N-4K0 Posted December 25, 2025 Posted December 25, 2025 Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays to all AFOLs and brickers on the forum, may all of you have a happy new year! Quote
Jim Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 Same to you guys!! Wish you all a great 2026! Quote
Jurss Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Are You seeing my profile picture? Somehow I don't see it. I see others. Quote
Jim Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Nope. Mine is gone too. I know @aFrInaTi0n has been playing around with some stuff. Maybe that's the reason. Quote
1980SomethingSpaceGuy Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Yup; cleaned my browser cache, your profile pictures still don't show. Must be server side and since it's been worked on (thanks, btw) I guess we'll have that solved soon. Quote
Zerobricks Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Can confirm the same. Also wish everyone a happy new 2026! Quote

aFrInaTi0n Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I changed configurations yesterday already. Should have had no effect at all - but as we now see / "not see" that may have not been the case. I am working again since today, so I may just be able to take looks in the evening. But chances are 99% the currently not shown images are coming from my change. Quote

aFrInaTi0n Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Ended my regular work, will start to take a look into the issue now - will give updates here asap. Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted January 5 Posted January 5 My next update: The issue came from a configuration change I made yesterday. After the change it was ok till a certain point. Found some part of the issue - seems my configuration change created some folders with wrong file permissions in the filesystem. I got this solved Next, still remaining issue is: Contents are missing in the directory. I need to find out if a revert of the configuration will have positive - or even worse effects. As I believe the process may have stopped somewhere inbetween and now the files are in two different locations. (With my luck trying out the easy config revert may bring more harm, I reckon... :D). So I need to consider if I really would like to do this, or if I would be better with getting in touch with the vendor for them possibly checking and solving in the best ways - but that may take more time, at worst "some days" - also not really happy with that solution. I will give myself 1-2 hours to further check on my side - I think I tend to trying out the revert, as the process should have worked in the 1st place. From mz understanding it may work. At worst we have daily full backups of Sunday morning, before I changed the option. (I can forsee thrown bottles from the community already for that being the least wished option to take... bare with me please, this is only last resort, but have them I wanted to point out here..) btw @Toastie here we are again, "self-inflicted damage" - I had just the best intentions to improve the configuration - but reality did have other plans. Quote
Zerobricks Posted January 5 Posted January 5 There's a saying in my country. The one who works - sins. It's normal for sh!t to break when you're working, good thing you have backups. Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted January 5 Posted January 5 In Germany we have something like "where people are working, chips may be expected to fall down" or s.th. like that - may come from times where more physical work was needed.. So I am fine with that - I personally just like to be transparent for what happened, I reckon Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted January 5 Posted January 5 As stated before, I have created a request at the forum vendor, as I am not sure if "just reverting the configuration" may not do more harm. I am not sure how fastly they may be able to react, nor if I could fetch their answer directly. At worst I may just be able to continue to work on the topic by tomorrow evening German time. Quote
Toastie Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) 1 hour ago, aFrInaTi0n said: So I am fine with that That is all what counts! "Just be yourself - nobody can say you are doing it wrong" (Snoopy/C.M. Schulz). I am still living in physical world - as I model and fix things around our house, my mother-in-law's house, my brother-and-sister-in-law's house ... Yeah, the saying goes: "Wo gehobelt wird, da fallen Späne", which fully applies to me. I have the feeling, though, @aFrInaTi0n is more on the delicate side of things ... Ji OK, I envision this as follows: @Jim (J), @aFrInaTi0n (A), and another high-rank staff is in the EB server room. They have a visit from the LEGO Protection Agency, by the name of Walter Peck (P). The LEGO Police is also present, as well as an LEGO electrical engineer. Due to heavy traffic in the "Unpopular Opinions about LEGO" thread, EB's server power drag has become very suspicious. Here we go: A: Excuse me, this is private property. P: Shut this off, shut these all off. A: I'm warning you. Turning off these machines would be extremely hazardous. P: I'll tell you what's hazardous. You're facing federal prosecution for at least a half 'a dozen environmental violations. Now either you shut off these machines or we shut them off for you. A: Try to understand. This is a high voltage unpopular message containment system. Simply turning it off would be like dropping a bomb in the city. P: Don't patronize me. I'm not grotesquely stupid like the people you go ... J: At ease, officer. I'm Jim, I think there has just been a slight misunderstanding and I want to cooperate in any way that I can. P: Forget it, Jim. You've had your chance to cooperate, but you thought it would be more fun to insult me and now it is my turn, wise-megablocks. A: He wants to shut down the protection grid, Jim. J: You shut that thing down, and we are not gonna be held responsible for whatever happens - P: On the contrary, you will be be held responsible - J: No, we won't be held ... P: Shut it off! J: ... responsible. J: Don't shut it off! I'm warning you. LEGO engineer: Uhm, I, I've never seen anything like this before, I don't know ... P: I'm not interested in your opinion, just shut it off. J: My friend, don't be a jerk. LEGO police: Step aside. P: If he does that again, you can shoot him. LEGO police: You do your job pencil neck, don't tell me how to do mine. P: Thank you officer. Shut it off! LEGO engineer: Oh, shit ... And BOOM, things are gone. And now @aFrInaTi0n has to fix it ... Yes, I love Ghostbusters ... All the best Thorsten Edited January 5 by Toastie Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted January 5 Posted January 5 In the meanwhile I created a topic for more users being able to see it in the generic forums + have linked my announcement to point to the topic: I will give further updates on the matter in that other topic. 7 hours ago, bruh said: I still can’t see your pfps. Nothing changed So @bruh you may have to wait for another day until it may get fixed. As written, I will give updates in the other topic. Be sure this issue is bugging me with priority! Quote
Lipko Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) Well, a banner stating that the issue is known is a perfeclty valid situation in government applications in Hungary, so I from my point of view: Job finished and well done! Edited January 6 by Lipko Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted January 6 Posted January 6 @Lipko not sure if I understood you correct. I am open for any opinion, so I would like to ask & possibly give you my answers already: Did you got the impression we would stop there and not further put efforts into the topic? I would like to answer that that is not the case. In the other topic for thr case I mentioned I created a support case for the vendor to help us out, please be assured I am not happy with the situation right now & after my regular work I will activly work on here. I am sorry if thr announcement was possibly not allowing to understand thst the issue is considered serious & urgent as well. As said I am open for any advises for what would have helped, for doing better in the future. Please don't hesitate to speak freely if something did bug you - your opinion is considered always valid and worth to be heard. Best regards Quote
Jim Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I think he was just being cynical towards his own government They would call it a day and job's done Quote
aFrInaTi0n Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Yay I understood that part - still for me it creates the impression there may have been more possible to not give similar impressions - as this is clearly not my goal. Quote
