Lego Nostalgia Posted July 21 Posted July 21 10 hours ago, Mandalorianknight said: Arguably we had more set-friendly DC content this year with the superman movie, which while I personally don't like what I've seen of, definitely had plenty of set potential. Yeah from what I've been seeing they need 600-700 mil at the box office to turn a profit, which doesn't seem like a guarantee, especially given whatever's going on with the non-US box office. I've lost all hope for slopsday being good and at this point, this is what I'm hoping for in the movie: 1. It's morbius level content, just absolutely painstakingly terrible (you know what? let's actually give the morbster a cameo), and everyone except the thunderbolts is just awful. 2. The "invincible avengers" team that's supposedly being put together is A: put together entirely offscreen to culminate the lack of setup for sam's samvengers, and B: evolves from just generally uninteresting to so outrageously unlikeable that people actively root for Doom. 3 (and this is the most important). Yelena and Ava apologize for bullying John into switching out his hat for that stupid beret and he puts his old helmet back on. (This isn't a meme, I legitimately hate the beret and now even if we get the thunderbolts in doomsday sets, John won't be accurate to Thunderbolts, which is the best non-nostalgia marvel movie since infinity war.) Marvel has gone down hill so much that I'm happy with just seeing Tobey Maguire, Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds and Robert Downey Jr interact, that's all I need Quote
DaredevilFan Posted July 21 Posted July 21 We have a Riddler and Catwoman leak. Both I think look amazing, might be my fav Riddler. Even without the mask I still really like Catwoman. Might just be me but they seem more like a pic from an official image - maybe a comic con reveal is gonna happen Quote
calebcold3 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 LEGO Minecraft Goat on his story says he feels like we're going to be getting a Daily Planet set next year. I feel like if it happens, it will be like Oscorp instead of a modular. Quote

Only thing holding either of these figure back, from what I can tell. Comic Con reveal would make a lot of sense. 44 minutes ago, calebcold3 said: LEGO Minecraft Goat on his story says he feels like we're going to be getting a Daily Planet set next year. If we do get the Daily Planet, regardless of whether it’s D2C or Oscorp styled, I expect Lex and Superman will be recycled and Supergirl will be included. Jimmy, Lois, and Clark are also probably safe bets as purist figures. Some new villains like Bizarro or returning villains like Zod, Brainaic, or Lobo would also be great. But I consider just getting a Daily Planet set a W. Edited July 21 by psqidexslizer Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Riddler and Catwoman look amazing. I feel like I will actually buy Arkham... I very rarely buy 100€+ sets, I only have a few, but I think I won't be able to refrain myself from buying this one. And if we actually get a Daily Planet D2C next year... lord help me. Quote
BatDeanj Posted July 21 Posted July 21 When is Comic Con? says it's October from a google search? Quote

The price of the old Catwoman cowl is not going to be great, but I don’t mind the printed cowl with the Black Panther ears. I think it works. I really hope that Daily Planet speculation is true. I feel as if it would be a no-brainer for an upcoming DC D2C, especially with all of the Super-characters in the forefront of DC. As much as I enjoyed the new movie, I do hope it is comic-based, as that also gives us more opportunities for new characters. As long as they take advantage of that opportunity *cough* Arkham *cough*! 2 minutes ago, BatDeanj said: When is Comic Con? says it's October from a google search? From what I can tell, San Diego Comic Con will actually be this weekend (July 24th-27th)! A reveal there would not only be nice, but it could make sense given that the Riddler and Catwoman leaks look like they’re taken out of a box image and not in-hand minifigures. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted July 21 Posted July 21 The set leaked! Love it Finally a green-skinned Poison Ivy! Quote
BatDeanj Posted July 21 Posted July 21 (edited) wheres the set leak wheres ivy? edit found it - bricktap Edited July 21 by BatDeanj Quote
icm Posted July 21 Posted July 21 It does look pretty good. Nice solid character selection, a decent Modular-compatible building, and a nice vehicle side build. I hope I can Bricklink the panel van (it's a really neat white panel van), but I haven't found the time yet to Bricklink hardly any of the other interesting side-build vehicles from large sets (e.g. the truck from the Cullen house), so it'll be better if I can get it separately on eBay or at B&M. Renny The Spaceman Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Everyone's ignoring the most important thing, the classic penguin build is back. The greatest design in LEGO history Quote
DaredevilFan Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Looks really good, excited to see interior. Ivy and Riddler are definitely the best figs. I love Bane and Crocs face print, hopefully we see full figs released later in another set. Scarecrow looks weird without a hat. It’s nice to see the return of things like Joker’s Bang gun and the penguin builds Quote
spiderfan2000 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 I'm curious to find out how many of these new minifigure prints will remain exclusive to Arkham Quote
Nokturn Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Ugh, I'm actually annoyed at how much I love Arkham. I was thinking I could skip it. The minifigs aren't phenomenal but the building itself makes this a must-have for me. There goes my budget for the rest of the year! Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Man, it actually looks amazing. Who would've thought we'd get such an incredible DC sets after all those failures. The minifigures are awesome. I absolutely did not expect them to go all out on Poison Ivy—she is marvellous! The faceprints for the inmates are all well done. The build itself is fantastic. It looks like a complete display piece, and the inverted corner idea was very well executed. The truck is a nice addition. Overall, I'm very happy with this set. So much, I might have to get it one day. Quote
DaredevilFan Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Ah, so Arkham has a visit Metropolis poster. More fuel to getting the daily planet, as well as the build being modular and having connection ports. Perhaps I judged no January sets too harshly 😂 Quote
Rwbricks Posted July 21 Posted July 21 The minifigures looks great. Green Ivy is fantastic, and the new heads for those with jumpsuits are amazing. Hopefully we’ll get their full costumes later in 2026. I count 21 new prints, assuming both guards reuse heads and not counting the gargoyle, as I can’t see it clearly enough, though it looks like it might have a new head print. I love the van. The build reminds me of classic LEGO/the 2000s Batman sets, which is great. As for the main build itself, I like it! Honestly, I was a bit worried about the inverted corner aspect of it, but I think they pulled it off nicely, same with the gate. The architecture and details are nice, too, though I really think there should’ve been another story. It seems short, which is disappointing for $300. That also ties into the interior, for which I’m hoping there’s enough space, though it doesn’t seem like there will be. Six minifigures are in jumpsuits, so that would (hopefully) mean at least six cells, but that leaves not a lot of room for other areas. However, given the lack of Arkham employees (Strange, Cash, and Quinzel, kind-of), they may not have those other areas. I guess we’ll just have to see. Bring on the back of the box picture! I would say that DC is back, but we all know it’s not (yet), sadly. Quote
Robert8 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 L O V E it I wish it was taller but its just a nitpick The capes are great Poison Ivy is the best one of the villains. Although I like her better with human skin Quote
psqidexslizer Posted July 21 Posted July 21 (edited) LEGO DC IS BACK!!! Set looks great. Green skinned Ivy, at long last, and she looks great. Building itself looks good. I think another floor would have made it feel a bit more imposing, but otherwise great. Connection points are… not what I expected. There only appears to be one. Unless there’s one on the backside and it’s not meant as an inverted corner. But then theres no sidewalk in front or around it. It’ll be interesting to see how this connects to other sets. Since we got a leak this early, I’m betting a SDCC reveal is very likely. Bane and Killer Croc are also standouts with that oversized barbell and backpack for Bane and the 2008 esque face on Croc. Scarecrow really needed a hat or hood. Edited July 21 by psqidexslizer Quote

I just noticed that about the connection points, too! It’s definitely odd. I also see some round nougat tiles at the broken fence that immediately remind me of TLBM Clayface. Hopefully that’s a hint. calebcold3 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 First of all regarding the Poison Ivy Figure, please tell me I'm not the only one that sees the resemblance: Anyways, I'm totally getting Arkham. That set and the Raimi Spidey 2 set are going to Drain me for the rest of the year Quote
Robert8 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Maybe its just me but Mr Freeze's torso looks kind of femenine? Almost looks like he has the waist printed e.e Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted July 21 Posted July 21 I kind of have mixed feelings about the Arkham set. I was hoping it would be a bit taller. The building looks kind of compact in order to fit the baseplate whereas the older sets, while they might have been facades, didn't feel cramped. It doesn't really seem to have the architectural features of the older sets that I liked either. The whole thing feels kind of clean without very many striking gothic elements and mostly just using simple slopes for the roof, whereas each of the previous three Arkham sets did something more unique. But it still looks pretty good. I like how the corner gives it a bit of an enclosed courtyard. I look forward to seeing a fuller reveal with the interior. Based on all of the bars I'm expecting that it's going to be very focused on prison cells, and while I'd like a more varied interior like the TLBM version had, this could be a great opportunity to get lots of fun references to the different villains. We already see a bit of that, with the old penguin bots returning the tile Catwoman is holding which looks to be a picture of her cats. I've been tweaking the 2013 Asylum (10937) for 12 years now, and I actually removed the prison cells from that with the intention of building a separate building someday, but maybe this will fit the bill. The 2013 set probably is the most different from this one visually (not counting the 4+ one) but, hey, modding is the fun of Lego. The minifigures generally look pretty good. Ivy is the easy standout. Her minifigures have always been fine, except the TLBM version which was a standout for that theme, but this is the sort of version I think a lot of us have been wanting forever. I like Robin and Riddler too. I'm not thrilled about the jumpsuits, but I have been collecting long enough that I have most of the old versions of all these characters anyway. Croc's head should look good on AoU polybag Hulk's torso or maybe FFH LIzard's. I do wish Batwoman had something to distinguish her a bit more from the last version than the cape. Boots would have been nice. Even if she is pretty good, it's hard not to see Catwoman as inferior to the version from the Batcave a few years ago. The BP ears just don't cut it. I'd rather have Scarecrow, Bane, or Croc in a full costume than the Batwoman/Catwoman here. Or Two-Face. Ah well. I'll take what we can get--I'm genuinely very glad that Batwoman and Catwoman are here over the 4+ Batgirl, and that there are 16 minifigures with the statue. Even with the two guards and so many jumpsuits, that's still very good for modern day Lego, especially DC. But I totally get why someone who hasn't been able to collect since 2012 would be disappointed with only being able to get these characters in jumpsuits, or inferior versions of Mr. Freeze and Catwoman, or Batwing with an inaccurate head. I hope there is truth to the Daily Planet rumor. I've been waiting for a DP set since 2012. I know LMCG is pretty reliable, but I do wonder if that's just a false flag or a bit of speculation based on buzz for the Superman movie.... Quote
