I wondered the same thing. LEGO tends to like tying things into movies. I wonder if they released the Krusty Burger with this knowledge in mind, leading up to a few years of merchandising for a movie, or if it's a coincidence. It's not as if there is a general lull of Simpsons merchandise, so they don't really need a movie as an excuse.

Especially, if we look at the target demographic. I don´t want to be mean, but the Disney Simpsons suck. There are whole episodes not including a single joke with setup and punchline. All the "best of"-Youtube Videos are rightfully consisting of 99% material from before the first movie. From my experience as a teacher some kids like the show from those youtube clips but do not watch the new seasons. Some old fans are still watching it to know, what happens to the characters... or just complain about the decreasing quality after suffering through it similar to parts of the Star Wars fanbase. At this point I think a movie is irrelevant. Most people love the old stuff or do not care about the show at all.

On the other hand we know Lego is a company. I can see them doing a new series with a few new characters and a lot of repeats in different outfits.

I doubt it. Would they have known about the film coming out a year before the release of Krusty Burger? If they knew, other merchandise companies would have known and it would have leaked long ago.

Now that you mention it..... the Krusty Burger might have been a test to see if there is still interest on LEGO Simpsons looking forward to the second movie

With a movie, I wonder if it puts additional pressure on rereleasing the Simpson's house as the primary location, or whether they'll expand into a different area.

I haven't really watched it for a long time, and I probably missed a load of episodes leading up the movie. But some of the first ten seasons I know the way the dialogue is said just from a still image!

We watched the original movie two months ago, with my children seeing it - indeed ANY Simpsons content - for the first time. They loved it, and it was reasonable. I hope they do a good job of the new movie.

A CMF would be very easy for them to do, although at only 12 figures, likely frustrating about who would be included.

Especially if five spots go to the family.

Simpsons Movie 2 coming in 2027

I wonder if we'll get sets or even a CMF series

I pray we don't get another Simpsons CMF. There are enough issues with the CMF line these days... we don't need another spanner in the works! The F1, Spider-verse series, and upcoming animal costume series all were / are / sound awful. Also, didn't Simpsons CMF S2 not sell very well? This will probably go over even worse - especially if the film flops!

The thing is that the old seasons were something very special. They put a bunch of really good writers in one room with a salary, so they interacted with each other and build jokes sometimes with 7 steps where joke 1's punchline is the setup for joke 2... build into a story that had often very emotional moments (like "do it for her"). It was collaborative art. You won't find anything with such a high amount of gags in a product - and I say product to describe these results of soulless corporate productionons on purpose - where writers send in gags, you pay them 50$, if you use one of them, and one dude mashes those into one loosely connected sequence of sceenes they call an episode in the end.
