mike_mcbam Posted November 18, 2014 Hi there Eurobricks, I hope you're all doing splendidly today. My name's Mike, and I'm a Scottish/Scouse expat now living in Sweden. I have been lurking around here for a little while now, and figured it was high-time I registered me an account. Having been a fan of classic castle and town in my childhood, I was rather recently and insalubriously hauled out of my dark age by the Lego Ideas Research Institute of all things. As a researcher myself, when I stumbled across a piece on the BBC about the set I instantly knew I needed it. Once they had their Danish talons dug in good and deep, Lego sets from a good half-dozen themes screamed out to me, but thus far my attentions have mainly been given to OT Star Wars, Middle Earth, City arctic theme (again tying in with the whole research thing) and a few other miscellaneous sets here and there that caught my fancy. So far, collecting and building has pretty much been how it’s gone, but having seen some of the frankly stunning MOCs out there I suspect it’s only a matter until I have a bash myself. Don’t hold your breath for anything spectacular though. Anyway, that pretty much covers it I reckon. When I’m not working or sticking plastic bricks together you can likely find me white water kayaking, hiking, climbing, playing football or beach volleyball, or trying to explain the rules of cricket to Scandinavians in the pub. I look forward to getting to know you chaps and chappettes soon. Mike
Slegengr Posted November 18, 2014 Welcome to Eurobricks, Mike! Collecting and building are great enjoyment, but I think you will find that MOCing is where you can let your imagination and creativity run even more freely. I am looking forward to seeing what you build!

Steckley Posted November 20, 2014 Welcome but I have to disagree with you. LEGO is never insalubrious (and, yes, I admit I had to look that one up). LEGO makes us happy and happiness is a tonic for anything that brings us down. Those delightful plastic bricks are good for your mental health.
