I really don’t like that DADA will not be its own standalone set because it’s one of the most iconic classrooms and deserves to have the fleshed out treatment Herbology and Potions have gotten with this line. There’s all types of details they could have included in such a set. Seeing it go the way of Transfiguration would break my heart.

The nice thing about DADA is that with the constantly changing Professors you could technically do half a dozen different versions of the classroom without actually repeating yourself (case in point, this is the third version since the reboot and they’ve all been radically different). And personally I’ve still got my fingers crossed for a proper Transfiguration classroom down the road.

That said, the inclusion of the dementor makes me think that the scene represented is actually the Patronus lesson Lupin gives Harry, meaning that the module actually represents Lupin’s office. (I could be wrong, but with us getting Penelope and the Grey Lady instead of Neville and Boggart Snape, it seems more likely.) It would be a very easy mistake for someone to make.

Any idea when we might start seeing set images leak? I can’t remember when we got the first images last year. Should be soon-ish, right?

Lego typically loads new (non-D2C) sets to the ‘coming soon’ section of their website roughly a month ahead of time (so late November or early December for the January sets), and officially speaking third party retailers should follow the same timeline.

In practice, the recent Stranger Things leak is an excellent demonstration of the fact that some third party retailers already have the set images and there are numerous ways they could be leaked to the public through them (in that case, someone accidentally uploaded the images to the listing for a completely different set).

The “DADA classroom” actually being Lupin’s office would make sense, and even if it’s the classroom after all, that doesn’t mean we couldn’t get another set further down the line. The DADA classroom looks vastly different every time it appears, after all

What bothers me is that it is a 100$ Set with 3 rooms. With the flying lesson being 80$ for 3 small rooms it is safe to say all 3 rooms will be small. Neither a common room nor the defence against the dark arts classroom should be a small room. If it is lupins office in this set, the question is, where the classroom will be placed in the final model

While only $20 more, it is 250 pieces (40%) more than the Flying Lesson. I would think that is enough pieces to get three large rooms worth of exterior bricks. Especially since if you consolidate the side portion of the Flying Lesson set into the main Tower of it, you could make it big enough to have 2 large modules. So all you need is enough pieces to add a third large on top.

So will hospital wing set also represent Clock tower or will it be a movie accurate set enclosing the Quad and we will get Clock tower that attaches to the hospital wing later on?

I think by now we would have had rumors saying it includes the Clock tower if it did. So I'm to believe that it is just a portion of the Quad and there could still be a later Clock Tower (though not counting on it).

I doubt we will see the quad... at best we will get the viaduct bridge with 2 Towers and an entrance as the last large expansion and then a smaller set connecting to that so the front looks like there was the quad.

Neville is so popular and Boggart Snape in his great aunt's clothes is such a favourite, I could absolutely see them releasing a more fleshed out DADA lesson like they did with the Potions class. That's two minifigs, then maybe Padma in an extra Ravenclaw uniform and the Jack-in-the-Box, and Lupin is the only repeat, giving us a chance at a different suit. Four, maybe four and a half, minifigs there. Or Ron and another spider, because they've been keen on them for CoS I assume, but then it's all Gryffindors and no girls, so Padma would be better.

@Gorilla94 placement hasn't really mattered yet, they just stick them somewhere and call it a plan. *shrug*

Padma is (annoyingly) depicted as a Gryffindor in the movies, and it’s Parvati who has the giant cobra/jack-in-the-box boggart in the movie – Lupin even addresses her by name (and let’s not address how questionable it is to make her biggest fear a cobra when it’s canonically a mummy in the books).

As an aside, whoever’s supervising character choices in the theme seems conscious of how much Padma’s house swap irks some of us, because her two minifig appearances so far (the 2020 advent calendar and Diagon Alley: Madam Malkin’s and Ollivander’s) have both had her out of uniform.

@Accio Lego   Yes, I thought Padma out of uniform was sneaky (or clever) of lego. :pir_laugh2: The movies also had classes with older or younger students mistakenly in them. I'm assuming the television series will correct these things, no guarantees obviously. But I can't imagine lego would release a DADA classroom set this summer either way, and that gives the television series a chance to influence a classroom set, plus at least one of the video games got the mummy right. Or perhaps they'll wimp out and use Parvati-the-otherwise-identical-Gryffindor, but I'd rather another Ravenclaw uniform.

Beyond the timing, iirc, we've only had one GoF castle set (Owlery), nothing from the tournaments, none from OotP or HBP, and the only DH castle set is the GWP RoR, which was too fleeting, and we haven't done the Chamber of Secrets yet, which seems like a lock. Even the non-castle sets (aside from Malfoy Manor and the Durmstrang Ship / Beauxbatons carriage) - Knight Bus, Privet Drive, Hagrid's Hut, Ford, Aragog, Forbidden Forest, the polybags, even the Book Nook - have been PoA or earlier. It really feels like the current series must continue past 2026 to begin to cover the missing material at all, never mind satisfactorily.

Or maybe that's wishful thinking.

I am not that sure about that. Fluffy is next to the stairs. The gryffindor common room is next to the stairs. Dumbledore is on top of the tower. I don't think they would put the classroom in another building than the office.

The ‘same building’ designation is moot with the modular format, especially if they do a standalone classroom module like Potions or Charms for DADA. And let’s not forget that the last time Lego did the Chamber of Secrets they made Myrtle’s bathroom an entire separate set despite the Chamber set devoting an entire room to the slide down that didn’t work properly if you didn’t have the bathroom and its trapdoor installed directly above. In other words, if something exciting enough happens somewhere, then that location might get its own set, even if it’s connected to somewhere else.

I'm a little late to the newest set description and also, like most of you, underwhelmed. I did say that at EUR 100 we probably wouldn't get much of an addition to the Most Expensive Hogwarts Ever, but this?

The Hospital Wing giving the set its name yet only making up a third of it. And the last one was already quite cramped and really needed an office for Pomfrey or storage facilities, so this sounds like a distinct downgrade.

No Pomfrey but another random student to keep baiting the collectors instead. Sure, the last version would be hard to top, but that's not what "most complete" means.

The lamest possible iteration of the DADA classroom: no Snape boggart, no Lockhart and no pixies, no Moody - and while we might get some of those eventually, I think we can pretty much rule out the Snape boggart for this system since they're not likely to release another Lupin's Class for it.

The Ravenclaw Common Room on top is so much lamer than the genuinely cool clocktower build from the last system. And if it's a slide-out it will probably look a lot more like the Hufflepuff Common Room than like the Gryffindor Common Room, i.e. crappy. Also now I'm wondering if we'll ever get a proper Astronomy Tower (where the Ravenclaw Common Room should be).

If this is true it sounds very disappointing.

What makes me wonder: what is the exterior supposed to be?

I am by no means a Hogwarts castle expert, but i opened hogwarts legacy and checked the map. There the hospital wing is part of the clocktower behind the great hall and main tower. I think we can tell for sure lego won't expand the castle to the completely open backside.

The Ravenclaw common room is shown exactly where the Gryffindor one is in the main tower set.

Dada is in the quad...

I guess it has to be part of hogwarts iconic Front view... maybe the quads front, so the lat big expnsion with viaduct and 2 little towers completes it except for an astronomy tower they could Release in another 100€ set?

I don´t actually believe we won´t be getting Pomfrey at all - she should definitely be included in that set, and not doing so is a strange choice anyways. But still I would think she will be included in another module, if she isn´t in this one. Chamber of Secrets would make most Sense after the Hospital Wing I guess.

This is actually the last thing I would complain about. I don´t think anyone here expected the Hospital Wing to include more than one floor for the Hospital Wing itself. I don´t even remember that Pomfreys Office was even in the Films, but then it has been a while and it is surely nothing I - or most customers would remember anyways. That beeing said I have no idea why they would include that one or a storey room - the main room with the Beds is the important part of it.

Descriptions of more of the sets have surfaced! The Sorting Hat set comes with the cat patronus and it’s a remake of the 2001 set, complete with spinning wheel!

Ok, that's cute xD

So it sounds like the Ford Anglia is similar to Hagrid’s Motorbike as it mentions brick built characters. The Sorting hat set sounds fun and comes with type a house point counters - have we ever had those before?

In the Hospital Wing it sounds like only the DADA classroom is a slidable module. That should make some people happy

Definitly it does... and certainly it does not make me happy :( my moced hufflepuff common room became awesome including several background pieces from the house banner background and tons of details. I was fine with the common room being trash meant to be completely replaced by a moc. If it is not deep enough for sliding modules it will be even more work...

The PS-Collectors Set sounds a lot more interesting with the new info again - though at this price point, not sure how big the challanges will be for instance, but I guess we will see pictures in about a month.

Sorting Head Ceremony sounds like a great value for that price.

These January sets sound great and I’ve been wanting a set of Hagrid’s bike from DH for so long. Confounded at the lack of a Madam Pomfrey in the Hospital Wing though.

The patronuses as 25th anniversary collectibles are a neat idea too. I like it when anniversary celebrations are more specific for a theme rather than just reliant on golden minifigures.

As much as non-playscale sets aren’t my cup of tea (and I genuinely think Lego are making far too much of these at the expense of good system sets across licensed themes), that Philosopher’s Stone set sounds pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing pictures.
