Yeah I'm not a big fan...I think Shrek's head looks very big on his body. Probably because it was designed to sit on a Hagrid-like torso. His neck takes up all of the space at the top of his torso. Merlin and the Executioner do look pretty good. I also like the blind mouse. I don't hate Puss, Gingy, Fiona, or even Shrek they just don't appeal to me a whole lot. But maybe when they have their accessories and are seen in a better light in an official reveal I'll change my mind. It's happened before.

I think a buildable version of Dragon with Fiona's rescue is a great idea for a set.

We have seen massive disparity in character size being standardised in minifigure form in other licences - not least Disney, where Baymax, Jiminy Cricket , Chip & Dale, & the Genie from Aladdin are all curiously similar in size. I think it’s more noticeable here as this is an ensemble cast, which we regularly see together, rather than standalone characters. 

Potentially? I think it didn’t stand out as much with Disney as we’ve seen the mascots in the parks fit that same scale. Our brains already register it. 
 

Like you said this is an ensemble cast seen on screen at the same time where scale plays a huge part

Just spitballing, but it’s as good a theory as any. I remember a 6ft Jiminy Cricket being head height to Baymax parading round

Official photos are out. I like that if you get the whole series, you get all 3 blind mice, saves on having to Bricklink 2 more. Shocked Pinocchio has regular legs but I guess not too surprising given they gave Gingy regular legs as well.

Huh, some of the accessories are different from what was rumoured  So Donkey is Fiona‘s rather than Dragon‘s accessory, who now has none. The microphone is the Executioner‘s accessory rather than Puss‘, who instead has a blind mouse and a bag.

Overall, I‘m very happy with the series!  Nice to see all three blind mice being included too.

It seems like the angle of this series is "what would this character look like as a standard Minifigure?" rather than trying to make any of them for together proportionally, except for the odd ones out of Puss and Farquad that they have given short legs.

The new ones we hadn't seen before are looking good.

Merlin's accessories look weak unless there's something that isn't shown in the group shot, but still a good actual figure. I expected kind of weak accessories because that's always what happens when there are a lot of new intricate moulds for characters.

The only really bad one to me is dragon. A few others like Shrek and Fiona are questionable, but only Dragon has me saying "what were they thinking".

Love the inclusion of the 3 blind mice and magic mirror, completes the little fairy tale gang. Some of the other accessories seem a bit meh to me. 
 

Does Farquad look off to anyone else or is it just me? I don’t remember him being that tanned… I thought he was more light nougat than medium

Pinocchio is clearly the winner here

Have to say that these look much better in the official pics than the leaked ones. Pinocchio is the stand out character here I think. Shrek still looks a bit weird. The repetition of blind mice is both welcome and inspired. Those, combined with the Magic Mirror, and Donkey as an accessory, somehow make this a very generous-feeling ensemble. 

Executioner, Fairy Godmother, Charming, Merlin & Wolf are all solid figures. A shame that we get the less-iconic version of Puss, but hey, Lego gotta make you buy some sets, right?

I think Farquaad is the other figure that I struggle with. I think his proportions and angular face simply don’t transfer well to the minifigure head style, but I appreciate that Lego favours the standard head wherever possible.

Lastly Dragon, hmm. This one stands out as looking odd, but I think they did what they could with the minifig format, and it definitely looks better with the wings and and tail! To me it has similar ‘issues’ to Roadrunner in the Looney Tunes series, you can just aboot position it to look *okay*. but what it really needs is a bit of a play with the formatting of the figure. I think in both cases if the figure had been designed with different orientation, namely assuming it was bent forward at the waist, and with the tail and neck pieces angled accordingly, it would be fine.

Is it weird that I prefer the minifigures from the Ideas set that had regular minifigure heads instead of the specialised moulds? Most of the minifigures look strange to me, frankly.

Shrek and Fiona's head moulds are weird, and the printing doesn't help—they just don't feel like LEGO to me. Same for Pinocchio (the Disney one looks so much better) and the Cat in Boots. Even the Executioner looks off imo. Not gonna mention the Dragon, because I have no idea why that's a minifigure at all.

I also think that three minifigures getting the exact same accessory is super boring, even if it technically makes sense.

Prince Charming and Merlin look awesome though. Fairy Godmother and the Wolf are also great. I don't like Lord Farquad's faceprint, doesn't really resemble him. Donkey is cool and the Gingerbread Man didn't really need a minifigure, same as the Dragon.

Really mixed feelings on this one. I'm not a huge fan of Shrek, but I like all of the movies, especially the second one. Think I'm just gonna end up buying Prince Charming and his mother.

Pinocchio is the standout. Dragon is a weird choice for me, but not completely horrible.

For me, Shrek and Fiona look the worst and really tank the entire lineup. They just look really off, not like official Lego minifigs and they don't resemble themselves either. I don't get the lack of crown for Fiona either. She looks so incomplete without it. I almost think they should have made her minifig be of her as a human from the first movie since Lego does not seem to know how to properly depict these ogre head molds. There's no saving Shrek.

The human characters, like Farquaad, the Fairy Godmother, Prince Charming, and Merlin all work best as minifigs.

With the recent lack of Disney minifigures I was excited about the Shrek CMF. However, now that I have seen the images, I feel somehow disappointed. They are not bad, but there's something putting me of. Maybe it's the weird faces for Shrek and Fiona, or the inconsistent sizes of characters or some questionable chooses in terms of characters. I feel this series quality is quite lower compared to the 3 Disney CMF series. 

I need to think wether getting them or not.

I ogree with you, but then I find myself thinking we'll, I want Donkey, and if I have Fiona albeit not a great figure, shouldn't I get Shrek too even if he looks bad...

So all in all I think I'll end up buying all of them apart from Dragon (because oof no), Wolf (who is good but I don't care for that character) and maybe Pinocchio (who is a perfect representation but I also don't care about much).

Standouts for me are definitely Thelonious, Merlin and Prince Charming (despite lackluster accessories), followed by Fairy Godmother and Farquad.
