Wow, that is... something.
Not liking the saucer section as seen from above. It's way too oval I believe yet emphasizes exactly what I didn't like about the Enterprise-D in general.

The oval looks pretty close to the TV Enterprise-D. It is properly ‘oval’!

The reaction on Reddit is very negative, and I don't quite understand how vitriolic it is. It doesn't look like there is any interior, which is disappointing, and I'm not sure about those tan elements but generally it seems like a good job from what I can see. Maybe higher res versions will change my mind.

It's Reddit, which is extremely digital - all positive or all negative - viewing low resolution images. It is always the case that better resolution images and a full reveal bring greater clarity.

There is also always going to be an issue with something the shape of the Enterprise D being made from model building blocks. BlueBrixx models suffered the same thing. And it feels like some people expect studio quality models. Let's hope the official images come soon.

I really wish this was accompanied by a TNG CMF.
Locutus, Tasha, Lwxana, Pulaski, Barclay, O’Brien, K’ehleyr, Q, Lore, Gowron, Tomalak & Ro Laren … that would do nicely.

Won't Ro Laren be included in the GWP? :classic:

Hmm... I dunno. I have to disagree. I looked up pictures on Memory Alpha and it just looks like a big circle to me.
I guess if I position the LEGO set just right, it won't be too noticable.

The Enterprise D is definitely an oval. I think the shaping is accurate. As accurate as it can be at this scale using standard pieces in LEGO anyway.

The Enterprise D saucer section is 100% an oval. The set captures the shape of the Galaxy-class nearly perfectly.

I think the design of the set looks fantastic. I wouldn't have minded some more window decal sheets, but I can already hear the potential moaning if LEGO had decided to add some large sticker sheets. This looks to be a great, large-scale model without being un-displayable. An aftermarket lighting kit will be a must-have for sure.

Ever since I was a kid, I've wanted a Star Trek LEGO set. (I spent way too much time building digital MOCs in LDD for uploading to the LEGO Universe Creation Lab...)

No way I'm missing this release - a day one purchase.

Same. I spent way too much money on the Bluebrixx Star Trek sets, which are great, but Lego parts quality is still much better and Lego minifigs are much better than Bluebrixx minifigs (which were never available for purchase anyway). Fingers crossed the shuttle GWP is as good as the Type 6 Shuttle MOC by Lilium Brick Yards. I would 100% buy every single Star Trek subject/scale I've bought from Bluebrixx again from Lego, because the parts quality and building experience is so much better. Granted, the Bluebrixx sets have more and better prints than is typical from Lego today, but for me good parts are more important than good prints for a good experience overall.

I have really been waiting for this as my one big set this year, and if what I saw is legit. I am on the fence! The above view captures the shape perfectly, however underneath! *oh2* I would have to put this on a shelf so low and try to forget what is under there.

Not surprising with the shape, but for that price I expected more.

It looks better then expected but it's not a set for me . I prefer playscale/ minifig scale.

I'm hoping that if this set sells well we might get the Ent-D bridge as its own minifig scale set later, but that might impact ongoing sales of the Enterprise if the exclusive minifigs became available in a cheaper set, so who knows. Maybe it'll happen if they did a set with some uniform variants instead, such as Picard's later-seasons jacket & Troi in an actual Starfleet uniform, to keep the BrickLink scalpers happy (grrr).

I'd quite like to see a Star Trek CMF at some point, if only as a means of introducing lots of aliens. Give us a "baddies of Star Trek" series of iconic villains and/or army builders; Klingons, Romulans, Borg, Jem'Hadar, Ferengi, Cardassians, Gorn... they could make something both to make Trekkies happy AND have lots of interesting "monster" designs for general Lego fans.

Not to mention Lursa and B'Etor!
... and also Morn.

Then you might have the issue of which design of the alien to use: old or new Gorn; first Klingons, TNG style or the newest ones, etc.

I think they are plabning on doing ahips in the scale and give us minifigures for each set. This woyld be the best solution for getting the main cast fir each series.

I look forward to them doing TOS Enterprise and somehow modify it into the SNW version. There are only two nice large scale versions of it.

I know that is too early to discuss. I think what Trekyards did was great.

As for TNG enterprise. The saucer is difficult to reproduce and frankly i was hoping they would have ibtroduces a new series of curved wedges. They need to introduce the wedges with a 6 stud slope. This would ve an easier trabsition for doing the saucer and offer new landscape pieces. I loved seeing them as sand in The Barracuda set and would like to see a longer slope because it would actually help do ships with the saucer designs.

I would also like to see them offer more wedge designs in tile form. The recent curved slopes and wedges they introduced in speed champions are going to help craft hulls easier.

Agreed. A new larger curved slope would have been good for a variety of reasons. Still looking forward to the full reveal and decent quality photos.

Very disappointed in no rank pips. I know it means all officers can be accurate across TNG (well, S3 onwards) but still.

I like the look of the set although it's not quite what I imagined I will probably still buy it and make a bridge MOC. I wasn't expecting a full interior but I thought there might be space for a small bridge.

Not sure what to think of Geordi's torso, and presumably the others as well.
The colored patch seems a bit too small? I think the bottom edge could have been a bit closer to the waist.
Edit: Okay, I looked it up (maybe I should've done that before  ) and I guess it's pretty accurate, actually.

Other than that, Lt. LaForge looks terrific! Might change the hair a bit, though, it's usually not as high/big is it?

I was just musing over the included crew and it's probably fair. But I wonder why Ro Laren as the GWP figure as opposed to Tasha Yar, Chief O'Brien, or Dr Pulaski, all of whom felt like they had larger overall roles. Maybe that's just me. Ooh, even more fun would have been Lwazana Troi or Q. But maybe they decided on the shuttle craft and Ro Laren was the best option for piloting it.

I think that's it, too. But now that you mention it, generally speaking the first three characters you mention are much more important in the series.

Yar and Pulaski would need the earlier uniform and I imagine they wanted consistency. O'Brien would have been a good addition (considering no rank pips probably easy to make) but perhaps if they do well they'll do other ST sets and include him in a DS9 set? Although that's probably me being hopeful since it's less iconic.

Good point.

I wonder if DS9 would be considered too niche? I rarely see DS9 merchandise compared to anything related to an Enterprise. Would make a great midiscale model (as long as it came with the full cast).

So i have only see one pic and leak for the enterprise, along with the more recent close up of Geordi.  Is there any chance the pics out there are not real? And a better version of the Enterprise-D will make an appearance for black friday?

I don’t know if I’m an outlier here - but I think Ro Laren is a real fan favourite, and would probably beat all the others you suggested in any poll. Not that I’m happy with Tasha erasure, of course. She could have come with an amorphous black blob build …

Ouch! Too soon!

You may be right about the popularity of Ro. To me she just doesn't feel as iconic as the others, but I'm still happy to get her.
