LDD Kills my sound card

Recommended Posts

Im not sure if others have reported this. When Im using LDD I get the annoying 'brick click' sound... then after a while it disappears; and all other applications loose sound options as well (e.g. skype, Video Lan Player etc). It needs a reboot to get it working again.

Windows XP SP 3.

Lenovo X200

Conexant High Definition Smart Audio drivers v221

This happens regularly - whenever I use LDD - but not when I use any other application. I can also replicate it by entering hibernate mode with LDD active. When I restart the sound will be dead.

Oh well.

Strange. There is a known bug on Mac with the sound: "A sound error can occur in OS 10.4 which prevents LDD from running. This issue can be fixed by downloading and installing a patch, which can be downloaded "

However, I never heard anything about PC problems. What version of DirectX do you have (DirectX sound drivers that is).

Will the problem go away if you download the latest DirectX from Microsoft?

Good question on the DirectX. I will check - definitely version 9.C or above - as I also have the Direct X SDK installed for development work (using Irrlicht graphics engine).
