Fenghuang0296 Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 (edited) Well, it’s not a Modular. Sadge. But this Family Reunion restaurant thing does look absolutely gorgeous. I spy new fence pieces, with circles set into them, a gorgeous new dragon costume head mold - gonna buy this set just for that - and some really appealing architecture. It looks like someone took the noodle restaurant from City of Lanterns and blew it up to Modular scale and complexity. It looks like the footprint is 36 wide, 16 deep, if anyone wants to try a Modular conversion or figuring out where in their city to put it. It also seems like the base is three plates thick, which is strange but interesting since that’s the exact right height to easily pair it with Ninjago City’s style of water and add it to Ninjago. (Which I’m definitely gonna at least try.) Edited November 6, 2023 by Fenghuang0296 Quote
Robert8 Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 The new Dragon mask is amazing! Why didnt we get a recolor in red lf that Dragon in Series 25 instead of that dull mushroom girl? Quote
hikouki Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Love it, love it, love it!!! Can't wait for the rest of the series to leak! It won't take long til someone modularizes it on Rebrickable! Someone did that for the temple. Quote

I would be fine with no dragon plumes if the entire helmet looked like a dragon! Quote
RichardGoring Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 I love the colors too. What a great looking building. In about 20 minutes, you'll see BrickArtisan on Rebrickable posting a modular conversion. And then likely a load more designs. But I rather like it being open too. It matches the others in the series and encourages better play. Will probably convert it one day though, when my children are older. Quote

Sadly with stickers ( for the first time in cny sets?). http://brckmrg.de/80113-1 They did stickers before sadly, the parade from last year had them for example (part of the reason I never bought it). It’s a shame, the CNY sets used to be filled with prints and no stickers for a while Quote
hikouki Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 The other LNY set, the dragon sculpture also looks good! Quote

hikouki Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 The calendar looks a bit flimsy. Mickey looks a bit off? Quote
Lion King Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 That amity reunion restaurant looks lovely! Quote
Agent Kallus Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 That restaurant set is great, I will have mod into being a modular though. Quote
Lyichir Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Love the printed noodle tiles for the bowls in the restaurant set! Quote
Lion King Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Well, it’s not a modular after all but I was cautious so I won’t be let down. However, that looks fantastic and we can transform it inside a modular restaurant! Quote
Red Rackham Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Above all, the many details and the general splendor of colors are always great in these sets. Won't be long before they're converted into a Ninjago or Monkie Kid world. The dragon beautifully in the middle on a lake and the restaurant closed at the back...can look great. Quote
hikouki Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 I love how they have the live fish on the side. Different people will think different reasons why it is there. LOL!!! I was hoping there would also be crabs, and that Lego will finally make a shrimp!!! How are the minifigs going to enjoy dim sum without prawns? LOL (I'm hungry now!) Quote
TeriXeri Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 (edited) The restaurant set is a very nice set for sure, and it feels like part of it was designed to finally have a set like the 2019 Family Dinner but this time as a world wide release , it's the same family, same table arrangement etc. I know it's a restaurant with so much more then that, and I think this might be the best CNY set yet. Also the fence/windows look great all across this set. Edited November 6, 2023 by TeriXeri Quote
hikouki Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 I’m hoping that with this release, someone can re-MOC the original family dinner to match this style, and become a complementary building to this one. 15 hours ago, RichardGoring said: I love the colors too. He did an awesome Central Perk. But I feel that some character or feature from the original sets are lost in translation. I’m more a fan of Fanpeixi or Brickative. Quote

As soon as I heard about it, it quickly remained me of Family Dinner back in 2019.I’m so glad this set is going to be released worldwide. I wonder if we would see Dragon Race set some days… Quote
hikouki Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Looking at it more, I find it interesting that they decided that the dragon headpiece is colored in pearl gold. But at least it has eyes and not just a plain piece. Perhaps this decision was so that it would tie in with the other set, which is predominantly in a somewhat similar color family. I point this out because 2024 will actually be the year of the Green-Wood-Dragon based on the Elements calendar. The year 2023 was the year of the Black-Water-Rabbit, so I don't know if it was just a coincidence that the main set was a parade float. LOL After all, these sets are not just Chinese-themed items for westerners anymore, but are actually designed to appeal to mainlanders. At least the restaurant has a lot of green elements with some wood as well. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it. LOL Can't wait to get my hands on this one!!! Quote

hikouki Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I just realized that the GWP for this year is a departure from the previous years' style. We used to get animals of the zodiac but we are getting a calendar this year instead. Perhaps Lego felt it would be a duplication of the dragon sculpture. It would have been fun to have all 12 animals in a uniform style to display together. I have been on the fence about completing this line for a number of years. Oh well, one less series to collect. Agent Kallus Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 £90 for the restaurant family reunion is much better priced than I'd expected. I might even get 2 and combine them now. Quote

It just occurred to me that we could get a Lunar New Year animals CMF series at some point - We already got Halloween, Christmas/Thanksgiving, and a generic birthday/costume party, so LNY is not unprecedented.
