Justin Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Even if they were to bring back the monorail system, they would have to build new molding machines to make the tracks and the electric parts, as well as the monorail train chassis, since the old molding machines are now lost to time, being buried into the foundation of one of the LEGO factories... Quote
FGMatt Posted February 16 Posted February 16 If they ever do re-do a monorail, I'd guess they'd use a re-manufacture of the old tracks, with a Technic-compatible sprocket unit. That could then work with existing components for (remote) control. Quote
Xeldritsie Posted April 10 Posted April 10 I would like to see a thrift shop, or even a vintage fashion shop. If LEGO Friends is able to have one, then LEGO City can benefit from that. Quote
jonwil Posted June 13 Posted June 13 I would like to see the new airplane parts (like that stair door) from the Air Ambulance set used in a private jet. We haven't had one of those in City since 2016 and a new one would probably look good with the new stair door and things. Quote
TeriXeri Posted June 13 Posted June 13 I think next year, there could be room for an Airport set (friends airport and hospitals are retiring so City versions seem very likely for 2026), and the medical airplane feels out of place without. I don't expect major new systems yet, as Road Plates and Rail sets are still around for the next year. Quote

I could see the next airport in the style of 60422, with a 6 wide plane, an airport modular building with a working conveyor belt and a control tower. I also predict we will get a hospital and it’ll look modern and will also be a modular style one too. I think we will get a new passenger and freight train too, as well as a railway excavator. Maybe we might get a dump truck in the style of 60471. And also a front loader too to complement the bulldozer, excavator and crane, or maybe a crawler crane. Soapbox type sets I think will feature a police themed, doughnut themed, burger themed, tractor themed and a robber themed. I would also like to see a new combine harvester with the working engine functions as seen on 60466. Quote

I just hope we get an actual fire engine this time. And is there a possibility we get a train in January? 60198 is set to retire December 31st, which is unusual for the wide release trains, and the Artic One is meant to replace 60336 so 60470 wouldn't be the next cargo train. As for the passenger train there's no public data showing it's retirement date. Edit:I find it unusual to see more police and fire sets in this post-2023 era, as Chris Stamp stated the Designer Team doesn't stand with the replacement ideas they once had with police and fire, so it might be full of newer ideas? Maybe police and fire in 2027? I’m still hoping for some new soapbox sets like a police themed soapbox. Plus we also get trains in the summer too usually. Plus they do passenger trains every 4 years so I feel like another one is due Edited July 4 by Izzynufc-2 Quote

After June 2023 the City team ended the typical cycles for new sets. Nothing is as predictable as before. I think we might get a train sooner than usual, it wouldn't make sense to have a cargo train gone without a replacement. (Artic Train is a combo style of Train). We might get the trains sooner, if this year's police wave was released in June, then maybe the Trains can have a different release. But I hope we don't get another full wave of Space Sets, it's too much. Quote

As they released a 4+ ambulance and breakdown truck in 2024 and then in 2025 we get non 4+ ambulance and breakdown truck. Do you think we’ll see this cycle again? Quote

And dogs get a bunch of playgrounds etc. And other small animal sets like hamsters or guinea pigs. Not that I dislike Friends at all, but would be nice to see some focused sets with the minifig-styled dogs and cats as well, not just most police or fire dogs, but actual pet-focused City sets. Also Friends sets with animals are generally cheaper, 42648 Panda Sanctuary has 3 pandas in friends style (so not full city-bear size), which if it were a city set, it'd probably be close to double the price and include a vehicle. Also not saying that every friends animal type needs to be copied and minifig-ized (or whatever you want to name it), as the animals are perfectly useable with minifigs , but a dog park or cat cafe in City / 3-in-1 style with at least some minifig style dogs and cats could be fun to see. City could use some more horse sets as well, but so far, minifig horses in general entering an era with just 1 color available unless they add / rework the horse model in 2026 or something. Powered by Bricks Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Not related to these recent discussions, but could we Fairground/Theme Park subtheme? In the current decade we’ve got 1 set for both themes (60313 and 60421). Currently the Theme Park sets are part of Creator 3in1 but Fairground hasn’t technically been part of a theme. One of my favorite sets ever is the 2014 Fairground Mixer and I sure would love to see a City version of it. Quote

Mr. Elijah Timms Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I’ve been saying his now for a decade, but especially now with so many unique parts ideally suited to it… it’s the perfect time for a ZOO subtheme. Or, more appropriately, a modular zoo wave. Lots of fencing, rock droppings and habitats balanced nicely with bigger buildings like the primate house or gift shop, etc, even a poly bag with street vendors or face painting… could be lots of fun, and DIFFERENT! and instead of a people in the park set, how about a fig pack JUST of zoo animals and park workers?? LEGO very likely won't do actual ZOO sets anymore. From the bricklink designer program guidelines https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/guidelines.page "Avoid depicting wild animals in zoos, circuses, aquariums or other situations that are designed for human entertainment. Please only show wild animals in their natural habitats." Even duplo completely stopped Zoo sets despite it being the product line having a lot of them in the past , now they do "Wild Animals" like 10446 3in1 Wild Animal Families Although the aquarium part "rule" has been broken by LEGO themselves , even in 2025 , there's 11204 Mermaid Gabby's Aquarium Adventure (exception to the rule is probably that it's from a movie, not from LEGO themselves), and they'll probably look past things like the aquarium from 2024 80113 Family Reunion Celebration as it's likely a goldfish/koi , not a "wild animal" (and fishing / cooking is allowed with the fish/food elements) Edited July 12 by TeriXeri Quote

I’d like to see a Greyhound or Rottweiler There have been a few more , but mostly bulldog and labrador, and a few Chihuahua tiny dogs. 2020 had white bulldog with red collar, and brown bulldog with blue collar. 2021 had brown Labrador Retriever (LEGO's description) and a Tan one in Family house (and 2023 downtown) Husky was recolored once for jurassic world but showed in City in 2022. 2023 had a Tan french bulldog earlier made for 2017 CMF, and other 2021/2023 sets 2024 had a few new dogs , with the white bulldog coming back but with a teal collar, and then the labrador coming back , but with a vest, Tan+darkgreen vest in 2024 advent calendar , and then the brown neon yellow vest versions for police, fire and generic silver print version in the red tram set. And there have been a bunch of recolors of the shepherd and pup meant as wolf or in other themes, like the bulldog with blue collar and different print is in a harry potter set, as well as darker shepherd prints in harry potter or monkie kid and others. Perhaps Friends looks like they got more dogs as they aren't used in minifig themes, and a lot of them are recurring named cats and dogs as well, still the moulds have more variation imo, especially this terrier type is very different and made in Tan, and Black as well. And there have been some weird dogs in those play cubes in random colours : (just type in part search for Dog on something like rebrickable and there's a year filter, gives a good visual idea of most dogs etc) Edited July 12 by TeriXeri Quote
Driver Brandon Grumman Posted July 12 Posted July 12 1 hour ago, Izzynufc-2 said: City has been doing very well in reviving the old subsidiaries from the late 90s and early 2000s recently as subthemes under the City theme. City has done Space, Arctic, Divers and even Trains if you want to count those. This year, they have revived the Race subsidiary under the F1 subtheme. Though it wasn't under the old Town sets like the former subthemes I mentioned, Sports was another theme that was pretty prominent in the early 2000s. So I think it would actually work under the City theme, especially if it were Soccer based like the one from the early 2000s. Quote
