OttoRiver Posted August 26 Posted August 26 The Disney Princess short dropped. It acts as a promo/story for the Princess Market Adventure set which is odd given how soon its retiring. Wonder if there was a delay and the short was intended to come out sooner. Anywho, the buildable Chernabog has me yearning for a real one. Going to try and break it down in studio. Black pieces can't be too hard to come by. Quote
Oky Posted August 27 Posted August 27 I also just watched the new special. Indeed an oddly timed ad for the market set, although the last special also dropped long after the castle that it was promoting was released. @OttoRiver already spoiled it, but I’ll put it in a spoiler tag anyway: Spoiler Yes, the big bad this time is Chernabog! He’s not very big and a fairly simple build, but I still hope that we get him in a set someday like we did with Maleficent! Even if it’s a stupid book nook like the balrog. (Sorry for the low quality pics) The Special also featured Sir Hiss Again, would love to get him, but this one is very unlikely I think Quote
JohnTPT17 Posted August 28 Posted August 28 This short was far weaker than the first one. The 2023 one had a ticking clock to complete the quest, each princess contributed something meaningful, etc. This one felt far more generic and boring (though I did at least appreciate the jokes about not knowing who Sir Hiss is and acknowledging Jasmine being missing). It could have been any mix of princesses, or even just one of them, and it wouldn't have changed the plot much. Bog Monster did look a bit Friend-ified and I don't know if I like the face just being a printed part like Molten Man, but at least it's a possibility. I do wonder under what circumstances they recorded Pat Carroll's lines, though - have they been sitting on these lines this long, or did they get repurposed from something else? Quote
hikouki Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Both the minifig sets from Wicked are on backorder. I hope this really sends a strong message to Lego that minifigs do sell well. No offense to mini doll lovers. Lego should make those for that segment of the market, but at the same time they should not ignore us minifig lovers. Quote

Since the Disney 100 waves, we’ve had quite a few minifig sets and the trend is continuing. I’d still like to see more, but it’s much better now than before 2023! Quote
thebricksbear Posted September 4 Posted September 4 I think lego is coming around to the idea that a huge part of their current rennaissance is due to minifigs being an IP-crossing toy system. Funko seems to be learning this too with their bitty pops and playsets. Nintendo allowing Animal Crossing and Zelda minifigs seems to indicate the entire toy industry is acknowledging minifigs as a popular toy even without bricks Quote

Mini dolls don't exist beyond the Friends and Disney themes, no? Over at IG and sometimes Reddit, whenever people post 'like' or clamor for more Disney minifigs and corresponding sets, there is the occasional (frequent, at times) 'dislike' or even outright hateful comment from a (supposed) mini doll follower. Anyway, I just recently saw a Reddit post showing some scalpers - they bought the whole stock of minifig Wicked sets from a store (should not have been allowed). Again reinforcing that demand is there, as it is 'backordered' on the web site and supposedly selling out at some stores. Quote
OttoRiver Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Speed Champions Lightning McQueen revealed. Have to say, between the Wall-E and Eve and now this, the Pixar buildables are killing it. Love how they captured his grin so well in brick form Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted September 5 Posted September 5 That is easily the best Lightning we’ve had so far!! The SC designers are killing it, as usual Quote
PGBQW Posted September 5 Posted September 5 This looks amazing, day 1 purchase for me. Cant wait to see the Delorean Quote

Rwbricks Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Lightning looks good! For me, the dip on the hood is too pronounced, and the fact that that recessed section is the only part to protrude from the rest of the front makes his “face” look off. I get why it’s protruding, with the arch piece, but I’m definitely going to try to mod it. Otherwise, though, he looks fantastic. Quote
doclord Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Has anyone put the new minidoll Maleficent and Cruella cloth elements on their respective minifigures? I'd love to see how they look. Quote
