I think the one wielding the saber is Finn due to the hair pattern (in keeping with him having the saber in the sets) and Rey is in-fact using the force.

Also, anyone heard of this 'Escape from the Space Slug' set that is apparently available on May 4th? Promo bricks mentioned it over here http://www.promobricks.de/details-zum-lego-star-wars-escape-the-space-slug-exklusiv-set/15176

Oh, and I just ordered the Resistance Ground Crew (AKA Goss Towers) from eBay since I'm gonna buy the new X-Wing instead of last year's, as it's more generic with wider use. BUT, the reason for me getting Goss is because I know the guy who plays him in film. Name's Kieth, great guy :)

So I just saw a TRU Lego poster that showed silhouettes of Rey holding a lightsaber and Finn lifting the millenium falcon with the force. Was this an oops or dies this confirm finn has the force?

Yeah the set has poped up on the web. It's exclusive as in, invite only via LUGs and limited to 28 per LEGO store. More anout this and a link to a pic of the set here: http://www.bouwsteentjes.info/eerste-afbeelding-verschenen-van-de-exclusieve-may-the-4th-lego-star-wars-escape-the-space-slug-promo-set/

Huh.

Anyone got any clue what's going on in the UK for May 4th? On the website there's just an image of the Stormtrooper exclusive and the words "coming soon" but no more details. Nothing on the free poster, how much you have to spend to get the Stormie (I know it's $50 but I'm wondering if it's £50 in the UK or not), and I haven't seen a single UK member get invited to any event at their store, just those from other countries. Also haven't got a clue about this "Space Slug" set...

Anyone got any info about if the UK promotions are different?

I hate to fault the designer but it appears he agrees unknowingly with our jokes about the set being a collection of various sets...

"It was more like designing several regular retail sets at once"

Straight from his mouth. I'm not going to go hate the guy because this is a toy but also he did design the fantastic Slave I UCS so I guess he deserves a pass on making one bad set!

When it was £50 in the uk last year I think it was $75 in the USA.

So I am hoping it is £25 for the UK but I am not sure.

hey guys, there is a review of hoth assault set here.

26337263140_1afe08b62a_z.jpg

Just skimmed through the photos - minifigures all look great... But some of those builds are seriously half finished. The amount of technic beams etc visible inside the blast doors looks poor - then I saw the back of the ion cannon! Did the whistle for the end of the day blow and they just downed tools, Fred Flintstone style, and call it a day. It's the most half-finished, waste of bricks ever!

Brickset published this from Lego concerning the Assault on Hoth. Even Lego seem to be struggling to come up with good points.

"New and updated minifigures and return of iconic Hoth creatures"

Well... new/updated minifigures is pretty normal. But it's not a reason to buy a set of this size. Nor are the return of wampas and tauntauns.

"All the iconic Hoth movie scenes in one set"

Yeah, minus the AT-AT. Which is no longer being sold. Also, this is a major problem with it. It's the assault on Hoth, do we really need the wampa cave or tauntaun feeder (which isn't in any scene)?

"Awesome functionality and ability to customise battle play"

This is an Ultimate Collector's Series set, not a playset (according to Lego). Why is this a selling point?

This set really could help with first of all having the UCS status revoked. It needs more snowtroopers (only two for an assault?). Remove the wampa cave and tauntaun feeder. Make the e-web blaster smaller - it's hilariously oversized and takes up pieces.

I can't wait for the A-wing and TIE Advanced set, though I wish the A-wing would have been the blue one with the white arrow from the McQuarrie concept art. It's still the best A-wing to date I believe, they nailed the engines too.

+1. A green A-Wing is awesome, but we've already had a green A-Wing in a set. Blue coloring would have been waaay more awesome, IMO.

That poster is for the Lego Star Wars App "Force Builder", which is non-canonical.

Minifigures do look really  good.

Thanks for the link, Artizan :classic:

On the plus side, both K-3PO and the little transport look great but that's about the most enthusiam I can muster for the set. The reverse of the ION cannon isn't the best though - it seems odd that no attempt has been made to hide the mechanism; or to at least use LBG parts when possible so it doesn't look so obvious. I'm really disappointed by the reverse of the blast doors - that's the first shot that I've seen of them and they look dreadful :hmpf_bad: If the set was somewhere near £170-£180 I wouldn't mind so much, but this is supposedly a premium product and priced accordingly. In my opinion, there's a high probability that this will be significantly discounted within the next year - it will be interesting to see if TLG enforce the 'one per household limit' other UCS sets have.

The minifigures are stunning and it's no doubt great to see some long awaited characters  . The base itself is far too dense though, it needs at least one base plate for a substantial interior. I'm still not sure why they went for a Tauntaun stable instead of a medical bay.

After seeing pictures of so called UCS Assault on Hoth I am even more confused why theres no Hoth Leia minifigure? I mean this set has 5 or 6 rebel troopers and no Leia, where is logic in that? Last Hoth Leia was released in 2009-2010, and this set was perfect opportunity to get her, but nope. And builds wise this set is a huge disappointment as well. And the strangest thing about this set is that it was designed by the same person who created amazing UCS Slave I. I guess everybody has a "bad day at the office ".

So, the Assault on Hoth isn't much of an assault, since it comes with only two Snowtroopers and a puny speeder bike. I guess they try to make up for it with their oversized E-web cannon. Furthermore, the base itself is a disjointed mess of various unfinished small retail sets, most of which have been released before. The ion cannon is new but looks terribly unfinished from the back and has an awful spring loaded shooter integration (a cool repeating shooting function though), the shield generator is new but has 3 discs instead of 4 and the other new thing is a cart which looks pretty good.

Then there's the trenches, which look quite okay, except for the six stud shooter integration. The spring loaded shooters stick out as well. The door looks great, but the back shows a lot of technic liftarms and it's not covered up well for such an expensive set. The command room and the tauntaun stable don't integrate in all that well and the addition of the Wampa cave in an already messy set is beyond me. The base has no interior whatsoever and precious parts budget has been spent on an inaccurate watch tower, because the designer thought it was a good idea to add something from Ep IV in here.

It also comes with the Nth Snowspeeder, which is not surprising. Leia is omitted and Han doesn't have his hood like he has in the cheaper 75138, which has a turret that doesn't go that will with the design seen here.

The biggest problem is obviously the designation 'UCS'. This is not a UCS set, it's a glorified playset for children and let's be honest: what kid could afford a set like this? We were promised a 'UCS' Echo Base a couple of years ago, that's why we're so disappointed. It probably wouldn't be as badly received then, but it's just too bad to see a slot at this price point be dedicated to this mishmash of previous sets instead of giving us a proper base. Hardly any kid can get this, adults don't see it as a proper displayable UCS, there's no assault and even after you paid that ridiculous sum of money you are still required to get the AT-AT set for a proper assault, which has been discontinued. Well done, LEGO

Ok rant over

Couldn't agree more.

Just found this 'Assault on Hoth' review on YouTube - not sure if it has already been posted here.

This says it all really. TLG send a review copy of a UCS set which is recommended for ages 12+ to reviewers on a YouTube channel who are clearly younger. The phrase "Stay on Target" springs to mind :shrug_confused:

The minifigures are really nice! Hopefully they won't cost much on bricklink but I wouldn't count on it.

For the price I would have expected the snowspeeder pilot helmets to have molded visors like those in Poe's X-wing, not face printed ones which I'm assuming is a cost reduction measure. Bricklink prices for these minifigs will be reflected in the 'way too high' price of the set and the fact that many collectors will be chasing the minifigs only.

Yeah molded visors would have been great.

Well the Rogue One sets should be on shelves by september and I think it's just common sense that LEGO will release more Rogue One sets in the first wave of 2017. Some of those sets will definitely come with OT Stormtroopers.

Lego has it for Stormtroopers, we will never see more than two in a set... ever.
