Sorry again, I'll do better next time. I wasnt sure where to put this since I didnt want to actually finish it as a build, so I didn't consider it right for generic WIP. But in retrospect, thats probably where this should have gone. My bad

Since no lego in here, what do people prefer more: trucks kr fast cars? Personally, I prefer fast cars

I prefer cars that I can fix myself.  I had to buy a new tablet because the car diag app no longer works on my old tablet.  Same with PU App v4, seems kind of e-wasteful. The older tablet still works prefectly fine with very good battery life.

I'd say probably more on the truck/body-on-frame SUV side myself.

They seem a lot more practical to be the only vehicle someone owns, they're more durable, they're easier to fix, and they're better in Canadian winters, though their fuel economy is likely a bit worse.

Though I guess practicality is probably not part of your question! I'd still say 4x4s, though

That's what I love with my '95 Geo Tracker (Suzuki Sidekick/Vitara)! Only a 1989 (the launch year) level of technology to go wrong, simple mechanicals, and plenty of space to work (Only an I-4 under the hood when foreign markets had room for a small V6, and then just the general non-cramped characteristics of longitudinal-engine, body-on-frame designs!

For me, between a truck and a sports car, I think I would have to pick a truck. The practical element and the repairability far outweigh anything I'd get from a flashy car. However, if I'm allowed to pick anything, I think I'd have a toyota corolla, they're comfortable, reliable, small enough to be used in the city, and I just think they look friendly.

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole today, and found this fascinating article on "double ball joint" front independent suspension:

I'd recommend reading the whole article, but it describes an independent suspension with a single link and steering pivot on the top, but two links and two pivots on the bottom, making a virtual pivot, just like we sometimes do in Technic! I had thought that was just a clever, if janky, solution to a problem confined to Lego models, but it turns out that it is used in the real world, and for similar reasons!

Reading the comments also brought to my attention this Audi front suspension design, which has two pivots both top and bottom, more like how we do it in Technic:

Fascinating stuff! I continue to feel that suspension design is often overlooked in Technic models. Perhaps some of the new parts released recently will help facilitate things like this!

Really interesting and indeed would be cool to see this in action in an upcoming Technic car.

At least Lego now has multiple models coming up to at least use some of this interesting new techniques :D

A lot of modern cars use two lower links in the front suspension, for example BMW in all series or Alfa Romeo in Giulia and Stelvio models. They use two lower links and a macpherson as a upper link or a single upper link.

It's perfectly doable in Technic.

Yeah, I hadn't known that until yesterday! It definitely looks possible, and ought to be done, I think. I guess accurate suspension design is just something we tend to overlook...
