ludov Posted June 13 Posted June 13 (edited) I’m getting very annoying Google Gemini popups and annotations: as I’m only getting them here, I suspect it’s a site setting or an ad that’s doing this. If so, can it please be turned off? Edited June 13 by ludov Higher res picture Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted June 13 Posted June 13 @Jim May you have a look and reach out, if needed? Thanks in advance @ludov Since when did you observe this happening? Quote
ludov Posted June 13 Author Posted June 13 @aFrInaTi0n I noticed it only today, but I’m not a daily visitor. Oddly enough, they’re now gone. I wonder if it was an ad that was injecting them. Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Shall we keep it as a weird hiccup for now? If recurring feel free to ping us again. Quote
Rogue Redcoat Posted June 13 Posted June 13 I also have this problem, it's like an ad and an AI summary smushed into one. Quote
ludov Posted June 13 Author Posted June 13 It’s an ad by “Chatconnect”. In the below screenshot barely readable under the standard ad control buttons in the top-right: Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted June 13 Posted June 13 I asked @Jim to take a look. Thanks for the details already! 💪 Quote
ludov Posted Tuesday at 05:36 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 05:36 AM Against better judgement I clicked on the grey banner a few times to see if I can find some origin. You get a mini page with ad, AI nonsense, and then the same ad. It’s not related to the ad that’s always at the bottom of the page. The banner title text can change while the page is open, so I will try to see if I can see some associated requests. I’m now getting them on pretty much every page now, it’s super annoying. Quote
Paul B Technic Posted Tuesday at 12:09 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:09 PM I have also been seeing this at times since late last week. Happening on all my devices (Windows Laptop, Chromebook and Android phone). Seems to come up at random. Quote
JesseNight Posted Wednesday at 12:54 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:54 PM I remember Jim saying 1.5 year ago that they were looking into an ad-free option with donations, did something ever come out of that? Quote
mahjqa Posted Friday at 06:50 AM Posted Friday at 06:50 AM Gemini is now inserting ads within users posts. This is getting out of hand. Quote

I can only advice a good adblocker (using uBlock Origin myself). Sorry if that's inappropriate to say, and yes I feel kinda bad for Eurobricks... But ads are just a horrible experience, and once again I wouldn't mind donating something directly. Quote
Jim Posted Friday at 10:13 AM Posted Friday at 10:13 AM This is annoying. I will check it out... It was an Auto generated experiment bij Google Adsense. I have stopped it. Quote
Paul B Technic Posted yesterday at 04:25 AM Posted yesterday at 04:25 AM I also found these were running on my blog, which I have also killed. Quote

JesseNight Posted 40 minutes ago Posted 40 minutes ago The whole point of this was for people to get rid of ads and provide an alternate source of income. You said "We really don't need much, so if there is a group of people who are willing to support keeping EB Ad-free (or at least obtrusive ad-free) that would be great." and we're happy to contribute to that, as an alternative to ads...
