FinlayTheFaithful Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I have mixed feelings about the summer wave. The Crusher Mech is just beautiful to look at whilst the Command Truck severely falls behind Quote

The command truck just doesn't appeal. I don't know much after about Sonic 3, but is this in any of the games at all? It seems like a Sonic themed City set. Quote

I mean, do we really need a second Metal Sonic in a more pricey set when someone like Vector would have been way more desirable? Quote
Takanuinuva Posted May 1 Posted May 1 So I finally found the sets. And yea can agree the truck is underwhelming Would it really kill Lego to make Metal Sonic more robotic. The Minifig Torso and Legs don't work for him They'd have to make mirrored molds but they should have used the prosthetic leg from the Marvel Echo fig for his legs and the prosthetic arm and attachment from the Astronomer Kid At least then I can accept a Minifig Torso used for Metal Sonic even if the intake prints are misaligned On the other hand the Mech looks great. Though weird no Orbot when they have all the pieces needed to make him now. Quote
spiderfan2000 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I guess the Egg Crusher might be the closest thing we'll get to an official set from Sonic Prime. The Extreme Gear for Knuckles is a neat addition too. The Burrobot and Caterkiller are good additions to the Badnik collection, though the continued lack of Orbot is baffling at this point. Rather disappointing that there's not a single new minifigure (not even any new face prints from the looks of it) in this wave. I'm hoping that 2026 makes up for it, considering the 35th anniversary of the series should be the time for LEGO to go all out. I'm hoping that the Chao Garden reference in the Command Truck is a hint of what is to come for 2026. Quote

I wanted to build one in LDD but didn't have an idea where to start. So this set will work well as a template. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Out of all the reveals, the Sonic wave is sadly the weakest The builds are decent, but the lack of new characters or even variants is very disappointing! Fingers crossed the 2026 sets will be more interesting. Quote
Max_Lego Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Egg crusher looks awesome. Much better than the Death Egg mech from the first wave. The quality of the sets is increasing, which deserves a praise Quote
spiderfan2000 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Next year would be a good opportunity for LEGO to do a Sonic 35th anniversary CMF series, though I'm not sure how likely it is that they'd go for it. Quote

Lyichir Posted May 1 Posted May 1 As a non Sonic fan I kind of love the truck—seems like a very fun playability-first set, perfect for a cool guy like Sonic to hang out in. The mech looks cool as well. Quote
FinlayTheFaithful Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I guess the next best thing we can do is share who we want to see next year Quote
Takanuinuva Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Orbot and Omega for me. At least you can make those yourself. But as for new Minifigs? Silver would be nice. Quote

For 2026 sets I would love to see Chaos along with Perfect Chaos and Metal Overlord sets. Quote

FinlayTheFaithful Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I'm more biased towards having Blaze, Jet, Egg Pawn and Zavok (I really do have a weird taste in characters) Quote
Bloquerto Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) From all the sets the theme has released, which ones are made ups and which ones are based on Sonic media? For example I know the Knuckles mech is made up but the Biolizard set is something that is from the games. Edited May 4 by Bloquerto Quote

Generally to determine if it's 'real' I'm focusing on the builds, even if some of the characters are not where they should be. 30676: Kiki's Coconut Attack - Real 30704: Balkiry Attack - Real 40781: Badnik: Crabmeat - Real, even the big version 76990: Sonic's Speed Sphere Challenge - Real/Conglomoration of in-media aspects (Even the Sun Lounger and Parasol) 76991: Tails' Workshop and Tornado Plane - 50/50, the Plane is real, the workshop is in media but shaping, colours and design are Made Up 76992: Amy's Animal Rescue Island - Appears to be Made Up, though could be a conglomoration of different aspects - Tails Surf Hoverboard exists though :3 76993: Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman's Death Egg Robot - Real 76994: Sonic's Green Hill Zone Loop Challenge - Real/Conglomoration of in-media aspects 76995: Shadow's Escape - Real/Conglomoration of in-media aspects 76996: Knuckles' Guardian Mech - Made Up, other than the Master Emerald Shrine 76997: Tails' Adventure Boat - Made Up other than the background setting, though if you want an obscure reference then switch the parasaling to orange, give him an orange surfboard and replace with a regular Sonic figure without the safety straps :3 76998: Knuckles and the Master Emerald Shrine - Real/Conglomoration of in-media aspects 76999: Super Sonic vs. Egg Drillster - Real/Conglomoration of in-media aspects 77000: Shadow the Hedgehog - Real, just an enlarged Shadow Head 77001: Sonic's Campfire Clash - Real/Conglomoration of in-media aspects. The humanoid robot is the Gun Hunter while the floating robot is the Gun Beetle 77002: Cyclone vs. Metal Sonic - Real 77003: Super Shadow vs. Biolizard - Real 77005: Knuckles vs. Dr. Eggman Egg Crusher Mech - Real, though Knuckles replaces Sonic in battling it 77006: Team Sonic Command Truck - Made Up (Unless it appears in Sonic Racing: Crossworlds) There's also an influencer kit, but discounting that as it's not an instruction focused-set. The sets people dislike the most tend to be sets that are Made Up entirely. The appeal of the Sonic sets is normally that they reflect some form of the Sonic media or feature a new character. Bloquerto Posted May 5 Posted May 5 It is indeed a very complete research. Thank you so much @Scarilian! Quote
spiderfan2000 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 The LEGO version of Tails' Workshop (especially when folded up) seems like it might have been inspired by the version in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, though it's not an exact match. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Personally, I don’t mind the made-up vehicles and locations, but they should at least come with some new minifigs here and there! I can’t think of any other licensed theme that only introduced one new non-brick-built character across 5 sets It’s a smaller theme, sure, but so is Fortnite and that gets tons of new characters with novel specialised pieces! Maybe next year Quote
