George G. Posted July 9, 2012 Excalibur Figures I created all the torso decals myself and printed them onto sticker paper. My favourite torso has to be Captain Britain's, but my favourite detail of all has to NightCrawler's tail :) Here are the figures in action, facing off against my custom Doctor Doom! Spider-Man Posted July 9, 2012 Really nice! I would like to see some more pictures of each fig close up though Especially since you said how good Night Crawler's tail is!
ED-209 Posted July 10, 2012 They all look great, especially Captain Britain! I always liked this version of his costume, but the mask would be quite tricky to reproduce!
XimenaPaulina Posted July 10, 2012 Brilliant custom works George! Loved the use of the genie head for Nightcrawler, so is the clever hand for his tail. The decals look great too, and of course that awesome building!
def Posted July 10, 2012 The work is really well done, but doesn't feel like Excalibur to me. I was a reader for the original few dozen issues, so maybe you were going after a different era than me. <Wow, Isn't Alan Davis the best?> Some things that would make a big difference, and are probably really easy to do are: -Make Shadowcat's hair darker than Rachel, since she is a brunette and Rachel a redhead. -Make Megan a smiley character. In that cover, she has a semi-dramatic face, but usually Megan is a very chipper character. -Give Megan bigger hair. She was usually the voluptuous type, rather than the restrained type. -Give Captain Britain blond hair. Really, he needs the mask, but if that's difficult, he at least needs blond hair. Your painting is really clean, and I have affection for the characters, so I'd love to see them even more realized, and even better, I'd love to see Widget
dr jones Posted July 10, 2012 Does your nightcrawler have a beard? Nice decals though!
Spider-Man Posted July 10, 2012 I think it was a good choice to go with the genie head for a semi-purist look. It is the only blue male head we currently have

I've never read an Excalibur comic, just looked at some pictures on the internet, so I guess you're the expert . What I was going for was more of a stylised/modern version of the team. - I kept Captain Britain pretty much the same as the original, just without the mask which was decided because of decal issues and I thought he looked pretty neat without. And I'm sorry about the hair colour, I've never seen under the mask - For NightCrawler, I went for a near identical copy of the original just with a beard because that's what was on the face! - For Marvel Girl, I was basing it off this: http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/24500000/Phoenix-x-men-24518303-757-1056.jpg as I could make it seem a little more modern and "human". - For ShadowCat I was going for a traditional X-men outfit as shown here: http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs50/i/2009/298/c/6/Shadowcat_by_windriderx23_by_Pinkypie1.jpg . I was using her hair as a filler and it just kind of stuck with the outfit, so I kept it. - And for Meggan, I used this: http://www.alandavis-comicart.com/images/Meggan.jpg , just with a little more black. The hair is the only blonde one I have, and you have to let me off for not knowing that she was very smiley

The hair is the only blonde one I have, and you have to let me off for not knowing that she was very smiley I was a reader only for a fraction of their run, though it seems I'm more of an expert than you About your comments: -Marvel Girl has repeatedly changed costumes, so there is no proper one. I can think of four off the top of my head, and none were iconic. The one in the cover I showed is perhaps the most original, but I think it only lasted a few years. So, no worries. -Shadowcat changed her costume a lot too, and I think the traditional X-Men outfit is fine for her. -Meggan and Captain Britain were both very blonde. Meggan was some kind of fairy character, very naive and innocent, so always chipper. A quick head replacement would make her much more Meggan-like. She was a favorite to me as a 13-year old, so I'm probably most critical of her minifig I don't even know who out there loves this series, so maybe this is silly advice, but those little details would get you closer to "Excalibur"
