  1. The new torsos are a great addition especially as it'll be fun to display Harry and Hermione in worn attire watching their previously pristine selves!

The new Moody torso looks really nice and the Trelawney outfit is a nice change.

Trying to work out whether we've got new faceprints for the trio, Neville and Parvati but it's still a bit blurry.  I especially hope that they've updated Hermione's 3rd year+ face as I really don't like the original, if they have updated with the face from the second CMF series or something new then that would be fantastic.

Also just another mention of how terrible the hair piece is for Harry in the Divination moments set!  Doesn't fit the film at all and inconsistent with all but one (well below average) previous minifigure.

  2. The new moments sets look ok I guess, the DADA one looks rather boring though. Hopefully the new Moody is a meaningful upgrade. New Trelawney is nice and happy to get a school robes Parvati but don’t know what they’re reusing that hairpiece on Harry for - I’ve never been a fan of it and it’s inconsistent with the usual part from POA sets used again in the new hospital wing. It’ll be nice to get the new printed pages in the books for each subject even if the lime green cover is a bit garish.

I actually really like the look of the hospital wing set. I’ve stopped expecting anything resembling Hogwarts from the films and think this looks interesting enough with good parts to use in mocs. Really like the paler window colours which I actually think are accurate as well and will look great from the inside. The figures look great as well, new hairpiece for Pomfrey is great. Hoping for time turner, Bertie Botts, new owl, skelegro too.

For what it’s worth I think the 2019 clock tower set is the best looking exterior of any minifigure scale Hogwarts set ever - the perfect balance of being Lego-ified with slightly exaggerated details but staying very closely influenced by the source material.

These are the two available angles from the Lego.com images. Not the best but you can kind of make things out:

    59382044_Screenshot_20211202-1535522.png.e45d133d09a46631d9666984ee812b8a.pngScreenshot_20211202-153301.thumb.png.056ab1211d5d67d5af544ed1ba510f7e.png

Thanks @Clone OPatra, this is really cool to see.  The design is definitely a lot more cartoonish than normal but I'm sure a lot of these will have uses in mocs.  A summary of my thoughts on this set:

    The bad

     - Would personally have liked the robes to use consistent colours with previous sets - I know it's not a big deal but I won't be able to unsee it.

     - The price is very high, even with what I normally consider a great reduction on lego of a third off it still feels steep to me

     - Personally won't have much use for the set itself other than the parts inside

     - No named figs, obviously the set is about customisation but I enjoy getting new named characters in Hogwarts and it would have been nice for one of each house to be known.  10 heads and 16 hairpieces for four different houses means 640 options - I don't think 4 named character options would have reduced the level of customisation. Also, whilst they provide customisation, the dyed hair colours do feel a lot more cartoonish than anything in the films, I know you don't need to use it but you are paying extra for these things hence the exorbitant price.

    The good

     - Bertie Botts (almost certainly printed) piece has been a long time coming and is very exciting!

     - Marauders Map print is nice - don't think this was necessary but it's definitely more accurate than the CMF one

     - Sand blue owl is a lovely addition to the parliament in a colour that I think really works, would be nice to get a non-airborne equivalent at some point for my owlery

     - I do love that we've got four winter torso prints with different designs despite the departure from the usual colours

     - The advanced potion making book is nice even if it makes the version in the astronomy tower pretty redundant

     - If the crest above the fireplace is printed then that would be a very nice part for mocs of common rooms/great halls

  4. The fact that we haven't had imo a good Crookshanks got me thinking about anything else that would really benefit from a new mould.

For instance the Sorting Hat is infinitely better than it was using the regular wizard hat piece.

I'd personally love a new broom piece, the current one is ok but has to be one of the oldest minifig accessories. A dual moulded triwizard cup would be great too.

It would be great to get a big hound for Sirius in dog form and a werewolf head would be cool too for Lupin.  Kreacher head and troll would be other nice additions on the figs front.

  5. I generally think we've done very well with HP figs (2018 onwards) but my least favourites include: Burrow Ginny (the face is just miles off) and the torso is boring, "Wizard" from accessory pack (repeated torso from Diagon Alley so gets repeated in display which is a pet peeve of mine).

As for my favourites: Moaning Myrtle and 2018 Nearly Headless Nick are perfect if mutually inconsistent, CMF2 Dumbledore, Moments McGonagall, CMF2 Hermione, Diagon Alley Harry in blue shirt.

Now for leaks, Madam Pomfrey is more exciting than the rest combined but I'm curious to see Parvati, Trelawney, Moody and even moreso the students/teacher in the trunk set.

  6. Excited for the treasure hunt that I'll hopefully be able to do in person, shame it's not more widespread.

On a completely unrelated note - Promobricks has released descriptions of the next CMF series which will include a snow warrior with "Durmstrang-style" hat.  Sounds to me like this could have been chosen very much with a Karkaroff figure in mind, would make sense if we more onto years 3 and 4 next year.

  7. Thanks all for the kind words about my Snape's Class MOC, the contest has closed to new entries now but there have been loads added and there are some amazing builds: https://ideas.lego.com/challenges/5caa9cef-d9ec-46a0-b472-14ba484723f9?query=&sort=top

I wonder whether this sort of thing could influence LEGO's Harry Potter design team.  There are loads of Gringotts, Leaky Cauldron, Battle of Hogwarts and Ministry of Magic builds - it's clear that there's an appetite for sets based on these if it wasn't already obvious.

  8. There are over 250 amazing MOCs on the Lego ideas Harry Potter contest, some very clever ideas and interesting builds.  I'd highly recommend checking it out.  My own submission is below for anyone interested, based on 4709 Snape's Class from 20 years ago (more images at the link to the submission).

Forgot to mention, this is one of my favourites - loads of references to previous sets and clever side builds. https://ideas.lego.com/challenges/5caa9cef-d9ec-46a0-b472-14ba484723f9/application/1c944a7c-eb24-4e76-b0ac-214e66d7ef85

  9. I can't remember when it was but I'm sure we got the McGonagall figure last year before we even knew it was coming.  Would be nice to get a Madam Pomfrey leak sometime soon.  Of all the figures we haven't had it's probably the one I most hope they don't cheap out on... I can't be doing with any more Helga Hufflepuff faceprints!

  10. For anyone interested in having a look, I've submitted an entry to the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter Lego contest based on set 4709 Snape's Class.

It was lots of fun to design and I'd highly recommend having a look through all of the submissions, some of them are really excellent - there's a lot of talented Harry Potter Lego fans out there!

  11. The announcement of the dark troopers "battle pack" got me thinking whether we might ever see similar sets in Harry Potter.  I'm sure we might have discussed this before a while ago but it's an interesting thought.

The accessory packs are an indicator that a heavily minifigure focussed set might be possible - I'm sure these would be very popular, though LEGO might want to use the minifigures as a draw for bigger sets.  Possibilities off the top of my head:

    • OotP Death eaters (Lucius, Bellatrix, two masked death eaters) and Order (Sirius, Tonks, Moody, Lupin) with appropriate sidebuilds e.g. prophecy shelves, veil
    • Gryffindor and Slytherin Quidditch teams (would be nice opportunity to get Katy Bell, Angelina Johnson, Alicia Spinnet)
    • Battle of Hogwarts would be an obvious shout, plenty of interesting choices such as Aberforth Dumbledore or the Carrows

It seems unlikely, but if LEGO did make sets of this type, is there anything that you would especially like to see?

Hagrid? In CMF? Yeah that's not gonna happen.

Well there's plenty of characters who have more than one variant: Xeno, Rita, Barty Jr., Lucius, Percy

Quirrell was an important character in the first movie, that's why we got him

Hagrid was on my "unrealistic" list, I agree that it's unlikely!

As much as I am wary of getting too optimistic, I think a third CMF series might still be possible.  The theme is going strong and I think there are still plenty of possibilities for new characters without removing the draw of new figs in sets.

The CMF 2 series only had 5 figures never before released out of 16, so a 12 figure series could expect maybe 4 new characters plus variants (hopefully there would be more).  If your new characters are for example Rita Skeeter, Xenophilius Lovegood, Dolohov and Kreacher then there are still loads of figures who would appeal even from the sets that these characters might appear in (e.g. Karkaroff, Crouch sr, OotP Sirius, Mundungus Fletcher etc.).

I think I'm mostly hopeful because I loved the previous CMF series so much, in terms of what that series added to a Harry Potter collection there are few sets that match it imo.

  13. Latest rumour on instagram from reliable sources is that there will be 4 CMF series in 2022 - this includes the classic one and the Muppets one in Spring.  Pretty sure it's normally just 3 series a year (e.g. classic/Looney Tunes/Marvel) so this greatly improves our chance of getting a third HP CMF series!  I've given before a guess as to what we might get if there is another series but thought it would be fun to come up with a dream scenario too:

    • Rita Skeeter with quick quotes quill and newspaper of interview with Harry
    • Barty Crouch Sr with dual-moulded Triwizard Cup (I just don't think they've done this right yet)
    • Madam Pince with new hair/hat mould
    • Kreacher with locket
    • OotP Sirius
    • Mundungus Fletcher with Umbridge newspaper (would love to get new prints of newspapers)
    • Lee Jordan with microphone and scoreboard
    • Percy Weasley as prefect with hair/hat mould from scene leading Gryffindors to the common room
    • OotP Dolohov with masked alternative
    • Bloody Baron in style of first Nearly Headless Nick
    • Hagrid in red shirt from PS with fang
    • Xenophilius Lovegood with Tales of Beedle the Bard book

This is far too obscure to be a realistic selection but I think they'd be good uses of CMF spots and I'd buy them all in a heartbeat!

Only way that description of the common room set would be an additional minifigure OF the Fat Lady Portrait, set inside to make it a "playable portrait". Sort of in the vein of the D2C chocolate card.

That would be fun!  I expect we'd more likely get a sticker but in any case, it would be a great fun set to have.

While perfectly fair as market strategies go to offer the Durmstrang set, combining them is a high hurdle price-wise and would exclude many from owning a key scene.

I can't quite see them offering Gringotts as a D2C, unless it came with other buildings that made it very expensive. It's such an iconic location (just think of the amusement park advertising) that if it's remotely affordable, I think they'll make it a regular set.

I agree about the Durmstrang ship but can see Lego doing it all in one, same as the Chamber of Secrets plus unnecessary great hall and classrooms.  I'd hope Gringotts was a D2C purely in terms of building techniques - so that it's in-keeping with the standard of Diagon Alley, hopefully still easy enough for people to purchase though.

Whilst we're at it with predictions, assuming a CMF3 comes out in 2022, here's my guess for the line-up:

     - Harry (Battle of Hogwarts with Diadem)

     - Ron (Battle of Hogwarts with Hufflepuff's cup)

     - Hermione (Battle of Hogwarts with Tales of Beedle the Bard)

     - Rita Skeeter (Lime green suit with quill and notepad)

     - Percy Weasley (Prefect robes with Errol)

     - Kreacher (with locket)

     - Mundungus Fletcher (with briefcase of Galleons)

     - Neville Longbottom (Battle of Hogwarts with sword - bit boring)

     - Lee Jordan (with microphone and scoreboard)

     - Narcissa Malfoy (with wine glass)

     - Xenophilius Lovegood (with Quibbler)

     - Sirius Black (OotP attire also with wine glass?)

I appreciate that this is quite ambitious, there should be enough well known characters to appeal to casual fans but I'm sure some of these would be saved for future sets e.g. we could get Sirius in a 2023 Ministry of Magic or Grimmauld place set.  Would love the CMF treatment to go towards more obscure characters like the Bloody Baron but that's seems too hopeful.  OotP Tonks would be nice too... we won't ever be satisfied!

Feels like nobody learnt anything from this year. The wish list have already started with very desirable sets. The speculations are way too good. Think we should tone down the expectations, instead of preparing our disappointment a year in advance. Lol.

I agree, the difficulty will always exist as we are not the target audience and LEGO is a company that needs to maximise revenue like any other.  That said, it's more fun to be optimistic!  As such, my "optimistic" set list for next year based on the minifig scale 2021 summer sets would be (in USD to match set prices/rough sizes on p1 of this forum):

     - $20 Quidditch world cup attack - Tent with fire functions

Figures: Harry, Ron with face paint, Hermione, Barty Crouch Jr

     - $30 Gryffindor Common room - Christmas themed Hogwarts expansion with Fat Lady portrait, fireplace and dorm

Figures: Harry, Fred and George (Weasley jumpers), Lee Jordan and Angelina Johnson (I'd love this but it seems very unrealistic, Sirius break-in themed seems more likely)

     - $40 Hagrid's Hut - Based on PS, smaller/simpler than the previous one as with the 2021 sets

Figures: Hagrid, Harry, Draco, Fang, Firenze

     - $60 Shrieking Shack - I don't think this needs to be huge, slightly larger than the two Hogsmeade buildings would be fine

Figures: Sirius, Werewolf Lupin, Wormtail, Harry

     - $80 Leaky Cauldron - A very hopeful Diagon Alley expansion based on PoA with wanted posters etc (the price for this one would definitely be higher)

Figures: Cornelius Fudge without hat, Tom the Barman, Harry, Mr Weasley, Ron, Hermione with Scabbers and Crookshanks

     - $130 Triwizard Tournament: Second Task - Includes Durmstrang ship (not too big as no known interior), under the lake scene plus one of the stands.

Figures: Dumbledore (first non-PS/CoS since Clocktower), Harry, Ron, Hermione, Gabrielle, Fleur Krum, Karkaroff, Barty Crouch Sr, Merperson

No Cedric or Cho as space is limited.

     - CMF - 12-figures series with a leaning towards Deathly Hallows but also containing a few figures to fill in the gaps like Rita Skeeter, Percy Weasley

     - D2C Gringotts - I'd be very surprised to get this and the Leaky Cauldron but I'm confident that Gringotts is a matter of time - maybe as an 18+ Deathly Hallows themed set but I'm going with PS

Figures: 4 (White-, reddish brown- and light/dark grey-haired) goblins (Bogrod, random tellers, Griphook), Harry, Hagrid, Security guard

Hello, long time lurker and collector of Potter sets, big fan of them returning in 2018 blah blah...

Anyway I had some ideas/predictions on some of new figs just to start up a discussion

I'm thinking maybe there will be new Moments uniform torsos for the students, with the black robes

Neville must have a shoulder length hairpiece if he is the GOF version, maybe Frodo's hairpiece would work? (Also will he reuse the face he has in the astronomy tower set or a new one?)

Hermione will probs have the same hairpiece she uses in her POA appearances in that Moments set too

I'm hoping Harry, Hermione and Ron have new expressions in the Hospital Wing set, probs asking too much but it would be cool getting new face prints for the older versions of them

Maybe Ron will have a moulded white leg or a printed white leg to represent bandages

The time turner should be a new print on a round tile so we get a new version of Hermione with a plain pink hoodie, similar to the square tile print for Jack Sparrow's compass

    Welcome to the forum!

I hadn't thought about Neville getting a new hairpiece but I think you might be right, I wouldn't be surprised if the Frodo hairpiece has been discontinued but I think a dark brown version of Ron's hair (CMF series 2/Astronomy tower) might work pretty well.

I think you're right about Hermione having the same hairpiece as before but think we'll get her new CMF series 2 face print in both sets - I think Neville will use his CMF series 2 faceprint too.  As for Harry and Ron, we'd be lucky!

We'll hopefully get a new Parvati faceprint without jewellery, this would also be a good opportunity for LEGO to give a new faceprint for a less common skin tone.

It would be nice to get the time turner as a printed round tile or even as a printed medal piece.  As far as I'm concerned though, all the budget in that set can go to a new dual moulded hair/hat combo, new faceprints, new torso prints and new dress prints for Madam Pomfrey!

Yeah I've not found them here either, admittedly I've not looked too hard in the past though!

I was thinking about Moody the other day, I'd like to see one of the darker blond colours for his hair piece, also a second Moody expression rather than Barry Crouch Jnr.

I believe were currently up to 14 variants of the Gryffindor uniform, not including Quidditch, or herbology, since this line started in 2018. It'll be interesting to see what version we get in the moments sets.

14, wow!  That seems crazy, let me think, there's:

     1. Original jumper

2-4. CMF series 1 trio with robes

     5. CMF Dean with scarf

     6. Advent calendar Hermione with scarf

     7. Buildable Hedwig Harry with scarf

     8. Moments jumper with shield

     9. CMF Neville robes

     10-11. Harry/Hermione cardigans

     12. Diagon Alley robes closed all the way up

13-14. 2021 robes fastened and unfastened

You're right - that's loads!  Plus Quidditch, Herbology, Triwizard tournament, Anniversary sets.  The other houses have far fewer, Slytherin has 4 (original jumper, jumper with shield, Astronomy tower open robes, fastened robes) plus Tom Riddle torsos, Ravenclaw has 4 (original jumper - technically two of these as CMF Cho was slightly different, jumper with shield, Luna cardigan, robes), Hufflepuff has 2 (jumper and robes).

I'd really like to see some of the other house robes with scarves - think that would add a lot of colour to a band of students walking about Hogwarts.

I remember promobricks saying somewhere in the comments that they got it wrong and it's actually middle-legs

Yep, there's a pinned comment on falconfan's post

Thanks @Legofania, that's good to know!

We're slowly racking up the number of Neville's since the 2018 restart, we've got 2xHerbology Neville (short and mid legs), 2x Gryffindor robes Neville (short and mid legs), Slug club party Neville and now a 6th one - although I feel like this Neville could be very similar if not identical to the latest CMF one.  It will also be interesting to see whether Hermione gets the (superior imo) CMF faceprint rather than the one previously used for books 3 onwards.

Another insignificant consideration is whether Moody will still have tan coloured hair - I think the CMF hairpiece was perfect but it's the only 2018+ HP to have tan hair I think even when it would have been a more appropriate choice for many figures (e.g. Malfoys).  Lego obviously prefers to use brighter colours where possible but hopefully not with the new Moody figure.

10000 replies in this thread now!

Has anyone picked up the Hermione Polybag?

No, I haven't - safe to say this is by far the most exciting polybag and will be the first one I make sure to pick up.  I feel like polybags are scarcer in the UK than the US, don't think I've ever seen one anywhere here before.

  19. Bit late to the party but here’s my thoughts:

     - Madam Pomfrey has finally made it! I think alongside Rita Skeeter this is the most desired minifigure so this is great news - hopefully Lego goes all out.

     - As an aside, the fact that we’re getting a set with apparently nothing new other than this figure shows that Lego knows where the gaps are and what the collectors want. This gives me more encouragement with regards to Gringotts and DH.

     - As another aside, I understand why there are no deathly hallows sets, I just don’t think they’d appeal to the main target audience (kids) as much as the earlier movies. Lego does cater for all ages though and I wouldn’t rule out one-off DH sets. And especially DH themed CMFs.

     - The trunk is another “wait and see”. I personally prefer minifigure scale sets but Lego did a good job of the icons and Fawkes sets so who knows. Intrigued about the torsos but I think we’re going to see the four different house robes from this year (which would explain the Luna fig). The teacher might be more interesting - Lego certainly likes using minifigures to tempt me to buy non-minifigure scale sets.

     - Hogwarts moments classes sound alright, as with the hospital wing, I think these sets will serve very nicely as parts packs for MoCs. Nice to get a new Moody and Trelawney, will be interesting to see how similar they are to the CMF (were series 1 moulds not exclusive because made in a Chinese factory or something?). I’m happy to get Parvati. Harry, Neville, Hermione are less exciting especially if it’s true that N&H have short legs - Lego has been quite inconsistent with the moments sets.

     - Lastly, all three scene based sets are from movies 3 and 4 so I see a repeat of 2019 coming in the summer. Time for the Shrieking Shack and the Second Task? Rita, Crouch Sr, Merpeople, Werewolf Lupin etc on their way? Would be nice if the CMF carried on to DH though.

  20. Amazon UK have some fantastic deals at the moment to the extent that I’m tempted to pick up sets that I already own. These include:

     - Umbridge encounter with Grawp down from £25 to £12

     - Knight bus down from £35 to £18

     - Hogwarts moments Charms class down from £28 to £18

These are the standouts as far as I’m concerned but there’s other good deals there.
