How closely do you need to?

Have you seen any other POTC mods? The only thing I want to do is make the captain’s cabin bigger and remove the rudder control/steering. I can honestly live with the cannon’s not moving in and out, but still though, it’s spacious inside but i feel it’s ruined by the “Play” features lolol

Again Spooky AND Pirates, why can't we have JUST Pirates sets?

Not to mention the restrictive availability of gwp sets.

Weren’t they saying something about how lego is mixing their stuff up recently?? I mean it kind of looks cool tbh, but it can easily be converted to something else. No new torso, so that’s a good thing. I’m scared on the minimum purchase  for it thought, they usually lock them on 150$ above sets but yes, I want classic pirates and castle, but no leaks for this year on both ends tbh

They leaked a future upcoming LEGO pirates GWP, a mix of Spooky and Pirates island themed set! No clue on the limits for it yet

From what theme is it supposed to be? Have not seen it yet :pir-blush:

Me,  no.  @SpacePolice89 was the one following this, I just provided a photo from the Classic Pirates Facebook Group he could not access.

So this is a completely different set to 40597 Scary Pirate Island released around September 2023?

Oh snap, it’s that one, huh, somewhere I saw this set coming back this year. I’m not even citing a source, it just popped up on my lego feed for 2026, oh well, back to having zero expectations this year, I should had screenshot it when I saw it on my Feed

I am not the biggest fan of Creator 3-in-1, but it seems that is the bone we get and starting last year we can now exspect useful minifigs there at least :shrug_oh_well:

I didn't expect to see a Creator pirate ship in 2026 when the Going Merry from 2025 is still on shelves and another One Piece ship is rumored, but it's still good to hear. It's a couple hundred pieces shy of the 2020 Creator pirate ship, so I wonder how much smaller the build is going to be. Hopefully, it'll be a larger physical build because it uses fewer but larger pieces. The 2020 ship was good, but had too many fiddly little 1x1 plates and other tiny parts for my taste.

Quite exciting to see it sounds like a new creator ship is on the way. It looks like it is 168 less pieces than 31109. The Horse Knight Castle is 67 less pieces than 31220.

6 figures versus 4 (counting the skeleton) for the new versus old castle.  I think it would be fair to speculate 5-6 figures for the pirate ship. Considering the minifigure assortment in the Horse Knight Castle and Haunted Mansion creator sets, I am also hopeful we’ll get a nice assortment of new prints. Maybe a new Imperial figure as well.

Brick built sails... :pir-murder:

1,074 pieces, what do you think, maybe 3 minifigs?

It wouldn't be Creator with cloth, unless they use the cloth sails as tents in the alt builds, lol.

I would say 5-6 minifigs including one skeleton, probably 1 pirate is female for variety. Sort of "only the captain gets to bring his girlfriend along".

I wish it was comparable in weight but I doubt it, most likely lighter but better polished/sculpted as a build -> sort of a Speed Champions approach. It would be great to have something offer excellent value, but this is surely aimed at nostalgic adults while being disguised as a children's playset.

31109 is about 970g and 31132 about 1000g, so this one would be great to be 900g realistically, the problem is that the price could likely be $120 instead of the fair $100. Fingers crossed it's just a Benjamin.

Yeah I think that keeping 4 is plausible but less likely, unless they ditch the skeleton and they're four fully fledged pirates.

Less than 4 is almost impossible, it's hard to move a big set like this when it's unpopulated.

More than 4 is more likely, that way they can hype the set through the figs (hello 31168) and mask the less value you get regarding the build (part count, part selection -> special pieces, recolors etc., weight).

I don't know about the Imperial dude, maybe keep him as a prisoner, although he has to play a role in the alt builds as well. Even with swapping torsos/legs/heads between them (like in 31139) there will still be a minifig that looks distinct.

I really liked the last Creator Pirate ship; I'm very curious to see what this new one will be like. Between the two BDP sets (so far) this year and this ship, I'm feeling pretty good about this year as a Pirate fan. (My wallet wants to make me walk the plank though.)

Good point with the alternate builds. I was thinking that the 2009 and 2015 waves included a couple Imperials with the largest Pirate ship. Perhaps one alternate build is an Imperial fort for the pirates to attack. 3rd could be some sort of trading post or civilian building/setting that both groups would be at.

My initial thought was they included a civilian and a Serpent knight with the Horse Knight Castle and seemed to place a larger emphasis on a bigger and better selection of minifigures (with more of the budget put toward new prints for the minifigures).  I honestly prefer more of the budget going toward new minifigure prints than more pieces in the Creator sets because I can add on to the build with extra parts. Options for new pirate themed minifigure parts are much more limited.

Hopefully this bodes well for some new prints. I figure printed legs are pretty rare for pirates, so no budget really needs to be allocated to a new print there (though I’m not opposed to one, just thinking about how it’s been in the past). They made two new castle factions, make the Imperial faction a new color and/or bring back Spanish/Armada helmets.

Say with 5 figures: two Imperial or other opposing faction, one Pirate captain, one male pirate, and one female pirate. They could reuse the vending machine torso for one figure, but I’m wondering if they want to keep it exclusive outside BDP sets. If it gets a 6th figure, one additional pirate or a skeleton. They could also make the captain a woman which would give some variety.

Of course, they could just rehash existing torsos, or the set could be something unexpected but where’s the fun in speculating that.

It was suppose to be Pirates turn for an Icons set this year, but seems Space has cut in line according to the latest rumors. However as things are going I suppose we should be happy if they continue with the Icons retro sets at all *huh*

Looking at Jack Sparrow’s pirate ship set, I wonder if we will get a non-licensed Icons set like this in a near future?  But i can’t see how soon it will be since there are two ships right now - Endurance and Black Pearl ships.

Right, so after thinking a bit more about the new Creator ship I am heavily leaning towards 100 $/€ as the likely price.

I am going to use two very relevant examples, as it's best to counter TLG's scheming using their own examples.

Two sets: 77072 and 77073 both MSRP of 100, if I do the average for the basic parameters I get the following raw content for 100 $/€:

1184 pieces, 920 g and 4.5 minifigs.

110 pieces more than the Creator ship, not a big deal but still not a great start for the ship.

4.5 very special minifigs, equivalent to these would be at least 5 regular City/Creator minifigs, or even 6 if a skeleton is added. So the range is 5 full minifigs or 6 including skeleton.

The second example is 31168, which has about 300 more pieces than the ship and is also about 1100 g with 6 full minifigs. The ship would be a hard sell at the same price point while having a 300 piece deficit and also a 100-200 g deficit.

In my opinion Lego is somewhat forced to use a 100 price point, otherwise the scalping would be too obvious and the fan reactions would hopefully be very negative -> and yes this can have an effect (TLG speaks money so voting with our wallets 100% works).

This is the good news, that the price is likely 100, the bad news is that TLG could try and make the ship smaller, and to mask the weight deficit with a more polished look and more minifigs than the previous ship -> which would make the smaller ship appear more populated and perhaps more attractive at least in the reveal pics.

What's great about math is that it shows the truth, just from these two examples above we can clearly see what is the proper content for that price, so if we get less then we know how to react towards this set and towards TLG.

I would like to see this new ship return to roots and be a great toy first and foremost and also be priced like a toy, just because it's a great toy doesn't mean it's not appealing to adults, and certainly doesn't mean it can't be a good display model.
