I was thinking earlier and maybe I am wrong but is Mandolorian and Grogu going to be the first film (minus the prequels) to not have some form of TIE fighter be released by Lego. Maybe they won’t have any TIEs or they aren’t that prevalent in the film. It’s not like I’m desperate for one either just found it odd that it’ll be 9 non-prequel films and the way SW pumps out merchandise Lego always had two constants new Stormtrooper type and some form of TIE.

Honestly I don't think we've seen a single one in full in the entire movie marketing- there's potentially a shot of interceptors following the razor crest, but it seems like nobody can tell what specifically they are. I'm sure they'll show up, but lego might not have been provided with any material showing them.

Yeah I know big actors have been in Star Wars but Gosling I think is on another level. I guess having lesser seen actors makes it feel more like a galaxy far far away. Part of it is also that the bigger Star Wars actors like Liam Neeson were different because I first watched them in Star Wars as a kid.

I mean, you've answered your own question there. You don't notice all the big names if you grew up with them as a kid, but objectively speaking Gosling isn't any crazier than someone like Neeson.

To be honest and this is probably way way way off topic now I still get the two Ryan’s confused and I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever seen a Ryan gosling film, when I remember that he’s the one who is not deadpool.

Dude I still get Gosling confused with Brad Pitt, I keep thinking "Man, F1-Hail Mary-Starfighter is such a crazy streak", but he wasn't even in the first one.

For most of the star wars target audience- which skews on the younger side- the only thing people will have seen him in is Project Hail Mary, or maybe Blade Runner 2049.

I'd argue Gosling is bigger than Neeson was in 1999, his only big movie at that point was Schindlers List, right? Which granted was a big movie. I'm not totally against Gosling being in this movie, I think he's a good actor but I guess I have a hard time imagining him in Star Wars. Kind of like if Brad Pitt, Leo DiCaprio, or Tom Cruise were to be in Star Wars.

David Tennant and Forrest Whitaker aren't really big actors, most people don't know who they are. Jack Black just proves my point, him and Lizzo were distractingly bad. The first four you mentioned are fair points, but none of them at the time were really as big as Gosling.

I think you underestimate just how insanely popular David Tennant's Doctor Who run was, that and the popularity of other shows he's been in, like Good Omens. He may not be as big here in the states as he is elsewhere, but he is a big name actor.

Just sayin'.

He's a voice actor though so it's not really the same anyways.

Actually I was thinking the other day that arguably the "hottest" / most relevant actor to ever appear in a Star Wars movie is Emilia Clarke in Solo as Game of Thrones was ending.

I do think Ryan Gosling is the maybe most relevant actor ever to star in a Star Wars movie? Liam Neeson and Samuel L were doing kind of whatever movies a few years before Episode 1 it looks to me? Liam Neeson has Schindler's List and Jackson has Pulp Fiction, but those are both further back from Episode 1 than Barbie is to Starfighter. I don't think either has a Project Hail Mary -tier hit right before Star Wars.

When we look back on careers, it might be that Liam Neeson or Sam Jackson are "bigger" actors than Gosling. However, I agree that Gosling is a bigger / more relevant star than anyone I can think of at the time of the movie.

Yeah both Liam Neeson and Sam Jackson had a lot of big movies after Star Wars which may make some people overestimate how big they actually were at the time. Obviously they weren't obscure but they weren't on Goslings level.
