12vtrain77 Posted Monday at 05:13 AM Posted Monday at 05:13 AM Spoiler I’ve tried making a lot of different 12V train layouts, but many of them felt too one-dimensional, so I’m looking for some help. I’m trying to find a 12V layout that uses: 50 straight tracks 48 curved tracks 1 crossing track 6 switch tracks (3 of each type) I’d really appreciate any layout ideas or suggestions. Spoiler Quote
Arthur12vtrains Posted Monday at 08:19 AM Posted Monday at 08:19 AM I have tried making a lot of different 12-volt layouts, but none of the ones I have made have been compact or good enough. Therefore, I am looking for help finding a layout with 50 straight tracks, 48 curved tracks, one crossing, and 6 switch tracks (3 of each type). could be really nice if i coud get some help. I have tried making a smaller version of this layout but it seems like i cant get i to work good enough. Quote

Murdoch17 Posted Monday at 01:56 PM Posted Monday at 01:56 PM (edited) I wish I could help you, but I'm not good with this stuff. Also, train tech is probably a better place for this. I'll ask a MOD for it to be moved. @Jim can you move this thread to Train Tech? He would probably get a better response there. Thanks! Also, @Arthur12vtrains, EB is not meant to host pictures. You'll have to host them elsewhere on another site (like Flickr or something) and then link them into your post. EDIT: I see you've already posted it there too. Maybe a MOD can merge the threads instead? Edited Monday at 01:58 PM by Murdoch17 Quote
zephyr1934 Posted Monday at 02:04 PM Posted Monday at 02:04 PM @Arthur12vtrains, welcome to Eurobricks trains! What constitutes a "good" layout and a "big" layout is very specific to the individual involved. The size and shape of your space along with the length and width of your trains are also key factors. So I doubt anyone here could give you a "good" layout. But many of us could give you suggestions on how to make your layout better in some direction you want to take it. It looks like you might already have Bluebrick lego track design software, if not, that is about the best place to start. You can make a layout, then copy it (or save as a copy) and refine the areas you didn't like on the previous version. Do that two or three times and you should get pretty far towards what you think a good layout looks like. Another nice thing about Bluebrick is that it will give you a part count. So you can keep track of how much track the layout requires. Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted Monday at 02:44 PM Posted Monday at 02:44 PM Have been so free to move the topic into LEGO Train Tech. Quote
LL1982 Posted Monday at 02:49 PM Posted Monday at 02:49 PM It depends on a lot as mentioned. How much space do you have? Floor, table? And maybe also what do you want? Do you want a loop so it keeps running, do you want to play a lot with a switcher layout. Do you want a train yard? Are trains the priority or also your city? I made a split in the end in my little lego room. One section really for the trains, they other section (which also has a train loop through it) is city and my kid and i build whatever we want there. 12vtrain77 Posted yesterday at 08:50 AM Author Posted yesterday at 08:50 AM (edited) I have a lot of space so I dont think the space is the problem so I would really like if any of you guys could suggest a layout to me. Spoiler Edited yesterday at 08:58 AM by 12vtrain77 Quote
Dav1d Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago The Trains Ideas Book 7777 has some track ideas You can also look at some set instructions e.g. 7722 Set 7725 Set 7745 All the 12V "train sets" had suggested layouts. They don't do this anymore. Quote
