Just been over to Brickset and images for the new CONTROL+ motors have been released. Looks like they'll be available individually like the current PF motors.

45061 Large Hub is the first:

There's also 45062 Large Angular Motor:

I'm thinking both will be featured in 42100.

I pretty doubt they will use these particular hub or motor in the Technic sets. Remember you have to use 2 hubs for excavator and they will probably not use rechargable batteries.

Oh I seriously hope not.  I am not a fan of color vomit but I have learned to lived with reds, yellows, greens, etc. But if sets are made with pastel, Easter colors - wow I dunno.  I seriously might look at other hobbies.  I know it is still a kids toy but the more clown colors are added the more it makes it seems like a kids toy.  No matter how expensive or complicated the builds get.

Also, it looks like this Angular Motor has the same function as the servo motor, so it won't be in 42100 as not even one needed

So 42100 will probably have one hub with 6 wedo 2.0 motors?

Nope. Two separate hubs, one in undercarriage and second in superstructure. 4 ports each. There will be 7 motors in this set.

Is there a link to this?

These motors and controller belong to LEGO Education Spike Prime. I seriously doubt they will be used in Technic 42100 (color scheme,LEDs on the hub, useless motor position encoder)...

Brickset's listed them in Technic. See for yourself.

I don't think these are the control+ electronics. Only for spike and perhaps the next generation of mindstorms (if that isn't what spike already is!)

Colors ... as in colors?

I could not care less (I'm pretty much color blind and feel fortunate about that) - but >functionality< is what counts in the Technic Forum, isn't it? How many motors you guys are using for what you are doing are exposed to the extent that coloring issues may impose your builds adversely?

Think about what can be done with these gadgets. And further: With all the building skills presented in this forum: Hiding wrong colors is the least issue of concern, I believe. At least this is what I have learned here.

Lets get things rolling.

OMG, what a bulky thing! I know that it's much smarter than a regular PF motor but anyways - it's in two times bigger, I hardly can imagine where and how it could be used *huh*

Yes, functionality counts. But remember the whole functionality, authenticity and challenging building thing? For me authenticity is right up there with functionality. I like to feel like I am building a miniature version of the real thing, not a toy version. Yeah, I know it is a toy but that's a whole other discussion about weather or not it is ONLY a toy. The colour barf during the build, regardless of weather or not you see it in the finished build, spoils the illusion of "build for real". But as these motors are purely for educational purposes, it doesn't really matter.

I bet €10 that Control+ doesn't use the Spike colour barf / distinctive pastel scheme / description of your choice. :classic:

On the Spike parts:

  • Technic doesn't need the extra features in the large Spike hub, e.g. multi-segment LED display, etc
  • 42100 doesn't need what these Spike motors do: fine angular precision; totally not needed with the LAs etc in the Liebherr face shovel
  •

As Philo said these components belong to the Spike set, there's no any evidence to see the same in the Technic lineup. It'd be good to have the topic's title updated as it will only confuse people.

I'd wait for an update from the Liebherr topic before then. I'll gladly change it if necessary.

It will probably be equal to 618852 (Boost interactive motor)
Maybe a lot more power but those details will come soon enough after the release.

Well, that makes absolutely sense.

I for myself take nay new features, particularly the electronic/electro-mechanic stuff and try to figure out what kind of new ways of letting LEGO models "do" something (automation, remote control, autonomous operations, etc.). So this is why I don't care about colors. Yes it is a toy, but I am also using LEGOs to create certainly "non-toy" things.

I can see your point clearly. Thanks for letting me see that perspective as well!

All the best

I don't get the controversy about the colors. Lego has made parts in different colors for different purposes before, and I 100% believe they'll do it again here. These motors are for education, hence the pleasing and gender-neutral colors. If they're going to use the same motors for Technic, I see no reason why they wouldn't mold the two relevant parts in a different color. After all, Education sets aren't available to the general public, so having the color scheme for Technic motors be dictated by a range that no-one can even access makes no sense.

Lego isn't stupid, they know their audiences, and they target the different ranges to each of them appropriately, making changes where required.
