allanp Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 As long as you follow the rules you should be fine Quote
jantjeuh Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 So have we actually worked out / agreed what is needed for a moc to qualify as Model Team? Outside covered in studs and tiles, innards Technic. Should have some functionality. That's all there is to it Quote
BigCatBoy Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Hi, new member here. I may or may not qualify for this contest with the build I had in mind. I'm pretty sure it's model team style (I use bricks for body and bricks and technic pieces for chassis), I'm building an Icon Bronco. I re-read the rules for the contest to see if I qualify or not, but there was nothing clear stated concerning my situation: Problem is I already had 90% of the truck built when the contest was announced. And, it is primarily 16 studs wide, with the exception of mirrors, the tires sticking out a little, and some plates stuck sideways on the rear fender. The design (in LDD) started last month, and I recently received majority of the pieces for it so I went ahead and put it together, until the contest was announced. If I don't qualify, no problem. I may be able to finish it in a couple weeks when the final pieces arrive in the mail, and I can start a topic on it, unless if I don't qualify, in which case I'll just start a normal topic on it just to share it! Zerobricks Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) IMO if the ships can bend rules by being 16 studs wide why cant your car be? And welcome! Edited August 16, 2014 by Zblj Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 If you haven't published anything of your MOC yet, I see no reason why it can't enter the competition... You're just lucky that a competition came around when you were about finished Quote
BigCatBoy Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Now that I've gotten some rest (stressful business trip), I see I have nothing to worry about. I'll post a topic with a photo to start things off. Quote
Mark275 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) Hmmm, I'm in a kind of dubio. Shall I make a model with more functionality or better looks? (Basically in my case suspension or no suspension as I'm planning on building a Land Rover Defender 110)? (I'm too young to have played with a Model Team set and don't have a clear 'feel' how a Model Team model should be.) BTW: Jim, would it be nice if everyone that enters (and maybe some others, if they want to) donate a small amount to you in order to finance the prizes? Edited August 18, 2014 by Mark275 Quote
Milan Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 You should focus more on the look of the model. That is what model team is about. Realistic overall look, proportions, and details. There should be functions, but minimal. Suspension is ok, but no needed. Quote
BuilderMax Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) So when will the entry topic be made? I want to see some entries already. Not that I rush or anything but I am curios to see some. Edited August 18, 2014 by BuilderMax Quote

Jim Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 So when will the entry topic be made? I want to see some entries already. Not that I rush or anything but I am curios to see some. Each contestant needs to make a discussion topic, so be on the lookout for those first. BTW: Jim, would it be nice if everyone that enters (and maybe some others, if they want to) donate a small amount to you in order to finance the prizes? Thanks Mark, but no need to worry about the prizes Quote
jantjeuh Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Jim is really rich guys. In fact, he told me he will be handing out rare Model Team sets to everyone if you guys behave. Quote
Jim Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 Hehe I was actually thinking about Volvo's, but if you like old used MT sets better....that's fine by me </dreams> <reality> If I ever make it into the Fortune 500, I will see what I can do Jantjeuh Quote

jantjeuh Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 If I ever make it into the Fortune 500, I will see what I can do Jantjeuh Well then get to working, you lazy bum! By the way, hoping to see some of the 'pro' Model Team builders like Lasse D, Bricksonwheels, Ingmar Spijkhoven and Sariel enter! Quote
legomuppet9 Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 why can't we make it with ldraw :P? i don't have studded parts to build something like this! :( people who don't have the parts *me included* can create a topic with a [MTD] (model team digital) tag but after much discussion... the decision was made not to allow digital entries into the actual competition Quote
Ttimman Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 I hope I can make something for this! I've got so many ideas, and i can't choose between them! Quote
Appie Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Toss me one of your ideas, because I am drawing a blank still Quote
Tommy Styrvoky Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I have plans for a hot rod based on a Ford model A chassis. Quote
Marcel1980 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Can i take a shockbreaker apart for the spring? Quote
Milan Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Can i take a shockbreaker apart for the spring? I would say yes. If turntables and wheels/tires can be dismembered, shock absorbers should be allowed, too. Quote
