Is it inevitable that half of the Marvel sets next year is going to use the smart brick?

I wonder if the reason why we haven't gotten the names of the other January 2026 sets is because of them being Smart Brick Sets (except for the $99.99 set, which I'm like 99% sure is a IW diorama).

Half of all 2026 seems way too excessive, I doubt they would commit that strongly to something that hasn't been a proven success.

Unless there's an initial 'starter pack' type set and each regular set comes with some sort of RFID piece that could connect to it and achieve a unique reaction.

It's an entire wave of LSW this year. Not half the year, but I think around a quarter or so. I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel did something as well- as smart (haha) as it would be to just be a couple sets, we've heard lego really wants to go all-in.

Another Hulkbuster is coming in January  How many more of these do we need?! It’s getting ridiculous

At least 2 more, one with a smart brick then another $1,000 one to be compatible with the new buildable Iron man

I hope it’s based on Age of Ultron at least as it’s my favourite design and it would be nice to get a Hulkbuster set with the Hulk. AoU Scarlett Witch, Ultron then Hulk with a new face print with red eyes would be a great selection. But I can’t see us getting that many figs

You need a Hulkbuster to bust the Hulkbuster that busted your last Hulkbuster that busted you sister's aunt's Hulkbuster, that busted your brother's second-cousin's Hulkbuster that...

(You get the gist at this point, I assume.)

I have my 50% or so off 76210 and some $20 Ransomfern instructions. I don't need another one.

If it is another huge one, I really don't see why they'd do it so soon? Maybe they think there's demand, but few bought 76210 as the design was so poor so they're having another go?

If it's a lot smaller and more accessible, then that's probably fine, to cater to the customer base churn. And means that a UCS slot can be taken by something more interesting.

With the buildable Iron Man and Hulkbuster, I think that leaves 3 sets still to be revealed.

I'm confident that 76343 ($49.99) is the Hulkbuster and that 76342 ($99.99),  that is rumored to be a diorama, is likely going to be the Titan Battle from Infinity War.

So that leaves 76341 ($59.99) and 76334 ($24.99) as sets with no rumored identity. Any Guesses on what those two sets could be?

I'm thinking 76341 is going to be a Baxter Building (there was a rumor we were getting 1 more F4 set) and 76334 is going to be an apartment you can attach to the mini-modulars (Uncle Aaron?)

I’m betting one is a Sentinel with Nightcrawler. Maybe 76334?

Hopefully not as it's just another idea that disconnected higher-ups have thinking that they need to add technology to Lego in order to get kids to buy it - as opposed to just making fun creative sets at an affordable pricing. It'll just be used, like everything else, as an excuse by Lego to increase the prices - so I am expecting another price increase in 2026 regardless of if the sets include the smart brick.

I'd expect that we'll see smart bricks sprinkled in specific sets to begin with. primarily in late 2026, before broadening out. The rumor is they've latched a lot of them onto the Pokemon theme, which given its nature should be a hit seller, so if they are smart they'd use public reaction from that to determine if they should include them in other themes - though naturally they'll have sets planned in advance and want to be testing the waters.

For Marvel I'd imagine it'd be in four/five sets in 2026. Probably the Hulkbuster, spaceship, creature build such as the buildable Rocket Raccoon/Groot and perhaps in one of the dioramas or 18+ sets. Though given a lot of the budget and focus should in theory be going to Spider-man: BND, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars it's possible that we'll be saved from a lot of the Smart Brick until 2027.

I imagine it would be 76334 if we got a Sentinel, likely a smaller version of the one we got prior featuring re-used characters from the mansion. I'd imagine Wolverine would feature, would pair nicely with the potential venomized version in 76336, and probably Magneto to add conflict and it'd sell well.

I haven't been keeping track as much as previous years, so the list below is probably incomplete, but I believe that is correct for January: 76334, 76341, 76342, 76343 - with one being the Hulkbuster.

I'd guess X-Men 97' Sentinel, Hulkbuster, Infinity War Titan Battle Diorama and probably another legacy set. Though honestly still hope that they revisit more of the Raimi Spider-man movies.

2026 List:

January:

On JediJACPenguin's website, we also have 7 untitled LEGO Superheroes sets coming in April/June 2026:

They are:

  • 76345 18+
  • 76346 12+
  • 76347 9+
  • 76348 9+
  • 76349 7+
  • 76350 8+
  • 76354 18+

https://jedijacpenguin.com/everythingweknowaboutLEGO2026.aspx#LEGO_Super_Heroes

I feel like the 18+ sets are busts. the 12+ set could be a Daily Planet set (similar to Oscorp), the 9+ sets are smart brick sets,  and the two others are Brand New Day sets

Thanks, I'm unsure how many of these will wind up being Marvel though as I'd imagine that they'd have already allocated at least three sets to Spider-man: BND and probably an initial wave of four/five sets to Avengers: Doomsday based on concept art.

I would'nt be entirely surprised if around half of those end up being DC sets, such as a comic-inspired Daily Planet, 'The Bat' with Bane & maybe Talia from TDKR (Pair with 76303) and an Expansion set for the Arkham Asylum.

For Marvel I could see them going comic-inspired Baxter Building, another legacy set and at some stage potentially another D2C Hulkbuster to display alongside the buildable Iron Man. Though I'd probably be more partial to an Iron Man's Malibu Mansion for display purposes for figures.

My brother in the force,

We just got news that the DC March wave consists entirely of Batmobiles. Lego’s not giving them an edge over Marvel like the one you’re describing.

Do modulars usually get expansion sets? Would love to see the Daily Planet though.

For a comic-inspired Baxter Building, I wonder if we'd get actual comic minifigures for the team. At least the Oswald minifigure exists with dual molded blue/black legs since we know any potential FF minifigures won't get any.

Wouldn't EUR 60 be too little for a Baxter Building? Oscorp was like EUR 130 if I remember correctly and even if you forego the sidebuilds that one had, EUR 50 these days gets you one small bodega and a car, or alternatively Peter's apartment. Definitely not a skyscraper!

I'm betting a Baxter building modular is a lock, especially being in Doomsday in some capacity. The fact that the Galactus set will still be on shelves helps a lot, I think, but I'd also bet on some duplicate figs (maybe a flame Johnny or shirtless Ben?).

Being a comics version or MCU version I think is irrelevant now because the comics over time, adjust to incorporate MCU designs. There isn't a definitive Baxter building design prior to the movie, much like the Avengers tower, so personally I welcome canonizing the First Steps version across media. It'd be nice to get comic designed figs, but I'd probably expect those to show up in smaller sets and mechs like everything else. The Spiderman brickverse stuff is kind of an anomoly because they seem to be throwing whatever designs they want into sets just to make them more exclusive.

Just throwing my vote in again but I'd really like to see an Asgard d2c with the Thor characters that have never been made!

Something interesting from the Infinity Saga that has never been done before with a ton of new, long-requested minifigs? Nahhh, can’t have that, we need more Hulkbusters, Hall of Armour reboots, and Endgame final battle sets!! :laugh_hard:

Finally got around to watching "Thunderbolts*". Overall I liked it more than I thought I would, mainly because unlike "Brave New World" it remembers that a) women exist and can and should play an important part,  and b) our leads should be flawed but engaging characters instead of The Dutiful Soldier's Code of Conduct Manual examples. John "My shield is a taco" Walker makes for a more engaging Captain America than Falconcap IMO. That said, I still don't like Yelena; her constant beating on everyone else while whining non-stop about how lonely she is doesn't make for an attractive combination and she doesn't ever seem to wonder if those two traits might be related.

Also could Marvel Studios maybe get some coherence into its shared universe someday soon? In „Brave New World“, Falconcap was a public figure; here we constantly hear that there are no more Avengers available. What about Falconcap, what about other known Avengers such as Captain Marvel (last seen living at least semi-permanently on Earth), Spidey, Professor Hulk, you name them? (Also Ant-Man but yeah, I wouldn't rely on him against extraterrestrial threats.)

In terms of LEGO I can sort of see why they decided to skip that movie. It's just not very "Marvel" overall. The colours are drab and dark. Most characters either don't have superpowers or theirs wouldn't lend themselves to minifigure action, but they do use plenty of real-world weaponry. Having yet another Captain America would probably confuse casual buyers, and Sentry's powers and actions don't exactly lend themselves to a fun, playful experience either.

For some of those reasons I also cannot see the Thunderbolts* play a large role in "Doomsday": They ought to be very, very outmatched (except Sentry) by some of the rest of the cast, and given how many poorly introduced characters we'll likely be dealing with, the last thing casual viewers will need is two Captain Americas, none of which are Steve Rogers. I think the Thunderbolts might work best when removed from the main action. Please don't tell me we'll get Yelena jumping and rolling her way towards Doom in order to zap him with her widow bites!

Well it would be a bit late for that. Asgard doesn't even exist anymore.

In all seriousness, I do think that's the problem - it would be a bit late for it. "Endgame" came out in 2019 and still gets sets but it's "Endgame", and it gets sets in part because the movies that came after it for the most part haven't been all that well-received. Asgard was last featured in "Ragnarok" and (very briefly) "Endgame" and I think we can rule out future appearances. At the same time, Thor used to be very popular up to "Ragnarok" and "Infinity War", then he got turned into a bit of a joke by "Endgame" ("Bro Thor"), then he got a solo movie so unwatchable it makes "Quantumania" look like a masterpiece, and that's where we're at right now. And an Asgard set would have to heavily rely on Thor's popularity in order to sell.

When has that ever stopped them? We got plenty of ships and locations well after they’ve been destroyed in-universe, like the Milano, the Hall of Armour (assuming they’re based on the one inside Tony’s mansion), or the Avengers Tower (which wasn’t destroyed but changed owners ages ago).

That said, you’re right that Thor isn’t exactly at the height of his popularity anymore after L&T, but I think he’s still well-liked enough. It’s not like people are gonna boo when they see him in Doomsday  And he still shows up in his own sets, like the Surtur Battle just last year! Sure, that’s not exactly comparable to a D2C, but there is a chance regardless. Not particularly high, but it’s there!
