Bravo bravo @Marooned Marin!! I'm on a bit of a Pirates of the Caribbean kick right now, so this is a real pleasure to see! You've seemed to capture the magnificence of the ship quite spectacularly. I do indeed look forward to more progress as you move this model into the brick!

Stuart showed a sketch model of a chest during the Instagram live event for the release (also can be seen in the second and third photos of his Instagram post here). He mentioned that at one point they were thinking about it as an accessory to go along with the figure but ultimately decided it would be too large a model for just an accessory. It was mostly reddish brown (with some black sections) and very likely based very, very closely off of that model of Mark's.

For search terms on PAB you'll want to use "ship" and "stem". But there are currently none of the hull pieces available on there.

I still have an unopened second copy of PoBB along with my built set (currently in ship form, with the island portion stored away). The last thing I want from a D2C Pirates set is another Barracuda! That set was damn-near perfection. It's a shame that it didn't get a longer shelf-life, but it's been done perfectly this decade, we need some Imperial counterpart.

His name in the German comic is "Speedy".

I would honestly be pretty shocked if it's a re-release of PoBB or even a new standalone BSB.

Bo'sun Will was such an important character in the comic, story books, and radio plays, that he will always be tied to the young plain faced minifigure for me. The fact that the set 6235 in the UK was called Bo'sun Will in the catalogs I always just write off as an anomaly in my own head canon. I agree with @TalonCard's conjecture that this minifig factory figure could certainly represent Will though!

Since the subject has come up, and since I just posted this to my Instagram again, I thought that placard I made that for my convention display about some of the main named characters in the Pirates line might be enjoyed by the members here! Spinoza was also featured in both the comic and the story books.

The instructions for the set are available now and are well worth a look at if even just for the introductory reading!

To me... the only Bo'sun Will will always be the "young" version with the plain face since that's the one included in 6255 and as depicted in the comic and books.

Yeah, I saw a photo of that fig on Instagram as well (which I can't seem to find again) - the front print seems to be very close to the red & white striped version we've had for a while, albeit with white arms instead of bare yellow arms, which honestly just looks a little weird to me (maybe just because I'm so used to seeing pirate torsos as tank tops with yellow arms). So it's really just the text on the back that is the more exclusive part it seems.

The source isn't 100% reliable, but it does have some possible merit. I'm waiting for some of the more accurate/reliable leakers (like Promobricks) to leak something before I'll start believing it more fully. However, even the rumor is very exciting! I'm hoping for a Eldorado Fortress remake personally which would seem to fit in with the "vault" concept.

Me too! This entire figure would have been much less desirable to me with the modern design on the bicorne or in the face print. As it is, I wish the map sticker was a bit more faithful to the original 1989 print.

Such an awesome re-imagining of a truly classic set!!

As a collector who's focused very heavily on the classic era of Pirates sets in the 80s-90s, I can say that the palm trunk pieces are on of the few pieces (the others being the cannon bases and flag clips) which I've had numerous issues with cracking or breaking. By and large, the pieces of this era are pretty robust even after 30+ years (unlike the plagues of brittle reddish and dark brown!) but I've had many trunk pieces crack and/or get so loose as to not be able to hold together or hold the tree shape. I never take any of my trunks apart any longer when dismantling sets for storage.

This was obviously the best choice to win!

The little ship on the train is cute. And I really like the graphic on the sail! Just makes me want a full fledged Jolly Roger more though! For the 4+ line, I'm going to guess it's plastic.

We'll see when the better pictures come out, but I think I'll be getting the train mostly for the Tinker Bell figure. I do however really wish that we were getting something much, much better for Peter Pan (classic cartoon version) than this!

Like @TalonCard said the digital subscription is probably the best option - https://blocksmag.com/digital-issues/ It's also available on Readly if you have that digital magazine service in your region. My only complaint about Blocks is that it's prohibitively expensive to get a physical subscription here in the US, but it's a really well produced magazine with a lot of great content.

Speaking of Niels... there is a really great article about him and 1980s set design in the latest issue of Blocks Magazine! (In the article, he actually talks a bit about trying to learn to use a computer more for modeling.)

I'm really unhappy that this is going to be a LEGO House exclusive!!
