Slim pickings then, if a potentially recoloured crab is getting us excited 😂

We really need a new crab mould - one that can have eyes, just like the lobster.

Nah, I love the OG crab. It’s good, could do with some more colours though

Beggars can't be choosers :laugh::tongue:

I assume we do not get any new animals before next year now so anything is a bonus at this point:shrug_oh_well:

Fingers crossed for a more exciting 2026! Until then I'll be waiting on the pigeon to show up on PAB so I can start army-building 🕊

Does a Klingon count as an animal?  :innocent:

Dark red and sand blue would be good.

Any of the light/mid blues would be good,  we need green too!

Agreed on eye prints!

With double Insider points and a nice GWP coming later this week, I'll definitely be looking to stock up on some animals from PAB :excited:

I am planning to do the same:wink: It's a nice GWP, but nothing that I must have. However if I am going to wait until they make one I must have, the gorillas etc are probably retired  Somewhat irritating that the juvenile ones still have not come back in stock:hmpf:

So has anyone here seen the new pigeon up close, and in-hand? From the renders I’ve seen it seems to be dual moulded but with no printing, instead relying on the black plastic moulded eyes & beak. That also means it doesn’t have the white ‘glint’ in the eye. If that’s the case then this is quite a departure from the birds we have gotten recently. The ‘small bird’ and smowl are both smaller but printed, the cockatoo and toucan are not much larger (if any) yet both receive dual/triple moulding *and* prints.

I’m old enough now not to trust rendered images, especially on small animals, but just wondered what it was like in real life, and how it compares to the existing flock of feathery beasts.

Ashnflash has closeups in his review:

Around 13:30. Definitely looks dual-moulded.

Thanks for that @Clone OPatra !
So yeah, it’s dual moulded with no printing - meaning it’s got dead black eyes with no white glint. I know consistency isn’t Lego’s forte on this stuff, and it does still look great, but something slightly lacking to me. I think this also means that we have limited options for ‘recolours’, if the wing pattern, beak and eyes are all dependent on one mould colour. Maybe we will get the main body colour in sand blue, dark grey or dark tan though?

Oddly I think the most analogous other Lego animal is the dual-moulded angler fish.

How long do new parts usually take before available on Pick A Brick - ordered some parts earlier for my MOC but wanted to try and get some pigeons and the Ted Brickle head but neither available yet?

Think we should fill the time running a bet on the cost of the pigeons on PAB …

More like 4 actually, at least that is how it has been for a while now.

How will no printing affect the price, It should be cheaper right or is dual-moulded expensive on its own?

I think the first was rather cheap, but the second not so much or do I remember wrong?:shrug_oh_well:

The can print it later I assume? However has that ever happened with a dual-moulded part :sceptic: Pigeons can be rather colourful and diverse so printing would be useful:shrug_confused:

I mean - they make it up as they go along. The sheep was dual-moulded and printed but started off as cheap on B&P, whereas the goat was single mould and expensive. Likewise recolours have varied wildly in price point.

Re the anglers - the initial lime / GITD one was more expensive ,  the black and white one was pretty cheap ( but GITD usually has a price premium)

Dual Moulded and printing are both expensive, or better said lead to expensive parts. Though I guess dualmoulding is still cheaper than printing in this case, hence they choose to do so - though that might vary from part to part (flat surfaces are for sure much cheaper to print than something uniquely shaped)

And yeah, printing dualmoulded parts isn´t unlikely (just think on dualmoulded legs, or other dualmoulded animals), though in case of the pigeon I wouldn´t put to much hope on it.
