Men of Rohan

Recommended Posts

Here is my rather small army of Rohan Men.

I made them out of some of the spare castle pieces I have left, this was a good idea as it make them all unique qhich is good. I wanted them to have a rough appearence as they have not many supplies and old weapons and armour. This is where some of my old torso worked well. I chose to use only brown, grey and red as these are what i interpreted from the movie. Also, I tried to use rough looking faces to make them all seem like the old men protecting the fortress.

Anyway, here are some deep links:

And the folder - http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=93977

Of course, I need to make more Uruk-hia (see my other post) to face them, and once I've got helms deep finished (2-3 weeks, I need more bricks first!) then there will be some battle scenes.

Enjoy,

Jon.

I think you did a good job on the colours, and the "roughness" is pretty good as well. I don't know how many different "old" faces there are out there, but I found a good store at bricklink that had tons of different faces. I'll try to look it up for you, even though you might not be looking for more faces at the moment. I don't know how old you are, but when I was a kid there was only only the standard grin faces to choose from. Not even lipstick for the girls. So I've ordered tons of different new faces now for my comics, and I think it really adds a lot. My little group of Rebels should team up with your cool army of Rohan Men and fight Evil together :) http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/29749941

As I've said before, I love all your LOTR stuff, and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of how this diorama develops. Good luck!

MisterMattias: Thanks again, I used quite a few different faces but some are duplicates. If you could remember the store then that would be great as I could do with a couple more people.

Your Dream Team sure look mean! But I doubt my Rohan army could beat the imperials with spears and bows! :P

Apo: Thanks as well, I also like how I got lots of different results. It is much better than having just a standard army with the same uniform etc..

where is theoden with its unique armor???

Don't worry, he will be coming soon!

Jon.

I could have pm:ed you about this, but there might be other people in here that would want to know the link to a good place at Bricklink if you want to get some new minifig heads. So, here it is: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=gmpurist (click on "Minifig, head" in the window to the left)

I think I ordered 25 different heads the last time I ordered something from there :/ I don't know if they're expensive or not, but I thought it was good to have so many of them to choose from at the same place. And I didn't care that much about the cost. I needed heads, and ordered them. So please, DON'T tell me if you find them a lot cheaper somewhere else ;)

Woaw, 1,5 dollar for an nba minifig head :o I dunno if the price are correct or not, bricklink has always been a little bit higher than other websites, but you know what you buy and you're sure to get what you ask for.

I wish I could see more fleshy tones on this website since I need a lot for my personnal project :'(

I like the collection of men for the army. Nice ragtag group there. I like adding the brown arms to those torsos, changed the look a lot surprisingly.

This is a great creation of LotR, I really dig Legolas! But saying that this topic is 7 years old....TheLegoDr you shouldn't bring up too many old topics, for most users don't want their own topics bumped.

The LegoDr has to win some sort of "thread necro" award.

Why would a user possibly not want their own topic bumped?

Wow, I am glad you guys pointed out how old the original thread was.

Althought this does make me think about how many great threads I have not seen as I am a newer member. I will need to go back to some of the early pages and see what I have missed (but not Necro those threads of course. )

And TheLegoDr I agree, when you change the arms to a different color it does impact hwo the torso looks as well. Some combos do work better than others though. :classic:

I meant that users with newer topics have theirs bumped down by older topics. Though it is cool to see some things that you missed.

Sorry everyone. I am a new member and was browsing through older posts trying to get ideas for my own MOCs and seeing the creations of other members.
