Adjustable Rope Tensioner

Recommended Posts

To adjust the rope tension when used for crane hoist trolley drives I use this device - see image.

Uses only 3 componants;

2L pin with Cross axle, 2L axle, 3L half stud plate with axle holes.

Rope is placed into the narrow slot in the 2L pin w/axle and wound to the desired tension using the 3L half stud plate and then locked with a 2L axle.

That will work. For thin rope, though, you can go much simpler. Just pull the rope through a 1/2 pin, put that pin where needed and close it with a round plate. As long as the rope isn't too thick, it will hold pretty tight. And you can leave excess of the rope sticking from under the plate for future adjustments.

^ Sariel, I just tried your suggestion, it works well for very thin thread which requires almost zero clearance, though with for example genuine lego string it's quite hard to force the plate onto the pin and it sits somewhat falsely.
