set, despite my personnal opinion. I know what the comments will be, I've already read them everywhere, and I don't want to be part of any witch hunt... because I love witches... Set information Set Name: Everyone is Awesome Set Number: 40516 Number of Pieces: 346 Theme: Miscellaneous Year Release: 06/2021 Prices: £30.99 / $34.99 / €34.99 (Euro prices may vary) #40516 on Brickset #40516 on Rebrickable Box and content The medium sized box shows the set on a black background with a white Lego bricks outline on the bottom. The black makes the box quite classy, but there are also splashes of colors from the set itself. The back of the box has different angled views of the set. The box contains unumbered bags and the instructions booklet. The booklet features a text from Matthew Ashton, Vice President of Design at Lego. I'll let you read the text and make your own opinion about it. The build The build is really simple, and consists of layers of plates and tiles, and then layers of bricks. And then you add the 11 monochrome minifgs. The top of the build features 1x3 arches in all the 11 colors. The hairs parts are mostly new, and so are some of the 1x2 plates and bricks. The different body parts of the minifigs are also either rare or completely new, and at least we've never seens such a combination of monochrome minifigs before in any official set. The minifigs All the 11 minifigs are identical, with absolutely no printings even on then part. The only difference between them being their hair parts (and obviously their colors). (Yep, a white monochrome minifig on a white background is hard to photograph...) Conclusion Design: 7/10 - The build is simple, but really convey the message behind the set. Parts: 7/10 - The part selection may seem bad, but some parts are new recolors. Minifigs: 11/10 - The 11 monochrome minifgs looks great with their uniques hairs. Price: 7/10 - With a ppp of 0,10€ and 11 monochrome minifigs, the price of the set is... I don't want to put a price on such a set. Overall: 32/40 (80%) - A nice set that as a lot of meaning to some, and less to other. A great opportunity to get monochromes minifigs if that's what you're interested in.
21. It's finally done! Last year I started to rebuild the UCS B-Wing I built years ago, trying to fix design flaws and inaccuracies, and it was a blast! I love the B-Wing, and I wanted to do it justice by trying to be as close as possible to the ILM model. I also redesigned the stand to give it a more dynamic stance, as the old one was vertical. And I also designed a small stand for a "bust" version of the B-Wing, with only the cockpit and engines blocks. I hope you'll like it, and if you're interested, the instructions are available on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-77953/BobDeQuatre/ucs-asf-01-b-wing

[MOC][Instructions] UCS A/SF-01 B-Wing

According to Rebrickable, 10227 has only 31% of the parts needed for my MOC. Using the cockpit part of the 10227 was a strong no from the start. I don't like that part, it has more drawbacks than benefits (mainly the canopy printing).

[REVIEW] 41687 - Magical Funfair Stalls

Set information Set Name: Magical Funfair Stalls Set Number: 41687 Number of Pieces: 361 Theme: Friends Year Release: 06/2021 Prices: £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99 (Euro prices may vary) #41687 on Brickset #41687 on Rebrickable Box and content The box's front feature the funfair subtheme artwork. The set is shown, and if you look closely, you can see that there is a magic trick included. The back of the box shows each individual build a bit better, and also reveals the trick behind the magic trick... The box contains 4 numbered bags, two instructions booklet and a sticker sheet. The first instruction booklet will guide you through the build of the ticket booth, the makeup trolley and the turnstile, while the second booklet will help you build ice-cream stall and the levitation stand. The stickers sheet is iridescent. The build The builds are simple and easy to build. Each have clips on the sides so you can attach them in any order you want, or just dispose them as you wish. In bag 1, we get Emma and Henry, and we build the tickets booth and the face-paint cart. With bag 2 we build the turnstile. As the levitation stand, all the 1x1 transparent round plates cover a 1x1 glow in the dark round plate. Bag 3 adds the ice-cream stall. And with bag 4, we'll finally build the levitation stand and it's magic trick performed by Camila. The magic is operated by a rotating knob at the back of the build. The completed set looks pretty good. You can scatter all the individual builds any way you want. I guess these would be a nice addition next to bigger sets and help you make a large display come to life. Minidolls The set comes with 2 minidolls and one microdolls... and a little bunny with a hat. Emma in her amusement park outfit is exclusve to the set, while Camila also comes in set 41685 and 41689 but with a different loxer body part. In this set she wears a nice two layers skirt with black squares patterned white stockings. Henry, Emma's step-brother appeared only once in set 41447. Camila's cape is also iridescent, which is great... but it's a bit stiff. Conclusion Design: 7/10 - Simple builds, but one includes a magic trick!! The fact that the builds can be displayed on their own or attached together is a plus. Parts: 6/10 - The part selection is average, but we do get 18 1x1 glow in the dark round plates! Playability: 7/10 - With 4/5 small builds, the playability is good, and you can even perform a magic trick. Minidols: 8/10 - The 3 minidols are nice, especially Camila's outfit. Emma is exclusive and Henry almost. Price: 6/10 - With a ppp of 0,083€ and 3 minidolls, this set is a bit overpriced. Overall: 34/50 (68%) - A nice little set with nice minidolls and a few cool small builds, especially the levitation stand, but a bit too costly.
