Mizuki winces in pain and says to Haldor, "Give her a quick death for she has fought well." before grabbing some bandages and wrapping her injured midriff with them.

Inside, Haldor was crying out, but in the heat of battle, he couldn't find the words. The berserker blood was running thicker than ever before, inciting a deep violence within the nord - he yearned for the quick-release of blood and fury. But despite this ages-old unnatural call, he had not yet been consumed wholly, there was still a corner in the back of his mind that fought-back against the viking's curse. Haldor was not yet a monster, and he held onto hopes proved true that this blood lust would fade soon - as it always did, as it always had done. But then the crowd were roaring, eager chants for the spilling of lifeblood filled his already-clouded head with angry whispers. The greenskin woman was lying weak on the floor, greatly injured, but still breathing. The watchers were calling that he finish her off.

"I... can't. This... wrong. I... will... not... murder."

The voices cried louder.

"No! Damn it, no!"

Behind his eyes, another, darker voice cried out. "Do it! Do it!", Haldor could no longer control himself. The weight of his burden rang loud, threatened to crush his skull. He had no hope of resisting any longer, the nord knew that. It was an abhorrent, brutal thing. Charging forward, sceptres drawn, screaming an unwanted battle cry of filth that he hated to utter. Before long he was there, weapons raised high, crying out. The fragment of his humanity long-since locked out by his bloodline's 'gift', he felt close to collapse. Soon it would be over, he prayed, soon it would be done. He would never have to go through this again, Haldor fragile vowed, hating himself for this brutality.

"I... can't. Forgive me."

Haldor stumbled backwards, retching. He looked down at his sceptres, matted with blood, and felt a horrible sickness rising in his throat. The insulating effect of the berserker blood was fading - Haldor's senses returned, and the horror of what he had done hit him hard in the gut. There was no honour in this killing, no blessing to be gained - this was not a fight that a nord takes pride in. Murder, the slaying of an unarmed foe is inhuman, Haldor knew that. Those who fought battles against those who were weak or could not defend themself had no place in Valhalla. Thoric would not smile on this deed, nor his earthly friends. This was the mark of a man that Haldor could not, would not become. The nord coughed up bitter blood onto the dry arena sands.

"What is this? What the hell are we doing? This is not a fight, this is brutal and needless slaughter. These men, they do not need to die. What the hell are we fighting for? This hellhole of a city, where men and women clash swords for the sick entertainment of the crowds. I do not know these men - I have no quarrel with them, I will not be their executioners. I stand this no longer."

With a roar of disgust and fury, Haldor tossed his weapons violently to the ground. He spat a mixture of blood and bile at his feet, hate for his deeds and hate for those enjoying this rose high in his mind. But he must not let his anger get the better of him, not again, lest his darker brutal side return again and carry his body to fight. The nord slowly turned his gaze up to the cheering, chanting crowds, their gleeful faces in stark contrast to the bloody scene they bore witness too. He hated them. He hated their ignorant, greedy smiles, their deceitful, sparkling eyes. Not one of them has seen true battle, nor felt the heat of conflict as they fought for their lives against desperate men. They know nothing of the world, if they did, they would know that such brutality is to be despised, not loved.

And at his reluctance to kill the orc woman, and then spill yet more blood by finishing the bearded man; Haldor sensed a change come over the crowd. Their cheers turned to boos, their adoration to irritation. Insults and objects were hurled, dust stang Haldor's eyes, his wounds bled painfully. They jeered, chanting catcalls in their childish voices, unable to stand the sight of a man who could not do what they so desired. They wanted blood, but more than enough was already soaking deep into earth. The nord couldn't hold himself back any longer. He shouted, screamed, roared - voice thick with venom.
