Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Barnes & Noble has them in the US. Just picked up the last plane set they had in stock at my local store. The cashier said people had been buying them all day. -

I mean, the Peter Pan remake got a set, so it's certainly within the realm of possibility. -

I fully expect DOD sets will release at some point, just not until after the movie comes out. Disney takes it's secrecy pretty seriously. I mean for No Way Home the Lego designers were given one concept image of Dr. Strange's basement and some suit concepts and nothing else until after the movie came out. I imagine for the final Indiana Jones movie they're not going to take the chance of a Lego leak spoiling anything. I mean most of the Indy merchandise seen so far for this year has been based on the previous movies with the exception of a handful of overly generic action figures. -

Perhaps this new cowl is supposed to be Batman the Animated Series inspired (hence the white eyes) and they're just opting to use it for Keaton too. -

I thought I saw it in specifications, but I don't see it now. So perhaps I was mistaken or it was deleted, whichever. -

It's interesting that it's mentioned on the 18+ set, but not the others. It makes me wonder if they might release it after all, but perhaps under the 18+ range. -

But it doesn't confirm it was definitely being released either. There are plenty of instances of a toy fair product not making it to shelves in the end (for example the Fang figure from Hagrids Hut). -

I might have been mistaken, but I assumed the originals pictures leaked from that big survey leak a few weeks back. Leaked box art doesn't mean it was ever approved for production. Box art is something created before the factory ever starts producing a product. We know the set was developed by the design team, we know they created box art and that the key art was finalized. But we don't have any proof that it was ever approved for production and actually went into production. Why would they have over produced that piece? Indy's hair in Dial of Destiny is grey, not brown. -

There's no proof it ever went that far though. There's been no factory leaks from that set, all we got was one blurry image from a survey. So there's no evidence it actually went into production like the other sets. Just because there was a picture doesn't mean it was ever approved for production. I also doubt the whole 'brand values' theory. Lego has always used those as a rough guideline and how they interpret those values has varied on a case by case basis which is why we have Lego Stranger Things, The Simpsons and the large array of PG-13 movie tie-ins of the last 2 decades. As for the lack of announcement, I'm not particularly troubled by that either. There's a lot of factors that might have led to that. Just the constant delays may have screwed up their promotion schedule. Or they might simply be waiting on Disney to start their advertising push for the movie to start announcing everything. It's also possible that Disney is trying to keep a fair amount of secrecy surrounding this project, especially since it's Harrison Ford's last portrayal of Indy. So they might have decided to have Lego push back production on Dial of Destiny sets, especially given the heavy amount of leaks that Lego has. -

I will say, in Legos defense, they did at least give her 3 different torso variations across her 4 appearances (clean pink shirt, muddy pink shirt and blue tank top). -

Gotta say, I really love these. They even printed the Barbasol can, which is crazy since they probably had to license that! I'm glad to see they finally gave Ellie a better hairpiece and her shirt is now coral colored instead of pink! They finally corrected Lex's hair color. Too bad they didn't use Indy's new hair mold for Alan though. The Visitors Center turned out better than I expected, I am still anxious to see the inside. I wish they had given us smaller raptors that would better fit inside, I would have been okay with them just recoloring the Atrociraptor. -

It looks to be a retail chain store called Learning Express. I believe the first leaked picture came from a store in Pennsylvania, but I'm not sure if the later pics came from sets bought at that same location or not. Makes me wonder if any other locations put them out early... -

There will be other opportunities for sets, there's still the Disney+ show they're working on. I also really don't buy these rumors of DOD sets being cancelled. It feels like the 'leakers' are just playing a game of telephone and DOT became DOD at some point. -

After seeing the side view of the Lost Tomb I am less excited for it (which is sad because it was the only one I was planning on getting). To me, the front half looks even more empty than it did before, and the back half looks so unfinished and rough; a snake chute sticking out of the wall and a giant mummy swinging machine. I just am not feeling that design. And I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem like they bothered to include a cobra, which is a strange omission considering the piece exists and is kind of an iconic part of the scene. I really wanted to love this set because I loved the original, but I think the only thing I like without any reservations is the minifigures (Indy's hat looks great and I hope it gets recolored for the Jurassic Park Sets). It's also a little bit disappointing that because of hat choices we won't get a second expression for Belloq, Sallah and Henry Sr. -

I'm really glad they decorated the black parts on the stand, it really helps tie the set together. It's also great to get a look at the Ark finally. I like that they added stickers to the side for that extra detail, kind of feel meh about the lid design though. You can see a mechanism behind the wall in the lost tomb, I'm excited to see what that does. -

Edit: Okay, just saw it. It's pretty good, easily the strongest set of the wave. -

For me, it depends on whether or not the three will be distinct variations. For instance, if they give us regular Ellie, raincoat Ellie, and then battle damaged Ellie, I'm all for 3 Ellies. If it's 3 identical Ellies it will be a waste. -

I mean, I can't say I'm totally surprised. Even without the racism you still have the child abuse/slavery/torture. This probably should have been 18+ set to begin with. I mean, this movie was part of the reason the PG-13 rating came into existence. It was pretty controversial even then. -

I rewatched the Gray Lady scenes in Deathly Hallows pt2 and there doesn't seem to be anything like that in the corridor where Harry talks to her (I believe the upper floor of the set is supposed to represent this corridor in Ravenclaw Tower). I suspect that they didn't want to leave it empty so they decided to throw something random in. So my best guess is that it's perhaps a drinking fountain (that's the only thing that I can think of that might make sense in a corridor). As for the scroll, my theory is that it might be a reference to the Grey Lady's cameo in one of the earlier films where she's sitting in a classroom writing at a desk. -

I put together the new Room of Requirement and I have a few thoughts: The bottom section, when filled with all the side builds, really captures the cluttered look of the room really well. The side builds are more satisfying than I thought they would be, I actually really love the parchment build on the top floor. The doorway into the room is also really well done and I hope to see the double doors used more often in these Hogwarts builds going forward (it's just too bad they're stickered rather than printed). I don't care for the upper floors of the set. It's so empty, and that sink is just ridiculous, it looks really bad in person. To make matters worse, they didn't put arches around the inside of that window above the sink like they did for the outside, so it makes the window look unfinished. The bit of tower that's built onto the side of this room is also only held on with one technic pin and then some hooks, so it hangs loosely and leans out, which ruins what's otherwise a good tower build. The tower hanging off the side makes it hard to put this next to any other tall Hogwarts modules. I feel like they either should have gone without a roof and lowered the price, or raised the price and actually put in a real room. -

Yeah, he looks one stud shorter, though you're right it could just be perspective. We're still missing Belle. Hopefully they flesh out all the princess characters this year. I feel mixed about this series. I still dislike how Mickey and friends look, they work fine for park mascots, but I don't particularly want these as park mascots. Baymax also feels like filler to me, it's a very phoned in design. Robin Hood and Prince John look great, I just don't care for the movie that much. Pinocchio's nose is weird, but the design is good overall. -

Interesting rumors. It makes me wonder if the park set is supposed to combine with the castle and train to create a Disneyland setup. If the builds are as good as Carl's House, minidolls or not I'll buy them. Carl's House is pretty impressive. I think they captured the look of it without breaking the bank, I definitely see myself picking it up. I like the Train set too, I think it's pretty solid for a 4+ set. I don't think I'll pick it up since there's not enough new characters, though I'll definitely Bricklink Moana and TInkerbells wings. My one gripe is that they used the cloth skirt piece for Minnie. When the set features a chair for her to sit in I understand using the cloth piece, but when she's just standing they should use the plastic skirt piece as it just looks better. The cloth version just doesn't hold it's shape and looks bad when the minifigure is just standing. -

I think in this case, context matters. In both scenarios it's made pretty clear it's a cat toy, Naomi's even using it on the back of the box to play with a cat, I even assumed it was her toy since the one in Olly's room is a different color. I would also argue that Leo isn't actually performing a service for Olly, I think it's just something they're working on together.- 634 replies

It arrives on Friday (so long as Walmart doesn't cancel it on me). So I'll build it when I get it and see how it fits with the previous modules.
