  1. I think we should avoid making guns use ammunition. It seems like it would get very tedious to keep track of and worst case scenario a player runs out of ammo and cannot attack.
  2. @Waterbrick Down So far I really like everything you have presented! I feel like naming things is tough too. Healing items should differ for Biological characters and Mechanical characters though. I am not sure about said items for Biological characters but maybe for Mechanical characters a healing item could be called Nanites? Ether should still be used for Magic. I like to think they are like medichlorians and are ubiquitous.
  3. We could have an American Gods situation where there are the old Gods and new Gods unless everyone wants to take the existing Gods and “modernize” them to fit the setting. I have had an idea for an enemy in mind for some time now. It is a bit ambitious as this enemy is a boss and would need to be built with bricks. Spoiler: they are a type of Dragon. Maybe not necessarily a God but has a God-like mentality. I am still messing around with ideas for this character though. My idea is that they become a Raid boss if we do those.
  4. @Waterbrick Down For a rough draft that looks really good! @samurai-turtle Yes, Kinetic Damage would be basic non-element damage. I think Energy Damage could be an assortment of elements, like Fire or Electricity. There probably will be a variety of Energy Weapons ranging from Bolt Rifles to Solar Cannons. Correct me if I am wrong, that is the impression I get so players are not just relying on a single set of gear.
  5. I think this is perfect! It is very thought out but it ultimately does not seem too complicated. I also agree with the weapon type effectiveness versus certain enemies. It might get a bit more complicated because of the variety of weapon types and enemy types but I may have an idea. I think we should take a page from games like Destiny and Warframe when, or if, we get to that point. And I just want to give my final thought on the theme of the game - I genuinely do not like the idea of using different LEGO Themes together. Having Agents and Medieval together, for example, just feels weird. I liked Heroica because it had Dungeons & Dragons tropes but it was mostly it’s own unique and original world. I say we expand upon that. Just take the world of Heroica but fast forward time thousands of years or so. The story of Destiny is fantastic and could be a useful source for inspiration.
  6. Agreed. I say rig up a system for proficiencies and give it a test run because it is the new idea being tossed around. If it works relatively well, it can be fine tuned. We could always resort to the class system if the proficiencies do not work. We won’t know if we just keep talking about it.
  7. What about passive abilities or character traits depending on your race? For example, you are playing as a Reptile-based humanoid and your Racial Bonus is Regenerate. It could either restore +1 HP each round or restore you to full HP after each battle. Stuff like that could be fun and make your character feel a bit more unique.
  8. I think for a Test Quest it is a fine idea. It should help with what works and does not work in term of mechanics. I was also thinking the same thing with Guns and Bows too. I am concerned about Explosive Weapons though. Assuming they act with a similar mechanic, how will missed shots work? Will there be zero damage dealt every time or will there be chances where some damage is dealt because of splash damage? I definitely think that a successful hit on a target should deal some splash damage. This system could instead be tied to Explosive Weapons as an effect to prevent it from being overpowered.
  9. Been lurking for a few days and I want to throw in my two cents. I still think that a Science-Fiction and Fantasy hybrid is a great theme to go for. There are many possibilities for quests and adventures in new environments. I personally have no knowledge or insight on game mechanics, I prefer writing and storytelling. However, I really like the idea of Proficiencies. In the small amount of quests I participated in, I loved interacting with the environment and NPCs. Dungeons and Dragons I think does it the best but certain video games do it quite nicely, like Fallout and Oblivion. Just an example here: Strength - affects Melee Weapon damage, Intimidation, and interacting with specific objects. If you guys want help or ideas with writing the story for Heroica 2.0, let me know. I will gladly help out. The idea I had in mind is that the guild disbands because the world is finally brought to peace the need for a Hero’s assistance was no longer needed. Technology began to advance so people could pursue adventures, just like what the original Heroes did. People began to explore new worlds and colonize. The peace is eventually disturbed and new threats begin to arise. Someone reestablishes the Heroes Guild to restore peace like the Heroes of old. It is a rough idea but hopefully it helps with the Prologue. As for what the threats are, they could be anything. Factions we know of that become corrupted and sinister or something new entirely. I also have more ideas for things, like the Hall itself. It could be called the Heroica Hub and is a space station so people from different planets can get there more easily.
  10. Hello everyone. I know I have not posted here in a long time but I checked this section the other day and this thread caught my attention and I just wanted to share a few thoughts. First, I think it is a very interesting idea to go with a Science-Fantasy theme. It is very unique. I think the idea of Dwarves and Orcs in space is brilliant. I just have a few concerns. Assuming it is a type of sequel, how will it fit into existing lore? How will weapons be balanced if there are energy-based weapons and physical-based weapons? Is there an estimated time for Heroica 2.0 to come into fruition? Anyways, I am interested to see what you guys come up with.
  11. Hello everyone, Are there are anny other trustworthy sites in the United States where I could buy LEGO pieces from? The reason I ask is because I am not too fond of how BrickLink handles their payment methods. I find it rather bothersome and complicated. I would prefer to have it direct and easy, like Ebay. So if there are any websites where you can buy individual pieces for cheap, that includes bricks and minifigure parts and accessories, please let me know! Thank you, -Goliath

    Heroica RPG General Discussion

Hello everybody, I just wanted to stop by and hello. I have not posted here in a while nor have I been keeping tabs on the last quest but I hope everything is going great. I am relatively eager to see how everything ends when the occasion should occur. If it leaves space for a second game, perhaps I will return if I have the time. Best of luck to you guys! Cheers!

Quest #158 For this being my final quest to participate in, I enjoyed it a lot. Although I am not familiar with the specific story arc, I felt that it came to a good conclusion. Some things could have been better in the quest but I will get to that shortly. Overall, I felt the story was great but it could have been stronger. The one thing I would have liked to have seen undoubtedly was the death of the NPC's or Luke. Vindsval seemed to have a good connection with Luke and I think if he had died, there would have been a bigger impact and a better ending. Sometimes the "everyone lives happily ever after" ending is dull but when dealing with an adversary as hyped up and powerful as Calder Den, it would have been very necessary. Perhaps if his magical painting had been feeding off the souls of people to boost the strength of the power and them becoming part of the painting would have been interesting too. My favorite part of the quest was the curve ball you threw at us with Jeremiah. I honestly thought that he would be loyal to his grandfather to the end but his act of betrayal was quite heroic. This is usally when I critique the other heroes and give my thoughts but seeing as Heroica is at its end, it seems unnecessary to do so. I am more than happy with the party I had with this quest. It was great to quest with Ezeran and Petaldan again as well as Vindsval even though I did it with a different character. He was the first hero I ever quested with. That was when my character was Salt-Upon-Wounds, the Hobgoblin Barbarian. Nevertheless, it was great to quest with Vindsval at the end. Hopefully there is a Heroica II or something because I would love to quest with you guys again and create new memories!

Although I am no veteran to Heroica, I really do think that is a nice idea. It just seems... right, very poetic if you will. I would also like to say that I enjoyed being a part of this community for the somewhat short amount of time I have been here for. You guys are great and tell wonderful stories that have truly inspired my works. I would really love to see Heroica continue one way or another.

I do not plan on doing anything to conclude Addok-Zo's short story mostly because I do not have much in mind. I like to keep it mysterious, as if the disfigured creature was like a ghost or a legend you only hear in stories. But if there is a sort of Part Two to Heroica, I would like to think a familiar face may return. That is assuming I am still able to access the forums in my spare time, of course.

Thank you for having me for Quest #158, it was pretty fun. I may post my critique on it when I get the chance. Chances are that #158 will be my last quest ever as I have been losing interest in Heroica and I have often felt that it has become a chore to keep up.
  17. Addok-Zo rests his right index finger, middle finger, and thumb beneath his chin and starts to ponder. "I guess I'll take some gold, potions, and that overcoat." He then directs his attention to the Tridentians. "Ehhh, nothing too special - we killed the bad guy, saved the day - all in a day's work." He then tries to change the subject. "So what will come of you guys know that Calder Den is dead?"
  18. Addok-Zo attacks Calder Den from the Back Row.
  19. Addok-Zo repeats his attack.
  20. Addok-Zo attacks Guy from the Back Row.
  21. Getting slightly annoyed by the situation, Addok-Zo grunts and speaks to the decrepit old man. "Time for talking is over. We both know how this has to end." He lifts the crossbow from his back and readies himself for the ultimate fight. Clearly he has gone mad with power and cannot be talked down to use his obtained strength for good. "You ready?"
  22. Addok-Zo dusts himself off. "Let us not waste time."
  23. Addok-Zo repeats his attack.
  24. Addok-Zo shoots Bodyguard 6 from the Back Row.
  25. Addok-Zo repeats his attack.
