Mandalorianknight Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 (edited) This does feel more directly childish than the first wave. Also disappointed to see the only new characters are Sandman and BP, would have loved Wasp or Iron Man. Definately a pass for me, as they were last year. I wonder how well these are doing, as they're <insert that tiresome argument> more than even the standard 4+ sets. I feel like by the time kids are out of duplo they're out of the age range of the cartoon. EDIT: I can't say the word junior ized anymore? I'm referring to actual juniors/4+ sets. This is absurd. THELEGOBATMAN Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 They are surprisingly nice, I like the minifigures more this time around. Quote
NXS7 Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 FINALLY!! A Sandman torso that isn't half and half And that Miles figure from the lighthouse... Thinking of some serious potential to make Kaine Quote

PRbrickbuilder Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Perhaps the existence of a whole wave of spidey 4+ sets increases the chances of the smallest Gotg set being a regular one. My best case scenario would be it comes with 3 minifigures, to compensate the few 67 pieces. Almost like a battle pack/accessory set. 14 hours ago, bricksandabear said: I'm expecting the Bowie will probably come with Guardians in their new suits, and we'll get regular outfits in the others. I think at total we might get 2/3+3+5/6 figures, so between 10-12 figs. Peter, Drax, Rocket and Mantis with the same torso, Nebula with the same torso but a silver arm, Groot, Cosmo, Gamora, Adam Warlock and High Evolutionary are 10 minifigs. This leaves space for Kraglin and maybe a reuse or one alternate suit. Quote
jonwil Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 Does the female Doc Ock in these 4+ Spidey sets actually match with any source material in the comics? Quote

I'm sure there has been a female dock ock somewhere at some point in the comics, but it's the show's design. Quote

No. There's a live action female Doc Ock in some obscure Marvel series who's Otto's daughter; but the main/most well known female Doc Ock is the parallel universe female version from Into The Spiderverse. As far as we know so far, there's no male version on that Earth. Quote
Classic_Spaceman Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 The female Doc Ock in Spidey and His Amazing Friends is Carolyn Trainer (aka Lady Octopus), who first appeared in the main 616 comic universe. Her design in the show seems to be inspired by her original comic design: Quote

Lemerbrix Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 I noticed that miles car in the morbius set has one of the ninjago crystalized crystal parts in trans blue, I might get 2 so I can make a mod to the ninjago ice dragon you may wonder why I need two morbius minifigs, but you know what they say “the morb the merrier” Quote

I imagine we'll get him eventually, but Spider-Man has dozens of other villains to pick from that don't necessitate making a new mold with limited uses. Quote

Borex Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 I think lego thinks we only need venom, carnage, green goblin and sandman to fight spiderman. I just wish that all the fake lego makers produce more comic based marvel baddies (and heroes too) because lego won’t do it. btw what’s up with the advertorial banner on EB i’ve been seeing on top of the page since today? Yeah, but just looking at the year, Lego has made new specialized molds for rhino, doc ock, Jane foster, attuma, shuri, etc they could definitely make a comic book electro, honestly I’m surprised he wasn’t in the daily bugle, with most of the sinister 6 in the bugle Quote

That's a good point about Rhino though, the mold is definitely not going to get any use outside of that specific character. The only other potential reason I can think of for why they might be hesitant to make the classic electro design would be that the mask would probably be fragile, but they've done plenty of other specialized pieces before that are not hard to break so I'm not sure how much of a consideration that really is. This. MCU sets get a certain budget just because their sales are so massive compared to comic sets. The Morbius set for example (all hail morb) isnt going to sell anywhere near enough to warrant some kind of morbius-specific mold. Rhino is also one of the most popular characters in the Spidey cartoon... Electro less so. I dont really see any great reason for Lego to make a classic Electro mold because nobody would clamor to get the set for it alone. The only classic Spiderman unique mold I'm aware of is Scorpion in the D2C*? set from years ago. Quote
