OttoRiver Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I feel like Cinderella's Castle is the only viable flagship set, unfortunately. It's appeared in every Disney logo, is the center piece of two parks, and is instantly recognizable while allowing them to put a bunch of minifigures from different/classic properties without it breaking too much immersion. I'd love to see a bigger BatB castle (the current West Wing is a joke) but I don't know if a flagship set based on one IP is what Lego or Disney would want. I think Sleeping Beauty's castle is the next best compromise, not as famous as the Cinderella version but ionic as the Disneyland center piece with the same ability to throw in characters from other IPs. I'm sure the new Disney Castle undersold, especially based on how brief a period it was on shelves because why would there be any demand for it when the original castle was on shelves for so many years and the superior product? I can see that too. But BATB is one of Disney's crown jewels and it also has a castle represented in several parks (hence why the Lego set follows the purple color scheme). The fact that the original set was supposed to be full-size but Lego was worried it would conflict with their actual flagship set seems to indicate they also felt there was too much overlap between the two castles. nicknack116 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Are there rumors of a large ($300+) Disney flagship-type set coming this year? I agree that having Sleeping Beauty’s Castle would be great (even if I bought the newest Cinderella castle and moc’d it into Sleeping Beauty already). But I wonder if the sales of the newer castle have made them hesitate to release yet another similar castle. I wish they would make more micro scale park icons like the Haunted Mansion. I’m struggling to think of flagship Disney sets that wouldn’t be too niche. They could do a ride that’s generic enough for other uses. Like a new Ferris wheel (Pixar Pal-A-Round) merry go round (King Arthur Carousel with the sword in the stone) or a functional teacups ride. Quote

Aramar Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Lego should recolour the Bruni piece to make it Tom from Hoppers 🦎 Quote

They should have just: 1) Discontinued the Cinderella castle 2.0. 2) Came out with a full size BATB castle. I feel like now it is a bit too late... many BATB fans have bought the small castle, and a remake would be too soon. I also would have thought the Snow White cottage sold well but I felt like to got discontinued too soon. Perhaps because of all the controversy the movie and its actress attracted. LOL Quote
OttoRiver Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I don't know about that. The Cottage got released in March 2024 and retired December 2025 and the Beauty and the Beast castle came out April 2025 and is set to retire in December 2026. Seems like those 18+ sets are only set for a 2 year period. Would make sense to make them compete less with a flagship set to rotate out so soon. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted March 17 Author Posted March 17 The new Disney D2C is based on Main Street USA! The minifigs allegedly wear park mech like Mickey hats and Star Wars shirts Quote

nicknack116 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 As a Disneyland fan, I much prefer Main Street to an 18+ set based on a single film, so very happy at this news. Have they confirmed whether it’s minifigure scale or microscale? I could see both working like the Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade sets. Crossing fingers for minifigure scale to go with the train station. Quote
DisneyLego Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Really glad they went with Main Street. Both DL and WDW fans will be glad it’s not park-specific. Reallllllly hoping it’s minifigure scale! Also, the pizza planet set looks promising as it appears to not be a 4+ set Quote
hikouki Posted March 18 Posted March 18 This seems a very interesting choice! I'm hoping it is somewhat modular. If they plan on having this in minifig-scale, how much of the street can they fit within that budget??? Is this also going to be doll-house style with an open-back? Perhaps more like the play-style Marvel modulars??? I can't imagine them featuring a substantial part of the street and still have complete buildings like full modulars or the MOCs on RB. Quote
nicknack116 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Definitely not going to be full modulars. If it’s minifigure scale, I imagine it’ll be like Diagonal Alley/Hogsmeade with 16x32 baseplates and open-backed buildings. But the Disney Castles and Train Station didn’t use baseplates, so they could also approach it with regular plates like the play scale Diagon Alley and Marvel small modular street. That way it could just focus on the buildings and let people arrange them. With maybe a horse and carriage. Either way, I’m more interested in the exteriors of the buildings and they can make the interiors shallow. Just curious how much of the street they’ll make. Will it include City Hall and the Opera house? Anything from around the hub? Expecting them to make the partners statue a GWP… Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted March 18 Author Posted March 18 I like the idea of this set quite a lot! Hopefully it also comes with a parade wagon and costumed park actors Sure, the leak only mentions tourists, but it‘s hard to imagine a Disney minifig-scale set without any actual Disney characters I do wonder how they would differentiate the costumes from the actual characters though… We don‘t really know which of the two the minifigs in the first Disney Castle and the 2019 Disney Train set are supposed to represent Maybe both? Quote
Aramar Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I need to wait to see it, but I think the Main Street Sweet won't be for me..it will probably be a large and expensive set for which I have no place left. Let's see if it brings any Disney minifigure in addition to the normal guests. This year Lego seems determined to make me save money, since no set seems to bring new minifigures. Quote

It‘s not gonna be a minifig as such, but the Slinky Dog set is rumoured to come with a moulded Slinky too ^^ Granted, it‘s the only new Disney „minifig“ I can think of this year The Toy Story 5 set(s) will include new characters for sure, but none of them will be minifigs of course. Sheesh417 Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Are we sure the Main Street set will be minifig scaled or similar to the micro build diagon alley? I fear lego would opt for a $200 microscale set than a $400 minifig based set for Main Street. It would be a cool concept, with a castle and the partners statue at the end, but It would be a pass for me if it was not mini figure scale like the other diagon alley set Quote
BrickCity Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Certainly hoping for minifigure scale. But I’m skeptical. Main Street, USA (Disney World) is large. Unless it’s just one or two of the buildings, this set would be huge. Imagine Lego modular, upon Lego modular, upon Lego modular. Quote

I would not be surprised if it ends up being facade-only in order to be able to feature more buildings on the street and possibly be mini fig-scale as well. I can't imagine the set being micro-/ midi- scale given there will be minifigs included. Perhaps there will be parade floats? Or maybe that can be featured on another set? Quote
JeanGreyForever Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Since Main Street is themed to the Edwardian era, I wonder if there's any chances we could get minifigs of Mary Poppins and Bert? In the parks, they walk around Main Street in their Jolly Holiday outfits. 11 hours ago, hikouki said: Perhaps there will be parade floats? Or maybe that can be featured on another set? They dropped the ball on making more train carriages/parade float sets (like the Disney Celebration Train set), otherwise if we had a whole collection of those now, they'd fit in quite nicely on Main Street. They fit perfectly on Main Street. Disney Parks fans have had it pretty good, though. The list of Disney characters that appear often enoughin the Theme Parks as walk around/meet and greet characters but that also do not have LEGO minifigures yet is getting really short. Here are gaps I can think of: - Pluto (in theme park form) - Mary Poppins and Bert - Max Goof - Clarabelle - Pete - Baloo and King Louie - Merlin - Anastasia and Drizella (Cinderella’s step-sisters) - Country Bears - Mirabel - Merida - Joy and Sadness - Figment Would be great to check off more of these and get more cast members like the Haunted Mansion, but pretty good!
