[RUMOUR] LEGO Icons Black Pearl coming in 2025 - UPDATE: Part Count and Minfiguress

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean's return is fantastic news, but I can't believe how poor the minifigure list is (for now?). 7 minifigures only? I mean, it's obvious PotC minifigures are loved. And we've been waiting for them for a loooong time.

Plus, this new Pearl is clearly based on the first movie, so it beggars belief that Lego chose not to include Captain Barbossa, who captains the ship throughout the entire film (and was already disregarded for PotC5's single set, although spending more time on the Silent Mary than the three heroes), as well as Pintel and Ragetti.

The rest of the cursed crew would have been great too imho, and most of them appear in the game (Bo'sun, Koehler, Twigg, Jacoby, Mallot, Grapple, Scratch, mainly). And a Black Pearl from the first movie was the best opportunity to get them.

It's great to finally have Cotton and Marty, and Anamaria (who only appears for 30 seconds on the Pearl) comes as a real a surprise, but there were much more important and legitimate characters to include first, as has already been said. How can Anamaria be included and not Barbossa?

At least with Barbossa there's still a chance they could make him for a smaller set like the upcoming Book Nook theme or, heavens forbid, a GWP set for the Pearl. If they don't make him you can still use the original Barbossa from the Isla de Muerta set, which is what I'll probably do. However Pintel & Raggeti not being in the Pearl means they will likely never get made. Unless they make an Assault on Port Royal set, I just don't see where else they could add them. I've not seen others mention it but since this set is likely based off the first film, Elizabeth probably won't be in a pirate outfit, which is also disappointing.

But what really matters is the ship itself, given the piece count I'm definitely expecting something closer to MocYourBricks' version, probably with tattered sails and a more detailed Captain's quarters! I'm very curious about color scheme they'll go with, black and grey or black and dark tan? Either way I'm sure the set will sell well enough and the Dutchman will come next, hopefully with a better minifigure selection. Here's an idea for minifigures, Davy Jones, Bootstrap, Maccus, Hadras, Will, and a rowboat with Pintel and Ragetti, technically it could work! :steve:

I hope you're right and that Barbossa will appear in an upcoming set sooner rather than later. He already has this fantastic Fortnite design which would be perfect for the revival of the theme. It would be a shame not to get him.

We could still get Pintel and Ragetti in a remake of Isla de Muerta, should the set be based on Barbossa's speech, along with other crew members (but that's pure wishful thinking, I'll give you that). Or in a remake of Isla Cruces which could also include Elizabeth. But I think she'll appear in future sets, anyhow. And since her outfit is the one she has in the 2nd film, she would be perfect for a wave (fingers crossed) based on the second movie, with the Flying Dutchman as the flag set.

That would indeed be perfect to get some new members of the crew of the Dutchman. I personally already have Maccus and Hadras and they look really great, so I'd love to see some other fish-people, like Clanker, Koleniko, Palifico, Penrod, Wyvern, Crash, Jimmy Legs, who all appear in the game as well (but once again, wishful thinking, I'm afraid!).

I must say I'm not worried about what the Pearl will look like. As you said, the piece count is reassuring, it can only be better than the old Pearl, which was too tiny. I just hope that the whole stern (captain's quarters included) will look impeccable, with the 9 nine windows and the captain's table between the helm and the guardrail (if that's not asking too much ^^).

Really exited for this set and I am happy with the piece count.   I'm more than happy with the minifigure selection, for me getting Cotton and Marty were the two biggest wants and I was unsure if they would include them but they are part of the crew though the first trilogy and Marty is in fact part of the crew in the 5th movie as well, if any chapters were going to get left out I thought it would be those two.

I know we aren't getting Barbossa but what do you guys think to us getting Jack the Monkey,  he was the other want from the set for me?  I suppose there is other sets he could come in as he's in a lot of parts in the movie but right now we are just getting the one set and possibly only one each year so this set is the only one that makes sense to include him in.

We also need the lower deck of the black pearl and potentially a third deck as well.

I'd say the minifigure selection isn't bad per se. In fact, it's great - but not for this set. Would've been better for an HMS Interceptor. The cursed crew is really a missed opportunity, even though I understand that Jack & Co are more appealing to the greatest number.

Jack the monkey being Barbossa's sidekick, I don't think we will get him, at least not before Barbossa finally appears in a set (it's been 14 years since Barbossa's last appearance in a set even though he had a major role in PotC5, so it would be time).

I'm also wondering how many sails the Pearl will get in this set, because it really contributes to the ship's silhouette.

I know the set is rumored to include only seven minifigures, I just want to say that if LEGO bases this Pearl off of the scene in the first film when Elizabeth Swann and Jack walk the plank to be marooned on an island, the ship could include Barbossa, Pintel, Ragetti, Jack, Elizabeth, Will Turner, Ana Maria, Marty, Cotton, and Mr. Gibbs. I say all that to say that it wouldn’t be out of pocket or against canon to have a mix of the skeleton crew with Jack’s crew because, due to the Pearl seizing Jack’s ship, they were once on the same Pearl.

The only reason I object to the minifig list is because the BP is the only set, as far as we know. Sure, they could pull a LOTR and release yearly Icons sets, but even then it‘s unlikely we‘ll get Barbossa, Pintel, and Ragetti since they‘d likely focus on the ships. An isla de muerta Icons set would be great, but I doubt that‘ll ever happen :sceptic:

I really hope that the ship will have shooting cannons and cloth sails.

I would give it a very high chance that there will be cloth sails, and, if there are minifigs, most likely shooting cannons.

All the previous PotC ships had cloth sails, and recent large-scale models like the Endurance did as well. What’s the alternative, plastic sails, or worse, brick-built ones? I don’t think we have to worry about that in the slightest.

And you can’t have a pirate ship without cannons! The pieces are still around, as evidenced by 10320, so they have no good excuse not to use them. Just don’t expect more than a small handful of them!

Hey, does anyone know around when the set is supposed to release?

I believe the leaks were pointing at this year's September.

Does anyone think we’ll get all three decks? The third deck I am referring to is the storage area where Jack met Bootstrap.  Whilst we are on this topic do you think we’ll get hammocks as well?

If they use the prefab hulls then no. Even when I raised my gun deck for the ships im building using those, i have roughly 2 brick height. All of the lego sets using pre fab hulls always made them rest at gun deck height because the pre fab hulls are built to be water level. If they didnt make the center using the hull parts then they could hint at the idea of a lower deck. The only way to really get a 3rd deck is if the enture bottom hull is built and that would likely be a few hundred more pieces.

The prefab hulls should have been redesigned years ago so they split down the center. This would allow varied ship widths. There is a 3rd party company that did it on 1 pirate ship and i bought 3 when it came out hoping it had matching brown hulls. It did not. They are also scratched to hell because of poor quality control. The hulls were built with split parts and based on the smaller lego ship hull widths so it would make the wider ship hulls have enough space at the center to have a staircase down another level. This would be cheaper foe LEGO if they redesigned them this way years ago because they could have built smaller ships and larger ships with the same parts. Or at least offer the center hull parts that split and have 2 width front sections.

I would love to see them have new hull parts that split at the center and probably loved by ship builders.

Seeing as this is Icons, I don't think they will use any prefab hull parts, instead opting for a fully built up hull with slopes and curves like the Endurance. This will allow a significantly more accurate hull shape and IMO a better building experience. That being said, the bottom deck will probably just be structure but a skilled enough modder may still be able to fit at least a portion of deck down there

I would put it as unlikely for both. As pointed out above, most Lego ship models start at the sea line, so a below decks doesn't exist. This is also judging based on the rumored parts count that others have pointed out as similar to some MOCs.

As for the hammocks,  I would guess slightly more likely, but I really have no idea how Lego would go about it.

When did lego become so anti using molds? I'm not going to lie but I miss the molded bases we got on the old sets and ship hulls. I hope it's done in style similar to the Black seas barracuda proportions in terms of a single deck. It's LEGO, they can convert and make room for anything and everything.

I too am hoping for molded hull parts. I just love the Lego Hull pieces, and I can't get enough of them. Yes, they are sometimes annoying to MOC around,  But I still love em.

Wait so you are saying it’s unlikely we’ll get a deck underneath the top deck at all? I hope that’s not the case?  @cehnot

What we are likely going to get if it is minifig scale would be the gun deck and quarterdeck. No galley. If its a model like the Endurance and not play scale then they may include something, but most likely they would just do the bow and stern without it containing anything. I really hope its not a model and actually play scale.

Yeah a display model like the Endurance would be a dissapointment :pir-hmpf:

I would still buy it, but I wouldn't  enjoy it as much as a playscale ship.

I really hope it is minifig scale. An Endurance scale ship would be so boring. All AFOLs I know prefer minifig scale and I guess kids also prefer minifig scale. Who actually wants endurance scale ships? Non AFOL adults that like the movies and still willing to buy a Lego set? I believe that's a very small group of people.

I bought Titanic because it really does look great, and the build is amazing. But the Endurance didn't really interest me as I really prefer ships to be minifigure scale so that my children can enjoy playing with them. A pirate ship that's not minifigure scale? No thanks.

But the fact that this is getting a minifigure crew suggests that it should be minifigure scale. All other recent Icons sets that were smaller than minifigure scale didn't include figures. The French Cafe, Fountain Garden, Tranquil Garden, and in Ideas, the River Steamboat has no figures.

Also, related to Endurance and looking at other themes, on the themes pages - Themes | Official LEGO® Shop US - they have pictures of a set with each category. The Endurance is the image used for Ideas. Ha!

They can, and do, change their rules at any time, but I'd be so surprised if the Pearl wasn't a minifig-based set.
