danth Posted April 21 Posted April 21 As a Lego fan who only dabbles in Pirate stuff, I really like it. It may be smaller than the previous Creator pirate ship, but I like both alt builds better than the previous ones. Being able to make two nice looking smaller ships is a big win, IMO. Rather have one good set and leave to each ones imagination the buildind of alternative models. This is totally valid. If you're a Pirates theme fan, I totally get preferring cloth sails. Just like how Castle fans probably don't love brick built horses. Quote

The red kraken looks great though! I use 31088 squid as a kraken Don't know if this will be bigger and menacing. Edited April 21 by Siroco Quote
Akbalder Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Previous 3in1 creator pirate ship wasn't interesting to build. It relied too much on very small parts (ie: 1x1 round plates...). I hope that Lego has improved things for this one. Quote
Murdoch17 Posted Saturday at 06:11 PM Posted Saturday at 06:11 PM (edited) Official pictures are out! 31387 Iconic Pirate Ship 1074 pieces £89.99, $109.99, €99.99 the main model front / back of box all three possible models. Discuss! ( @Mister Phes can we change the topic title from "Rumor" to something else? Thanks!) Edited Saturday at 06:14 PM by Murdoch17 Quote
Franco Clarke Posted Sunday at 04:55 PM Posted Sunday at 04:55 PM Looking at the stern, this seems to be significantly narrower than the previous version. Quote
TalonCard Posted Sunday at 07:34 PM Posted Sunday at 07:34 PM I think we have a winner here! The main model of the original is better--significantly better as a base on which better ships can be built. But the alt models here are killer (particularly the two little boats, perfect for filling out a harbor scene), and it looks like they used the smaller size of the main ship to fill the deck out a little more, which I like. The octopus is a *huge* improvement over the derpy shark. (Don't get me wrong, I love the derpy shark, but the octopus I could see fitting right in with the other sea life.) And is this the first time since Barracuda Bay that we have *four* new pirate designs in one set? Amazing! And a new captain's hat to boot! I'm definitely going to want to pick up three or four of these over the lifetime of the set. Quote
hikouki Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Is there a way to MOC this with existing fabric sails? Quote
Murdoch17 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Since I never got around to making that MOC version of the Durmstrang ship from HP that Wurger49 came out with a few years back, I plan on using this new ship for my seven conquistador figs. (the ship maybe become a bit crowded, though!) All I have to do it take off the piratey bits, put a big ol' cross on the main sail, and add the Armada flag I got. To add cannons to the both sides at the same time, I may have to replace the shooting ones with brick-built ones, sadly. (Yes, I'm a heretic!) Needless to say, I'm excited for this set! Quote

This vessel seems to be a great improvement in some areas, while sacrificing certain aspects elsewhere. Clearly this one is meant to represent a galleon, which explains the absence of a figurehead. Even though this set has less pieces, somehow it feels more complete to me than the previous one. A good model, though I will not purchase it. On the other hand those torsos look tempting. Quote

SBCMayor Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I'm sure it won't take long for someone to do a Youtube comparison of both this and the original 3in1 ship. Maybe we'll even get a comparison of the alternate builds for both sets too. Quote
