    2024 Space sets

Yeah but is anyone asking to bring back Space with outdated set designs? You could easily reskin any of the new 2024 space sets into a classic theme. I think they basically did Bring Back Space with the 2024 sets. The only thing that made it weird was releasing them under City. If they changed the boxes to say Gem-Tron or something instead of City, they would absolutely work as a continuation of vintage Space.

Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?

They've been teasing like crazy forever with Classic Space astronauts. Target had the plushies, a notepad, gift bag/gift wrap, and tee shirts. There were also a couple jigsaw puzzles. There have been more Classic Space merch items released than Classic Space sets! It all seems to be leading up to nothing.

    2024 Space sets

Right? The idea that most of kids that were shown these sets hated them, but Lego edited them out, and then released this video to push Space is laughable.

I swear I just saw a recent leak pic that showed those on a shelf at Target. I was wondering the same thing.

And without ketchup! Seriously, what is it with those people? Are they victims of circular logic? "Lego doesn't make it, therefor kids don't like it." Or maybe it's Just World fallacy. "Lego doesn't make it anymore, therefor it sold poorly." They say that about themes that ended at the planned time. They jump to whatever the easiest conclusion is, without any data or evidence.

DUDE. YES. OMG. What rogue employee posted that and how will they be punished?

Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?

I remember the Legends sets got ZERO hype, fanfare, ads, any push from Lego. If you weren't on Lego forums, you would have no idea about them. And I think you could only get them at Toys R Us. Oh and did I mention black & white boxes for some of them? Their failure was essentially due to sabotage by Lego.

But that diner has no walls or roof. It's obviously open to the vacuum of space. 😁 There are many easy seat designs that would allow air tanks. At least they could have a place to hang their air tank when not in use. Like in Beta 1 Command Base. Actually I'm kind of hoping that is the case, and the air tanks are hidden in the leaked pic. But I've been assured "kid's won't like Classic Space". Yeah, especially when the air tanks are the wrong color or missing.

    No air tanks?
  11. Star Wars doesn't appeal to kids either. City Space 2024 is basically Classic Space (but in more boring colors) and it seems to appeal to kids just fine.

Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?

I personally think Lego licensed sets didn't make much sense before Lego became a super popular thing unto itself. When I was a kid, it made sense to make action figures and vehicle toys for movies. Or even licensed lunch boxes and sticker books or whatever. But to take an existing building toy and make movie licensed versions of it? Who needs Star Wars Lincoln Logs? Or Superman Playdoh? (Without googling it, I'm almost sure something like those do exist...) But by 1999, the world adored Lego. Twenty years after the advent of minifigures, you had a whole generation of adults who grew up playing with Space, City, Castle, and other sets. It was a household name. And AFOLS were nerd adjacent. Lego-fying sci-fi and fantasy movies made sense. And by 1999 Lego had enough kinds of parts and colors to pull off modeling mostly whatever design a movie could throw at it. Nowadays you see crossover everything though. There are TMNT He-Man figures (which I honestly am there for) and Star Wars Transformers because the world is a crazier place now.
  13. Yeah like when they can't use certain letters anymore because they retired the molds. 😁

    10337 Lamborghini Countach Discussion

Yes, this was THE car of the 80's. I doubt any car was on more posters. The Countach is the most iconic car of that decade by far in my mind, far more so than the Delorean, Testarossa, anything else. Get him!

    I like the duffel bag.
  16. Lack of elf ears gave me doubt too. I just googled images for Link and yeah his hat is way longer than I remember.
  17. I'm still confused by what this is and why I should care.

    10337 Lamborghini Countach Discussion

That's fair. I've read the same comment elsewhere. People are saying a classic Countach in white doesn't make sense because that MOC is so good. As someone who doesn't have the Porsche and doesn't want to jump through hoops for Countach instructions, my vote is for the classic. I thought I heard it would be white but I could be wrong. I wouldn't mind a different color though. Red might be fun... No argument here.

Classic Countach or the new one? I'm assuming the classic design since everyone hates the new one.
  20. The mech is cool, especially the colors. The Robo Rex I was hoping would be more Zoid or Dinobot like. Is the real news here Cooper's hat mold? Is it new? If so, that might be the mold for Link's hat (from Zelda) as well.

Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?

Wait, do you mean like Star Wars? Then I agree. EDIT: To explain what I mean: Star Wars was popular when Classic Space first existed. And 45+ years later, I don't think Star Wars is popular with kids. I think kids are into Minecraft and Fortnite and Roblox. But SW Lego sets are still being cranked out. I think it's all adults buying them. Funny that you bring up Ninjago. I loved ninjas as a kid, 25 years before Ninjago. They were everywhere. Kids didn't suddenly start loving ninjas in 2011. I would have lost my mind if there was a ninja theme when I was young. I don't really buy the whole "what kids liked has changed" argument. Seems like it's based on just world fallacy.

Googie style would be fun, but that might be hard to pull off with Lego.

    2024 Space sets

Right? The purple guy was in an employee only set -- I wonder if that means he's around for an upcoming official set? Maybe we'll get the white, orange, and purple guys in an upcoming CLASSIC. SPACE. THEMED. CREATOR. SETTM that comes with all the trans yellow windows from the Micro Rocket GWP and perhaps the Monkie Kid Megapolis. But now I'm dreaming. Maybe using the existing alien head from 2024 City Space.
