DaredevilFan Posted April 8 Posted April 8 The busts haved leaked, I quite like the iron spider one. But think I’ll probably just get the mark 4 separately. Come on F4 set 🤞🏻 Quote

Scarilian Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) As much as I like collecting Dark Red pieces, the Iron Man bust just feels bland though I guess that cannot be helped when the design is mostly just Dark Red, perhaps that's why we got the exclusive figure that everyone who collects Iron Man figures will be after. He looks like he just licked a Lemon, the face narrows too quickly and puckers at the mouth piece. Generally feels like they were unsure how to adapt the head. If it has a lightbrick then perhaps that would justify the pricing, but honestly you'd be better off bricklinking the figure and building the Ransoms Fern version and swapping some pieces to get the appearance of the different suits. The Spider-man bust is adapting a complex design that comes across a bit messy in Lego form but you can tell they tried hard to get the design across and I feel that mostly paid off. Main gripe is that the Spider legs don't seem to touch the main body so the logo imagery comes across a bit awkard and the face suffers from feeling a bit thin. The, hopefully printed, webbing pieces help. I don't feel the figure is much of a draw for this set. They either should have kept the Constraction Figure heads and worked around that scale or scaled up the busts so they could go for more accurate brick-built heads. There was once the logic that Black Panther needed a D2C scale set because he would'nt have been replicated well at this scale... why did nobody look at these and think the same given the compromises? CloneCommando99 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Iron Spider looks good. So does Iron Man… from the neck down. They really butchered the helmet. Quote
NXS7 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Cyborg Spider Man's face print has been fixed. With that in mind, anyone know when the book is meant to release? Quote
Kaijumeister Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) I think these busts are a great idea and certainly more interesting than just more buildable helmets. The Iron-Spider one looks like a solid effort IMO, although it seems backwards and lazy to simplify the extra arms on the minifigure when the one in the Endgame set had executed them perfectly - probably the one thing that set actually did well. The proportions for Iron Man’s helmet are completely off, however the torso build actually looks pretty great. I’m no skilled MOCor so it’s hard to comment on whether the awry proportions for Iron Man’s helmet are simply a result of the scale the designers were working with or not. All that said, they really need to stop pricing these sets as premium product when the budget is clearly so cutthroat for this theme compared to Harry Potter and Star Wars. Here’s hoping for a full breakdown of the summer sets soon. Edited April 8 by Kaijumeister Quote
Felkin Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I guess Lego has learned its lesson after the giant Black Panther bust warmed shelves for so long, and has done them at a better scale. I'd love to see BP and Wolverine busts in future! Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted April 8 Posted April 8 You know what, I actually really like the busts. They look neat, and I enjoy the way they're built. Minifigures are definitely a cool addition. Hope we see more of those in the future. Quote
Swordy Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I really wanted to like the Iron Man bust. Some of the part choices are brilliant, but they also make the proportions out of wack. The mouth is both too tall and also too thin, meanwhile the dark red 2x2 on his forehead is way too wide. Upscaling the helmet might’ve improved the look overall, but then you make the bust even more expensive. Iron Spider looks solid—really solid. Not my absolute favourite suit, and the figure still disappoints, but the shaping and detail is well executed. It’s a shame about the price of both, though. I can see how the $60 price tag was justified, but it does make both fall out of my zone of interest. Quote
hvader Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I think busts are way more appealing than the weird heads/helmets they’ve been doing… but yes that Iron Man looks rough Quote
Mandalorianknight Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) I'm normally pretty rough on the busts but I'll be honest, I like the iron spider one. If it wasn't $60, I'd buy it, and even then while more than I'd pay $60 isn't the worst price in the world- I'd probably pay $50 for one of these if they did an outfit or character I had a particular affinity for. Iron man one just doesn't work, the head's all wrong, but the spider-man one is great, the head turned out really well. I think it looks much better than the full helmet set despite the much smaller size. Would love to see one for Moon Knight. They knock the price down 20% and pump out more on the iron spider quality, I'll start collecting the heroes I care about. Edited April 8 by Mandalorianknight Quote
Lego_ofme Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Just seen a detailed pic of the new iron spider bust and minifig. Is the iron spider minifig head new? The blue of lenses seems slightly different? Quote

Seems like another bad render job for Lego so not sure which is real Quote

So close to a great figure! Edited April 9 by Lego_ofme Quote
GonzoTheGreat Posted April 9 Posted April 9 With these busts releasing in June any idea when the Fantastic Four set will be leaked/revealed? Quote

Probably end of this month/beginning of next. One month before release tends to be the norm, at least for retail sets. Lego store exclusive sets tend to be weeks. Quote
Kaijumeister Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Wild that Iron Spider gets arm printing here but not the Endgame set, that bust is a genuinely great set, I might just get it. With the official images out, it’s nice that the Iron Man bust has those opening air brakes and shoulder missiles too, but the head really does throw everything off. Quote
squiz18 Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Can't see past the forehead on the Iron Man build. That looks terrible, it looks like it has 2 sets of eyes. The spiderman one is good, but wouldn't bother unless it was at least 40% off. Quote

I ever see that bust for 20% or more off I'm snapping it up. I haven't been all that consciously aware of it, but the only sets larger than a battle pack I've bought from this theme since endgame have all been spider-man, which I just noticed. These are not a bad line, especially as far as the 18+ sublines go. I especially like the rotated base and the inclusion of a minifigure. If they just dropped the price down a bit I think these would do very well. (Spider-man, at least. Iron Man looks like he just ate a lemon) Quote
hikouki Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Is that Iron Man minifig included in this new bust an exclusive never been released before suit? Quote
thebricksbear Posted April 9 Posted April 9 1 hour ago, hikouki said: Is that Iron Man minifig included in this new bust an exclusive never been released before suit? Yes- for what it's worth. It's a very minor updated version of the final suit from Iron Man 1. Essentially the same suit but in name. Quote
RobbieHxC Posted April 9 Posted April 9 With the new releases of Daredevil: Born Again and Thunderbolts*, I really hope LEGO at some point takes advantage of the Daredevil mythos with characters like Kingpin, Bullseye, and Elektra! Quote
Legocentrico Posted April 9 Posted April 9 (edited) Leaked photos of debris from Doomsday set. Lego Marvel has set for another 10 years lol Edited April 9 by Legocentrico Quote

And to think we could’ve had a Mark 6 bust instead—but no, we needed an excuse to make a near-useless Iron Man print. 3 hours ago, squiz18 said: Can't see past the forehead on the Iron Man build. However, the lifestyle pictures make the helmet look not as terrible. I’m interested in seeing in-hand reviews before I make my personal judgement final. 4 hours ago, Mandalorianknight said: These are not a bad line, especially as far as the 18+ sublines go. A bust feels less awkward than having the severed head of Spider-Man or Venom on display, not to mention it gives us more range for displaying certain versions of characters. A generic Spider-Man mask can work for most comic or MCU appearances, but now we can specify whether it’s the NWH or the Homecoming suit. Same is true with Batman—unironically I can wait for the inevitable Dark Knight suit. The price tag is still hard to swallow no matter which way you shake it. Ironically, I’m sure the designers will point to the inclusion of a minifigure as the reason for each being so overpriced. It’s partially true, but for myself I’d like to see better. 24 minutes ago, Legocentrico said: Leaked photos of debris from Doomsday set.
