I think the reason we haven’t had one yet is a combination of things. Firstly, we have some ‘castle adjacent’ themes, notably HP and the ever-growing castle bits that delivers. We also have large and expensive Castle sets such as Blacksmith and Creator which feed the hardcore fans. Plus we have just had a D&D CMF and exclusive set. Mostly though, I think the normal CMF series have been an exceptionally rich source of Castle figures, arguably more so than any other subtheme, aside from costume figures, which did not come with an existing fan base. From the earliest series exclusive and desirable CMF figures, often very army-buildable, have been the mainstay of CMF series. They remain popular and a draw to the series as a whole, and are very lucrative/expensive on the after-sales market. Just look up any of the knights, elves, forest folk, or even the questionable centaur. All of that suits Lego, keeping the Castle fans fed, but also not having to resurrect a full theme, relying on chase figures and big D2C sets. Quote

I can understand why Lego is doing a lot of knight factions this year. And they released MTS last year. But i think it’s becuase we had D&D series last fall that it’s too close to Castle series? D&D CMF series are very useful for Castle fans. 1 minute ago, williejm said: We are all AFOLs here, I don’t think you made too much of a boob. Lol, i know. Hmm, actually, I don´t. If we would get a castle CMF, I would expect them to include remakes of old factions and new castle/fantasy figures similar to what the space series included. But I don´t think the remakes will include any of this years new factions but mainly older, more iconic factions - however, I could totally see them including the raven knight there - but I would at the same time expect it to be the newest faction to get an update. Well probably, since not every minifigure will be made for Army building, obiously. But at the same time, I think castle fans are easier to please than space fans, where most of them wanted to just get the old factions back - while castle fans are a lot about new usefull parts/figures for their medieval world. I actually think not any of those is actually a thing that speaks against a castle CMF - certainly more the other way round, since all those stuff (aside from HP, which IMO doesn´t play any role at all in this) show the demand - and while obviously we wouldn´t get a new castle series right after the D&D cmf, it showed how popular that kind of theme is, so to me it seems just even more likely, the only problem I could see there is, that they might rather make a second D&D series than a castle themed one. The HP stuff I don't think has any bearing on castle and other castle related things like LOTR and DnD. I mean they literally have all 3 on the shelves right now. We have castle, DnD and LOTR and all seem to be selling pretty well. But I do think we will get a Castle CMF sometime in the future and probably another DnD series too with how well that one sold. I’m personally expecting a new member of the Raven faction sooner rather than later. We’ve had a Black Falcon falconer and a Wolfpack beast master, and with other older factions using larger animals and us still waiting for a normally colored raven, it makes sense for the Raven faction to be the next one used for that little subtrope. Perhaps a battle witch or a court sorcerer. Quote

Me too, and a CMF with a raven, would be perfect and highly popular Lego are not stupid so they know very well that the modern retro Castle figs with an animal is the most popular in every CMF series they pop up in so they will continue to make them and a raven/crow knight makes sense to me at least Quote
williejm Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I also think that the AFOL faction chat is just that - AFOL chat. When putting together CMF rosters it’s fair to assume that they consider figures that look good, are fun, and engaging to the core demographic (remember, that’s kids). So it’s less about whose turn it is, and more about what figures are most appealing. That’s also why I think it’s reasonable to assume that some of the ‘new’ factions, like Kraken & Griffin knights, will get some corresponding CMF figures, which will both expand their ranks, and cash-in on figures that are already popular but less easy to get. Apropos of Raven Knights specifically, we’d have to be daft to think no-one at Lego was looking at how to put them and the Dreamzzz raven mould together somehow! Quote

A new upgrade on the Dragon masters, black knights and the crown knights would likely come before the raven knight in my opinion. Quote
Lyichir Posted July 31 Posted July 31 So the Spider-Verse series has trans-orange bases—the first time that base piece has appeared in a transparent color. Could offer some unique options for future series as well. Quote

I would be very curious to see trans bases show up in future future CMF series. Maybe trans-blue for Aquazone/Atlantsi/Aqua Raider CMF? Quote

Do a few updates of old themes, a mermaid and a sea monster or two, a helmet diver, someone in modern scuba gear, a Pearl diver, an underwater robot operator, an aquatic animal costume, and maybe even a selkie or another mythical creature – all on trans blue bases like the Space series had printed stars. Exactly! Sea CMF Series would be fantastic to collect a few minifigures from past sea-themed themes (Aquazone, Aqua Raider, Atlantis, Divers) while we would get Sobek (Egyptian crocodile god) or Dolph (Greek god of dolphins), submarine costuem fan, marine biologist, sea guardian (ideally, mermaid warrior with shell-tangled hairpiece) or shell-thronged spear). Not sure about Pirates themes…. They are bad to sea themes but they are not diving underwater. Quote

And yes, its also an excuse to get a bunch of unique pirates Quote
