I wonder what the balls in the corners of the trunk are for.  Maybe it lines up the panels the brakelights are on?

What are the parts behind air intake, at back of it?

Maybe the new mysterious element which gives the 42242 the 4x4 drivetrain with steering:).

One more picture maybe now you can see betterly the new part:).

Ok, the rear wheels seems to be new. They are apparently a wider version of the 42213 Ford Bronco wheel which this model uses in the front:).

Front is nice, new tires are always welcomed. The design of the rest would have been better in normal bricks. I don't get why this has to be a technic model.

Edit: What did they do with this front section? I mean: Why?

I'm seeing it as a 2 x 2.5 x 1.5 stud block, with a curve the same as the cam piece & small panels:

I think probably it just has the 2 axle holes visible at the top, and is decorative, cause the curves mean it can't have more connections on-grid with the 2 visible ones.  But it's possible it has another axle hole where the cam piece in my picture does, that starts at a half-depth offset.  Otherwise same functionality as piece 42135, but meant to look like an engine part.

You know, I like this set! It's a legitimately cool car real-world, and I think they got the styling (realistically the most important part for a set like this) right. Functions look like independent front suspension, a live rear axle, RWD with a V8, and steering, so it has pretty well everything you'd expect.

I was quite skeptical that they'd actually make wider rear tires for the rear, since I don't think it needs them, and Lego is usually pretty cheap about that kind of thing. It does seem to have a different tread pattern, though, so I guess it might be!

I haven't seen the movies, but was this Charger ever outfitted with off-road tires in them? It seems like a somewhat strange tread to use here if not, though I think it mostly looks fine. The huge sidewall on those well-suited rims does look really menacing.

Boring set. It's difficult to follow in the footsteps of 42111 from 2020. 42111 has more functions in smaller scale.

Are you sure this one is in a larger scale? My rough count has this one at 21 studs wide, and the old one at 23. And yes, it does have fewer functions, but is the only thing it's lacking the wheelie stand? That particular function was never worth much to me anyways. I can agree that it's boring in that it's repeating a topic, but I do think it's significantly improved from the last one

There's enough movies that you could say yes and no.  Dom's original charger was most similar to this wheel+tire setup (classic small wheel muscle car), then got bigger wheels, then in the 7th movie there's a Charger-body trophy truck.

Thanks, so probably they're going for the original movie look here? This is no full trophy truck build. I guess the off-road tread is unnecessary then, but I don't really mind; the overall wheel proportion setup looks great to me!

Well, i don't mind the "off road" tire pattern because some old school tires had very similar pattern but not excatly same. Glad this model didn't come with giant wheel hubs compared to the scale with really skinny tires like in the previous charger model:).

Maybe for some old cars, but I don't think it would have been for a performance car like this.--I think the one in your picture is a rather unusually modified one. Jundis' post above has a nice shot of what I would want the tread to look like. Still, I don't particularly mind, and I definitely agree that this is better than the skinny tires in the last one!

I wonder how it would look with the rear tires from the latest Ford GT. 49.5mm vs the 55.9 here. Probably not as good, but I'd be curious to see. That's a minor complaint, though, and I like the tires overall!

Sorry, Styling should not be the most important part for TECHNIC set...

You are right. It is taller than 42111 but simply looks bigger on the box with more parts.

Oh, I never said it should be, just that realistically it is for this type of set in the market

I'm sorry to say, I am very disappointed, it kinda sucks. I mean some of the body looks better than 42111 but the amount of stickers used is a huge turn off the hood styling is wacky and I don't see a wheelie stand. I will admit I do find the wheelie stand on 42111 useless but its the thought that counts, right? and the front barrette on 42111 is really annoying because of how brittle it is, but it still looks better. Overall I feel disappointed in this model.

P.S.

When did we get those new cylinders? Have I been living under a rock and just not noticed them before now?

The engine parts were introduced in 2025 in Ferrari and Red bull cars. This is the first non F1 car to have those and first V8 made with these pieces. (The F1 sets were V6) :).

Thanks I haven't paid enough attention to the F1 cars, though I need to as I just ordered one finally.
