Space alternate builds/box art

I'm lost for words when I look at these pictures. The alternate builds are so fantastic. I want to go back to 1989!!!!!!

Please share pictures if you build any of the alternates or your own alternate build. I once built my own alternate version of my favorite set 6886 Galactic Peace Keeper.

I do remember as a kid, I always wanted to build all the alternative creations on the box but with bigger sets I struggled a lot to get there. Worse was that there always came a day my parents wanted me to tidy up my room and get rid of all empty boxes. And there weren't any digital cameras or internet yet...
It's good to see some people still managed to save them all these years!

It was exactly the same for me. My parents were otherwise very supportive of my Lego interest but they forced me to throw away all my empty Lego boxes when I was nine years old. I had two huge towers outside my room built with empty Lego boxes and many more of them all around the house. I can understand it from their perspective but it was a sad day for me. The funny thing is that my dad suddenly got interested in Lego when he visited a Lego store with me last year and bought the Titanic. It was the first set he bought for himself since the 60s when he was a kid. He wanted to keep the box but my mom forced him to throw away the box. That's karma . Nowadays I have a lot of empty boxes in the basement from both old and new sets.

I'm at peace having lost the boxes and I can appreciate a clean and empty house myself these days. I'm just keeping whatever good digital scans I can find online. Oh I just remember, I think I may still have the box of one the last Technic sets I got in the 90s... Either the black super car or the space shuttle, not sure which one (since it's somewhere deep in storage).

I try to keep Lego in certain parts of the house (second floor and the basement) while I keep the first floor Lego free (mostly). When I build large sets and MOCs I usually use the dining room table on the first floor but I never leave Lego there once the build is finished. Some parts of some childhood boxes still exists and I framed parts of the box of my probably first set with one pamphlet that I used to look at for hours when I was a kid.
