Coola1 Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Its looking awesome! I'd also like some pictures of the back. Cant wait to see the video! Quote
miguev Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Looking good! Surprised by your choice of colors though, expected something more screaming Quote
piterx Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 it's looking pretty good :) how does it perform? 2rc motors are enough to move it? Quote
Zerobricks Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 I just finished the model's interrior (It has 5 seats) and tweaked the rear axle drive. Yes the motors drive it extremely well the low speed has enough torque to skid all wheels under power and the high gear allows a quite high top speed. I also had to use some lubricant on the gearbox due to axles starting to melt in high gear deforming the casing and causing athe axles FUSING to the bearings... Expect a video and better pictures soon. Quote
Zerobricks Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 So here's the finished beauty: Size comparison to a minifigure... And the 41999: As you can see the sides are slightly sloped inwards, the roof is a studd narrower than the body: The axles are small, but very tough: And of course the all needed undershot: This is one of my biggest and heaviest models to date. But because of powerfull RC motors, gearbox and RC unit its one of the fastest and best performing too. Each axle has a 1:4,2 gearing and even though they are very thin, they have no problems supporting the weight of this monster. Each axle is also supported on 8 positions, including 4 for springs. The rear axle uses 4 link suspension with upper links holding axle centered. The front axle uses one one arm to center it on the side, because the other side uses a linkage connected directly to RC unit's mechanical output for steering. This way I have precide and direct steering control. Thanks to the eccentric driveline, there is a very low torque twist which allowed me to use soft springs (4 springs per axle like original) for best offroad perforamance. Soft suspension is also more forgiving when it comes to open differentials which I had to use for high speed driving and turning. Besides being one of most detailed models its also a model with highest number of LEDs, here being 8. Hope you like the video: Quote
piterx Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 i think i've never seen anything that big and that performant :) great stuff mate! Quote
rm8 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 This very rare situation, when I saw video till yhe end! Performance is better than I expected! Good job! Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Wow, such a mad beast!!! How come you left the midle u-joint unbraced, were there no problems cause of that? You sure like to clean you bricks :-P Quote
Rishab N Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I cringed when I saw those 8653 wheel covers with mud on them . Aside from that nice MOC! Quote
miguev Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I'm impressed! The performance-to-weight ratio of this model is outstanding, so much to learn from this... I would not have believed 2 RC motors would make a 3 Kg. car run this fast! Quote
Technyk32231 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) I will shorten the front drive axle, but it needs room to move along with the front axle. No, you don't need to shorten overall length. Just replace the one long axle with several short ones connected by 2L axle joiners. Also, it may be a good idea to make the rear suspension links at least as long as the front. In any solid-axled vehicle I've ever seen, the rear suspension links are always at least as long if not longer than the front suspension links, and the rear driveshaft is always longer. DrJB Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 (edited) Very nicely done. Few questions though: 1. Did you actually use several LEDs (at least 4x2) or somehow managed to split the light and illuminate the many lights? 2. The 41999 plate number, that has got to be a sticker? UNless you got lucky and have an actual 2x4 tile with that number. 3. The 2x2 yellow tile, is that a Vayamenda (mahjqa) logo? Edited April 7, 2015 by DrJB Quote

Everyone who owns one of those has a EK 41999 3. Definitely looks like his logo Quote
Doc_Brown Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 What are you feeding your U-joints??? Titanium??? Amazing performance, I'm totally impressed! Quote
HorcikDesigns Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Maybe your best model so far, in my opinion... ;) Quote
Zerobricks Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 (edited) Wow, such a mad beast!!! How come you left the midle u-joint unbraced, were there no problems cause of that? You sure like to clean you bricks :-P I left the axle unbraced because the gearbox output is not "in system", its at an angle. Also there was no need to, the axle has yet to fall out. There's also a video of me cleaning the model, but I left it out... It was REALLY messy. And DONT DRIVE YOUR LEGO THROUGH MUD. It got inside the hubs and hardened itself, so I had to take the whole axles apart inculding the hubs, clean and lubricate them with siicone spray. Very nicely done. Few questions though: 1. Yes I used a total 8 LEDs, the most I ever used in a single model. 41999 plate is a sticker yes. I got Vayamenda from Mahjqa personally as a gift, so why not use it to show my respect Anyone interested in the lxf for the chassis? Edited April 7, 2015 by Zblj Quote
Lucio Switch Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 The performances are stunning!! Great job!! Quote
DamonMM2000 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Nicely done! Pretty quick in the high gear and tough in the low gear (or is it the other way around ). Quote
Siegfried Meyer Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Anyone interested in the lxf for the chassis? First off this is the best G Wagen in lego form I have ever seen  and after driving one (the standard 300G petrol) I'm hooked. Its the best standard off-roader and i would definitely want this one displayed on my shelf. So Yes Please i would most definitely be interested in the LXF for the Chassis Great work Outstanding Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Great model. I actually like the colour scheme (although it does have a bit of a Pokemon ring to it ). Very impressive performance! Quote
AndyCW Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Zblj, I am surprised that it is holding together. What voltage are you running the system on? Can it withstand full throttle direction changes on carpet? Can it withstand full throttle/full speed obstacles? Can it lift a tire when accelerating from a direction change? When the tires become blocked, does it stall the motors or break something? Do you think that you would have problems if you went to a bigger tire or one with more traction? Much like a full size off road vehicle there is world of difference between a stock truck strength and a purpose built rock bouncer. I wouldn't be surprised if things started to fall apart once you starting abusing the truck. very respectfully, Andy Quote
