Sorry, which setthat magical dome will show up in?

It has the same 34816 Brick, Modified 1 x 2 with Bar Handle on End - Bar Flush with Edge and 60475 Brick, Modified 1 x 1 with Open O Clip (Vertical Grip) - Hollow Stud arrangement the other new sets from the winter 2024 wave have (as opposed to the technik pins from the 2021+ modular system), so I'd say yes, not that it matters. It's an easy and cheap thing to swap out and isn't attached to the castle at any rate. Hagrid's hut uses the clips to attach Draco's tree stump and the very miniature pumpkin patch to the main build.

I’m sorry but does that mean it is having a new modular system after all? I mean I never own any Hagrid’s hut since Harry Poter theme was launched in 2018. I only owned one from early 2000s.

Technically, we could see official pictures any day now :excited: I’m still expecting a reveal later than sooner, just to keep my expectations in check  We went from the earliest to the second-latest reveal in 2022 and 23 respectively, so let’s see where 24 lands in that range!

Starting from march 2024 LEGO has launched a new Hogwarts modular system; this is the third one from 2018: from 2018 to 2021 the first one, from 2021 to 2023 the second one. This third modular system is marketed by LEGO as "the most detailed LEGO brick-built Hogwarts Castle scene ever": the Owlery set and the Castle Boathouse set are part of this scene, as well as the summer 200$ Great Hall. Hagrid's Hut, Ford Anglia, Forbidden Forest and Draco Malfoy in the forest polybag are not marketed as part of this scene, but are in any case part of the new system.

To add to @BrickMatit's reply, the new naming convention is to prefix the castle sets with "Hogwarts Castle", which both the Owlery and Boathouse do. Of the nine Harry Potter sets released in the winter 2024 wave, five of them are found / located on the Hogwarts' grounds. Those two Hogwarts Castle sets, and Hagrid's hut plus the two Forbidden forests sets (/ polybags). [Correction: all but the Owlery] of those five has the clips I mentioned earlier to permit you to connect them to each other. Based on the shapes, I wouldn't necessarily call the ones we've seen so far "modular" however. It feels like more of a storage / display aspect.

On the other hand, the new Great Hall set is supposed to have removable rooms that can be swapped with others (like the Potions classroom), and that sounds very modular indeed.

Just looking at my old Hidden Side sets. I think 70427 would be a perfect parts pack for those who want to beef up their Forbidden Forest scenes.

That sounds awesome! Hidden Side was great for combining with HP sets! I combined Hidden Side set 70420 (Graveyard Mystery) with HP set 75965 (The Rise of Voldemort). I'm also planning on putting the new Hagrid's hut nearby as a groundskeeper's house for the cemetery.

Do you have a picture by any chance? I own both sets and have been meaning to do that, too. Some inspiration would be appreciated!

This is the only image I have, from 2020. (It's packed up right now so I can't get a better shot.) They aren't connected very well, and I had to modify the Voldemort area so it would attach better.

@Murdoch17 that looks nice. I had combined both sets too (also presently boxed and unfortunately no pictures), but it didn't look as nice as yours does. As far as the connections go, I think I actually prefer it with the 'pathway' in between the graves as it appears in your picture.

It is actually possible that the bird in HP is a moulded one, comes a new raven in dreamzz now, maybe the buckbeak set have it in more normal colours if we are lucky:shrug_oh_well:

That makes a lot of sense, thanks! Hidden Side's triptych format and the shape of The Rise of Voldemort complement each other nicely. As do the winged statues on either side.

I saw that too. If nothing else, when it finally does come in straight black I’m going to need to get a murder of them to populate the 2019 Hagrid’s Hut.

You mean the girl in a wheelchair? It's hard to say from the pic, but the hair looks more medium nougat than dark orange to me.

Really cool ravens, though. (Note the small one on the upper right!)

Since the news of the summer sets that i haven’t had to time to actually process everything, and since anyday now we might get the pictures, thought i might as well sit down and write my thoughts:

- regarding the new modular system Great Hall and potions classroom; i remember back in 2021 how everyone was quite displeased with the change of the castle system; while i initially really liked what i saw with the chamber of secrets and the polyjuice sets - it seemed like a very interesting system to actually focus on the interior of the castle, as more sets started getting released, and they stopped trying to make well developed interiors and small modules, i really lost interest in that system… had they canceled the books and banners, and actually put those classrooms and common rooms in the castle system it could have been awesome, but that was not the case…

with that being said; and having really enjoyed the boathouse and owlery sets; i’ll definitely have to wait to see official pictures before getting excited for the new modular system.

- durmstrang ship

this one has been a long time coming! Really curious to see how it turns out, and at its price point and piece count i find it hard to believe that we will only get 5 figures…. (The same number as the boat house set) i exepect that at the very least we will get 2 more students: 1 for durmstrang and 1 for beauxbatons

- Ollivanders and madam malkinS

although i would’ve have prefered getting MM in the D2C system; i’m sure that someone will do a moc of it; and i really do understand the need to give the DA shop a more wallet friendly version! The minifig selection is also quite diverse; with students and the flower witch.

- aragog

i find this to be the more meh set, however it hasn’t been done in 6 years; i hope that they at least create some interesting trees technics - the 2018-2020 forrest sets had always some fun builds - however the creature set from the march wave was as barebones as it could possibly be…

- advent calendar

really enjoyed the 2023 AC, good to see that they are back trying to connect it to the sets being released!

other thoughts regarding the theme:

1) honestly find quite appalling how they don’t try to make other hogwarts houses minifigures easily accessible in sets… they decided to stuff the D2C HE with a ravenclaw and hufflepuff “to give the fans other houses students” in a 500€ set however, when creating the 30€ FF set that is a mix of different movies; chose to actually give yes yet another ron and hermione… it would also be nice to get more characters accesory packs like the 2020 and 2021… i’m pretty sure the students pack sold quite well…

2) i really hope they take this “refresh” to actually start spending this themes budget into making accurate minifigures of the important characters… while i adore how much detail they put into tertiary characrers like sinestra, pince, florian, susan bones and the snatcher; it really becomes a joke when you put them side by side with Bellatrix, molly, ginny and lucius… all those 4 need to actually get proper faces; and Bella needs to have a proper dresspiece…

Which is funny, because Bellatrix and Ginny actually got unique faceprints in the 2nd CMF series, which they haven‘t reused for some reason :laugh_hard:

These decisions really baffle me…

the theme works so well in some aspects, and in others… its just weird

Another good example of that for me is the Lee Jordan minifig. While I was very pleased to finally get him, it makes no sense to me that they didn't use Mateo's (Dreamzzz) dreads hairpiece for him.

Actually, I’m glad about that! While the dreadlock hairpiece would’ve been more accurate, it already came in black with that football set last year, while the hobbit hair in black would not exist otherwise  They can still fix it in a future set, so win-win!

Yes, exactly. Also, they should have given him mid-legs since he was a third-year in a time when Harry and his classmates arrived at Hogwarts for the first time.

To be honest I am perfectly fine with having to collect pieces together for a characters in my opinion perfect representation. My problem lies with stickers (custom printing is expensive and work...) and even worse: stuff I can't do/get (Like silver printing on the Mirror from the first great hall).

What really annoys me is the fact Gryffindor and Hufflepuff have just a little shield on their robes, Ravenclaw only a raven symbol.... Slytherin is available with Snake or shield, but the later only with an open robe... I hope we will get Ravenclaw and Slytherin Robes with the simpler shield design... it would be a shame, if the most elaborate uniforms (Gryffindor from the first 2 Cmfs) and Percy from the book would be incompatible in the end or worse Lego fails to give us matching uniforms at all...

Do you think we will get a 3rd cmf? Maybe with printed medium leg versions of other houses?

I feel like if we were going to get one, we would have gotten it by now. Didn't the first two come out in 2018 and 2020 respectively? There's been quite a gap since then.
