Jezc Posted August 12, 2019 Hi all My name is Jez and I have a slight confession to make. I'm not so much of a Lego expert or user as the people on this forum although I've grown up playing Lego and spent not inconsiderable sums on buying my children Lego over the past 10-15 years! I've joined because I'm looking for people who might be interested in helping out on a music heritage project I'm currently working on in Birmingham but I thought it would be rude to just post without saying hello The project is concerned with the Methodist Central Hall which is a 1903Grade II* building (one of only 5% in the UK) and is currently closed (for three years now) and sadly deteriorating. For a period is was the centre and Dance and Rave culture in Birmingham as well as playing host to gigs by David Bowie, Blur, Suede, Pulp, PJ Harvey and lots of others. What I was wondering is if the Lego community ever takes on projects to recreate buildings in Lego? I'd love to have the Methodist Central Hall built in Lego and then displayed at the various events and exhibitions we have planned next year. Is this something the Lego community might be interested in and if so, how or where would be best to post to see if people wanted to get involved? I've attached a couple of pictures of the building so you can see what it looks like. http://43570583481_c429df4db3_b by jez collins, on Flickr http://Version 2 by jez collins, on Flickr Thanks for reading! Littleworlds Posted August 13, 2019 Hi Jez and welcome to Eurobricks! Don't worry about fitting in here. Not everyone can be an expert. And I'm certainly not one either. & fingers crossed for your project!
Tezclatipoca Posted August 16, 2019 Hello and welcome ! don't worry ! The expertise will come by talking, exchanging ideas and by building ! It takes time. Concerning your project, I would advise you to talk to the city forum as it is a modern building or perhaps to the scale modelling team as modelling is the main concept. good luck with your project. leafan Posted September 14, 2019 Welcome to Eurobricks, @Jezc! I am *very* familiar with that building; you must live very close to me. I was turned away from entry to many a rave in that very building lol.
